QUICK HITS • Texas Tech returns to the friendly confines of the United Spirit Arena this weekend to host the Lone Star Showdown

presented by Under Armour where the Red Raiders will face Montana, Nevada and Cal State Fullerton. • The Red Raiders will open a tournament against Montana for the second-straight weekend Friday morning when the two teams open the Lone Star Showdown in a 10:30 a.m. first serve. Tech previously defeated the Grizzlies, 3-1, in the Cougar Challenge opener last weekend at Washington State. • Texas Tech will look to protect its home floor once again this weekend as the Red Raiders are a perfect 8-0 under head coach Don Flora against non-conference opponents at the United Spirit Arena. Tech previously defeated Abilene Christian, 3-0, on Sept. 3 in its only other home match so far this season. • Texas Tech enters the Lone Star Showdown with a 38-9 all-time record in home tournaments during the Big 12 era and a perfect 6-0 mark under third-year head coach Don Flora. • The Red Raiders will be looking to snap a four-match losing skid in the tournament opener against the Montana, which is the longest against non-conference foes in Don Flora’s tenure. Texas Tech is coming off a 3-1 loss Tuesday night at Abilene Christian to complete the home-and-home series between the two schools. • The Red Raiders have never played two non-conference opponents twice in a season during the Big 12 era. Tech played both SMU and Grambling State twice during the 1996 and 2011 seasons, going 4-0 in those matches. • Tuesday night’s match with ACU began a busy stretch for the Red Raiders, who are in the midst of a seven-day stretch were Texas Tech will play a total of six matches. Tech also travels to Incarnate Word next Monday in San Antonio before facing Texas State next Tuesday in San Marcos. • Texas Tech has found significant success in non-conference action under Don Flora, who has led the Red Raiders to a 30-12 mark in such matches during his two-plus seasons.
