The Red Raiders have developed into the opportunistic defense Keith Patterson and Matt Wells envisioned over the last four games as Texas Tech has forced 12 takeaways this season, all in the last four games. Tech is now tied with Texas for the Big 12 lead in forced turnovers, a category the Red Raiders rank 19th in nationally. The Red Raiders are plus-4 in the turnover margin entering this weekend, which also ranks 18th in the FBS. n At the center of Texas Tech’s rise in takeaways has been its two senior leaders in Douglas Coleman III, the nation’s leader with six interceptions, and Jordyn Brooks, who ranks third nationally with 11.2 tackles per game. n

HONORING TWO LEGENDS

Texas Tech will honor the memory of two of its all-time greats the remainder this season in College Football Hall of Famers and Ring of Honor members Dave Parks and E.J. Holub. Parks passed away Aug. 8 at the age of 77, while Holub passed Sept. 21 at the age of 81. Texas Tech will wear two special helmet decals for both legends throughout the remainder of the 2019 football season.

WE, US & OUR PROGRAM Since his hire last November, Matt Wells has emphasized that the Red Raider football program will be a “We, Us and Our Program.” “This is a We, Us and Our Program. I’ve said it from day one it’s not about me, it’s not about the starting linebacker, running back or one coordinator or one fan. It’s the power of what we can do together. We’re not an offensive unit. We’re not a defensive unit. We’re a team. We’re Red Raiders. It’s the culture we are creating in this program. We need the passion of Red Raider Nation to make Jones AT&T Stadium the toughest place to play in the Big 12 Conference. We have to do it together.” - Matt Wells #WreckEm
