RED RAIDERS RETURN TO THE ROAD AT OKLAHOMA Texas Tech opens its first of two matches on the road this week on Wednesday night when the Red Raiders travel to face Oklahoma at 7 p.m. in McCasland Field House. INSIDE THE OKLAHOMA SERIES The Red Raiders will be looking to snap a 14-match losing streak to the Sooners on Wednesday night as Texas Tech’s last win the series came in a 3-0 sweep on Sept. 21, 2005, in Lubbock. Oklahoma opened the season series several weeks ago with a 3-0 victory over Tech on Oct. 17. Despite the losing streak, the Red Raiders still maintain a 34-27 all-time lead in the series but trail, 14-13, in matches played in Norman. Tech has not gone on the road and defeated the Sooners since taking a 3-0 victory on Nov. 9, 2002.

PLAYER TO WATCH #11 Freshman ELLEN SORRELLS Defensive Specialist N. Richland Hills, Texas F.W. Christian H.S. Ellen Sorrells enters this week coming off her best two outings of the season as the freshman has totaled 21 digs over the previous two matches. Sorrells came off the bench Oct. 20 to set a career high with 10 digs at Kansas State as the Red Raiders nearly upset the 14th-ranked Wildcats. The North Richland Hills, Texas native snapped the mark a week later as she recorded 11 digs last Saturday in Texas Tech’s 3-1 victory over West Virginia. Only libero Rachel Brummitt and fellow defensive specialist Tory Vaughan have totaled more digs over the past two matches than Sorrells, who also added three aces against Kansas State, marking the fourth time a Red Raider had done so in a match this season.
