TEXAS TECH AND KANSAS STATE Texas Tech and Kansas State will be meeting for the 14th time on Saturday morning inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders hold an 8-5 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1933. • Kansas State will bring a two-game win streak over the Red Raider to Lubbock this weekend. The Wildcats defeated the Red Raiders 55-24 last season in Manhattan en route to a Big 12 Conference championship. In 2011, the No. 17 Wildcats scored a 41-34 win over the Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium. • Texas Tech’s last win in the series came in 2009 when the Red Raiders handled the Wildcats 66-14 at Jones AT&T Stadium. TEXAS TECH IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS • Texas Tech debuted in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 15 following a win over TCU. The AP ranking in the fourth week of the season is the earliest debut for the Red Raiders since a No. 12 preseason ranking in 2008. The Red Raiders are ranked 25th in this week’s poll. • Texas Tech debuted in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll at No. 25 on Sept. 22 following a win over Texas State. The Red Raiders are ranked 23rd in this week’s poll. • Texas Tech is ranked No. 25 in this week’s BCS standings. • First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury got his team ranked after just three games and that marks a first in school history. Prior to Kingsbury, the previous mark was five games by Jim Carlen in 1970. Carlen’s squad defeated Texas A&M 21-7 in College Station on Oct. 10, 1970, and then appeared in the AP Poll at No. 17 on Oct. 12. The A&M win was Carlen’s fifth game as the head coach of the Red Raiders.
