RED RAIDERS HEAD TO THE STATE CAPITAL TO FACE NO. 25 TEXAS Texas Tech will look to right the ship following Saturday’s loss to Iowa State as the Red Raiders head to the state capital to face the Texas Longhorns at Darrel K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium. Saturday’s game has been set for an 11 a.m. kickoff and will be televised nationally on FX with Gus Johnson, Charles Davis and Tim Brewster calling the action. The game can also be heard on one of 39 radio affiliates of the Texas Tech Sports Network with Brian Jensen, John Harris and Chris Level. LAST TIME OUT: IOWA STATE 41, TEXAS TECH 7 LUBBOCK (AP) - Seth Doege acknowledged that some Texas Tech play- 2011 BIG 12 STANDINGS ers probably had their minds on the big win at Oklahoma and weren’t as TEAM CONFERENCE OVERALL STREAK focused on Iowa State. Oklahoma State 5-0 8-0 W9 Doege threw for a season-low 171 yards as the 19th-ranked Red Kansas State 4-1 7-1 L1 Raiders lost 41-7 to Iowa State on Saturday night. Oklahoma 4-1 7-1 W1 “Tonight kind of proves that maybe some of us were still on Cloud Texas A&M 3-2 5-3 L1 Nine,” Doege said. “Today you could tell that some guys weren’t really Texas 2-2 5-2 W1 mentally into it. And I made some mental mistakes, so it’s a team effort.” Texas Tech 2-3 5-3 L1 Texas Tech didn’t get a touchdown pass for the first time in five Baylor 1-3 4-3 L2 years. Missouri 2-3 4-4 W1 Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said Doege and his teammates 1-4 4-4 W1 will rebound, and the 41-38 win over third-ranked Oklahoma last week Iowa State Kansas 0-5 2-6 6 will fade. Redshirt freshman Jared Barnett threw for a touchdown and ran for another and the Cyclones held the ball about twice as long as Texas Tech did as Iowa State shocked the Red Raiders. Making his first start, Barnett’s mobility gave the Red Raiders defense fits. He rushed for 92 yards on 19 carries and completed 14 of 26 passes for 144 yards. His touchdowns were career firsts. It was the largest margin of victory over a ranked team for Iowa State since the Cyclones beat No. 20 Nebraska in Ames by 22 points (36-14) in 2002. Doege completed 16 of 32 passes for the Red Raiders (5-3, 2-3 Big 12). He threw two interceptions, lost a fumble and gave the Red Raiders their lone score on an 8-yard touchdown run. Texas Tech had a streak of 69 games, dating back to a 12-3 loss to TCU in 2006, with a touchdown pass snapped. Duran Hollis broke free for a 71-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter and Iowa State (1-4, 4-4) rolled up 368 yards rushing against Texas Tech’s 105th-ranked rushing defense. The Red Raiders were giving up an average of 205 per game coming into the contest.
