TEXAS TECH AND OKLAHOMA STATE Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will be meeting for the 41st time on Saturday evening. The Red Raiders hold a 21-16-3 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1935. The two teams have played annually since the formation of the Big 12 Conference in 1996. • Oklahoma State has dominated the series as of late as the Cowboys have won four-straight in the series dating back to the 2009 season. In those four wins, OSU has averaged 45.7 points-per-game while holding Tech to an average of just 15.2 points-per-game. Oklahoma State’s last trip to Jones AT&T Stadium marked the worst home loss in school history as the Cowboys prevailed 66-6. Oklahoma State has scored 125 combined points in the last two games compared to just 27 by Texas Tech. • Texas Tech’s last win against Oklahoma State came in 2008 when the second-ranked Red Raiders dropped the No. 8 Cowboys 56-20. That was also the last home night game against the Cowboys. TEXAS TECH IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS • Texas Tech debuted in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 15 following a win over TCU. The AP ranking in the fourth week of the season is the earliest debut for the Red Raiders since a No. 12 preseason ranking in 2008. The Red Raiders are ranked 15th in this week’s poll. • Texas Tech debuted in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 22 following a win over Texas State. The Red Raiders are ranked 15 in this week’s poll. • Texas Tech debuted at No. 10 in the first BCS Standings that were released on Oct. 20. Following the loss to Oklahoma, Texas Tech slipped to No. 15 in the rankings released on Oct. 27. • First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury got his team ranked after just three games and that marks a first in school history. Prior to Kingsbury, the previous mark was five games by Jim Carlen in 1970. Carlen’s squad defeated Texas A&M 21-7 in College Station on Oct. 10, 1970, and then appeared in the AP Poll at No. 17 on Oct. 12. The A&M win was Carlen’s fifth game as the head coach of the Red Raiders.
