TEXAS TECH AND OKLAHOMA Texas Tech and Oklahoma will be meeting for the 21st time on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Norman. The Sooners hold a 14-6 all-time lead in the series that dates back to 1992. The annual game between Tech and OU has produced some exciting games over the last six seasons as the series has been split 3-3. • Texas Tech’s last trip to Norman was a memorable one as the Red Raiders snapped Oklahoma’s NCAA-leading 39-game home win streak with a 41-38 win over the Sooners on Oct. 22, 2011. Prior to that game, Tech had lost seven straight games in Norman dating back to the 1998 season. • Oklahoma avenged the 2011 home loss to the Red Raiders with a 41-20 win over No. 24 Texas Tech at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. The win by Oklahoma was its first in Lubbock since the 2003 season. Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege threw three interceptions in the losing effort. TEXAS TECH IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS • Texas Tech debuted in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 15 following a win over TCU. The AP ranking in the fourth week of the season is the earliest debut for the Red Raiders since a No. 12 preseason ranking in 2008. The Red Raiders are ranked 10th in this week’s poll and its the highest ranking for Tech since climbing to No. 8 on Dec. 7, 2008. • Texas Tech debuted in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 22 following a win over Texas State. The Red Raiders are ranked ninth in this week’s poll and that is the highest ranking for Tech since climbing to No. 8 on Dec. 7, 2008. • First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury got his team ranked after just three games and that marks a first in school history. Prior to Kingsbury, the previous mark was five games by Jim Carlen in 1970. Carlen’s squad defeated Texas A&M 21-7 in College Station on Oct. 10, 1970, and then appeared in the AP Poll at No. 17 on Oct. 12. The A&M win was Carlen’s fifth game as the head coach of the Red Raiders.
