RED RAIDERS OPEN BIG 12 PLAY IN AMES After putting the finishing touches on a 3-0 non-conference schedule with a 49-14 win over New Mexico, Texas Tech opens Big 12 Conference play this weekend at Iowa State. Saturday’s game at Iowa State will mark the first league game for both schools and will be televised nationally on Fox College Sports at 6 p.m. Fans that are unable to watch the television broadcast can catch the radio call on one of the 38-stations of the Texas Tech Sports Network. Tickets for the game are available for purchase through the Iowa State Athletics Ticket Office.

Texas Tech opens Big 12 Conference play on the road for the sixth time in the last seven years and the 13th time overall. Despite having to start league play on the road nearly every season, Texas Tech has managed a 10-6 record in Big 12 openers. The last time Texas Tech opened Big 12 play at Iowa State was on Sept. 26, 1998, when the Red Raiders earned a 31-24 victory under then head coach Spike Dykes. Texas Tech opened Big 12 play on the road last season in Lawrence and took a 45-43 win over the Jayhawks. 1
