RED RAIDERS, SOONERS OPEN BIG 12 PLAY Fresh off its first open week, Texas Tech returns to the road this weekend when the Red Raiders travel to face No. 6 Oklahoma in the Big 12 opener for both teams. It will be the first time in program history the Red Raiders have opened league play against the Sooners as Tech will be looking for its first victory over a top-10 team since 2012. n This is only the third time in the history of the series where Texas Tech and Oklahoma have met during the month of September as the two other contests came in 1992 and 1994 when the Sooners were members of the Big Eight and the Red Raiders were part of the Southwest Conference. n

Texas Tech will be without its regular starting quarterback in Alan Bowman this weekend after the sophomore suffered a shoulder injury against Arizona that will keep him off the field for several weeks. In his place will be either senior graduate transfer Jackson Tyner or junior Jett Duffey. n The Red Raiders have averaged 341.3 yards per game through the air so far this season as Bowman threw for at least 300 yards against both Montana State and Arizona. T.J. Vasher, who leads the Red Raiders with 18 receptions for 246 yards and a pair of touchdowns, will look to pace the Red Raider passing attack against a Sooners defense that is only allowing 212.3 passing yards and 19.7 points per game this year. n

HONORING TWO LEGENDS

Texas Tech will honor the memory of two of its all-time greats the remainder this season in College Football Hall of Famers and Ring of Honor members Dave Parks and E.J. Holub. Parks passed away Aug. 8 at the age of 77, while Holub passed Sept. 21 at the age of 81. Texas Tech will wear two special helmet decals for both legends throughout the remainder of the 2019 football season.

WE, US & OUR PROGRAM Since his hire last November, Matt Wells has emphasized that the Red Raider football program will be a “We, Us and Our Program.” “This is a We, Us and Our Program. I’ve said it from day one it’s not about me, it’s not about the starting linebacker, running back or one coordinator or one fan. It’s the power of what we can do together. We’re not an offensive unit. We’re not a defensive unit. We’re a team. We’re Red Raiders. It’s the culture we are creating in this program. We need the passion of Red Raider Nation to make Jones AT&T Stadium the toughest place to play in the Big 12 Conference. We have to do it together.” - Matt Wells #WreckEm
