TEXAS TECH

• Texas Tech returns to the friendly confines of Rocky Johnson Field this weekend as the Red Raiders host the fifth-annual Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic against the likes of both Mississippi Valley State and Tulsa. • This will be the fifth-straight season where Texas Tech hosts the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic. The Red Raiders are 22-1 all-time in the tournament that is named in honor of former Tech administrator Jeannine McHaney. • Texas Tech will be looking to shake off a doubleheader sweep at the hands of UTEP on Wednesday. The Red Raiders entered the midweek series riding a three-game winning streak after victories over UT Martin, Utah Valley and UT Arlington to close out the Texas Tech Invitational. • The Red Raiders officially reached the midway point of the 2015 season with the UTEP doubleheader as Texas Tech has completed 26 of its scheduled 51 games this year. Tech originally planned on 53 games before two were cancelled due to weather earlier this season. • Texas Tech will receive a good test this weekend from Tulsa as the Golden Hurricane entered the 2015 season ranked among the top 25 in both preseason polls. Tulsa, in its first season as a member of the American Athletic Conference, has advanced to an NCAA Regional in each of the past four seasons. • Texas Tech’s other weekend opponent - Mississippi Valley State - is another regular in the postseason as the Devilettes have won the SWAC Conference Tournament eight times since 2004. Mississippi Valley last advanced to an NCAA Regional in 2013 when current Tech director of operations Brooke Reed was an assistant coach with the program. • The UTEP doubleheader began a busy eight-day stretch for the Red Raiders, who will play a total of nine games during that span, four of which that will come this weekend in the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic.
