TEXAS TECH AND TEXAS Rivals Texas Tech and Texas will square off for the 63rd time on Thanksgiving marking one of the most played series in school history. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 45-15, including a 29-5 record at home. • Texas currently holds a four-game win streak in the series dating back to 2009. The Longhorns defeated the Red Raiders 31-22 in Lubbock last season. Texas Tech’s last win against the Longhorns was the thriller in Lubbock in 2008 when Michael Crabtree caught a last second touchdown pass to lift the Red Raiders to a 39-33 victory. • Texas currently holds a seven-game win streak over the Red Raiders in Austin. Texas Tech’s last win against the Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium was a 24-10 decision in 1997. Tech’s last two head coaches (Tommy Tuberville and Mike Leach) went a combined 0-6 in Austin. • Texas Tech’s road wins in Austin came in 1997 (24-10), 1993 (31-22), 1989 (24-17), 1967 (19-13) and 1955 (20-14). • The last time Texas Tech played an unranked Texas team was in 1997 when the Red Raiders scored a 24-10 win over the Longhorns in Austin. That was Tech’s last win over Texas in Austin. • This will mark the first time in school history that Tech has faced Texas in the regular-season finale. TEXAS TECH IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS THIS SEASON • Texas Tech debuted in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 15 following a win over TCU. The AP ranking in the fourth week of the season is the earliest debut for the Red Raiders since a No. 12 preseason ranking in 2008. Texas Tech dropped out of the poll on Nov. 10, following a 49-26 loss to Kansas State. • Texas Tech debuted in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 22 following a win over Texas State. Texas Tech dropped out of the poll on Nov. 10, following a 49-26 loss to Kansas State. • First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury got his team ranked after just three games and that marks a first in school history. Prior to Kingsbury, the previous mark was five games by Jim Carlen in 1970. Carlen’s squad defeated Texas A&M 21-7 in College Station on Oct. 10, 1970, and then appeared in the AP Poll at No. 17 on Oct. 12. The A&M win was Carlen’s fifth game as the head coach of the Red Raiders.
