FIRST PITCH • Texas Tech will look to continue its run in Omaha on Tuesday afternoon when the Red Raiders face top-seeded Florida in an elimination game. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. inside TD Ameritrade Park with television coverage provided on ESPN2. • The Red Raiders are coming off a 5-3 heartbreaking loss to TCU on Sunday afternoon in the College World Series opener. Texas Tech carried a one-run lead into the ninth inning before Luken Baker connected on a three-run homer to drop the Red Raiders to 0-3 all-time in CWS games. • Texas Tech and Florida are the only two national seeds remaining in the College World Series after Miami was eliminated on Monday afternoon. The Red Raiders, who are the No. 5 seed, earned a national seed this season for the first time since the NCAA went to its current format (Super Regionals) in 1999. • This is Texas Tech’s second appearance all-time at the College World Series as the Red Raiders also advanced to Omaha in 2014. Tech is one of seven programs nationally to advance to Omaha twice over the past three seasons. TEXAS TECH AT THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES Texas Tech is in the midst of its second trip in program to the College World Series. The Red Raiders previously made the trip to Omaha in 2014 where Tech dropped a pair of one-run games to TCU and Ole Miss. Tech is one of seven programs nationally to advance to the CWS twice over the past three years, joining the likes of Florida, Vanderbilt, Louisville, TCU, Virginia and Miami (Fla.). Tech head coach Tim Tadlock, meanwhile, is the first head coach in Big 12 history to lead a program to Omaha twice in his first four seasons.
