THE MATCH-UP Texas Tech and TCU will be meeting for the first time since 2006 and will be renewing a rivalry that dates back to 1926. Saturday’s game will be the first time these two schools have faced off as conference opponents since 1995 when both were members of the Southwest Conference. In that game in 1995, the Red Raiders scored a 27-6 win over the Horned Frogs at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. Since the demise of the Southwest Conference, the two teams have met twice in 2004 (Lubbock) and 2006 (Fort Worth). Texas Tech overcame a 21-0 deficit in the second quarter, in the 2004 game in Lubbock, and routed the Horned Frogs 70-35. In the 2006 game in Fort Worth, the Horned Frogs got their revenge by holding sophomore quarterback and first-year starter Graham Harrell to just three points in a 12-3 win. Texas Tech leads the all-time series 28-23-3.
