TECH AIMS FOR ANOTHER WIN IN AUSTIN Texas Tech will look to close its season on a high note Friday afternoon when the Red Raiders travel to the state capital to face in-state rival Texas at Darrell K Texas Memorial Stadium. The Red Raiders have won each of their last two meetings against the Longhorns in Austin, including a thrilling 4845 victory in 2015 and then a 27-23 win in 2017. n Texas Tech had not previously won back-to-back games in Austin prior to its 2017 victory over the Longhorns. Each of the past four meetings with Texas have been won by the home team with the margin of victory being eight points or less. n

Outside of the scoreboard, Jett Duffey will likely hope to repeat his 2018 performance against Texas this weekend as the junior threw for a career high 444 yards and four touchdowns versus the Longhorns a year ago. The showing allowed Texas Tech to nearly erase a 17-point fourth quarter deficit as Duffey helped tie the game with less than two minutes remaining on a nine-yard touchdown strike to Antoine Wesley. n Duffey’s 444 yards through the air marked the most for a Red Raider quarterback against Texas since Graham Harrell threw for 474 yards to help Texas Tech knock off the top-ranked Longhorns in 2008. n

TURNER COMING OFF CAREER OUTING RJ Turner has emerged as Texas Tech’s leading receiver during Big 12 play as the graduate transfer is coming off back-to-back games with at least 100 receiving yards after totaling 116 yards through the air versus TCU and then a career-high 141 yards this past weekend against Kansas State. n Turner, who leads the Red Raiders with 619 receiving yards this season, has benefited off the big play the past two weekends as he hauled in a 70-yard touchdown against TCU and then added a 58-yard strike late in the game versus Kansas State. Turner previously broke loose for a 79-yard reception midway through this season at Baylor as well. n

Texas Tech will honor the memory of two of its all-time greats the remainder this season in College Football Hall of Famers and Ring of Honor members Dave Parks and E.J. Holub. Parks passed away Aug. 8 at the age of 77, while Holub passed Sept. 21 at the age of 81. Texas Tech will wear two special helmet decals for both legends throughout the remainder of the 2019 football season.

WE, US & OUR PROGRAM Since his hire last November, Matt Wells has emphasized that the Red Raider football program will be a “We, Us and Our Program.” “This is a We, Us and Our Program. I’ve said it from day one it’s not about me, it’s not about the starting linebacker, running back or one coordinator or one fan. It’s the power of what we can do together. We’re not an offensive unit. We’re not a defensive unit. We’re a team. We’re Red Raiders. It’s the culture we are creating in this program. We need the passion of Red Raider Nation to make Jones AT&T Stadium the toughest place to play in the Big 12 Conference. We have to do it together.” - Matt Wells #WreckEm
