En 2010, con sólo 18 años, recibió el Beethoven-Ring -destinado a artistas sobresalientes en la interpretación de la obra de Beethoven-, convirtiéndose en el ganador más joven en la historia del premio.

Teo Gheorghiu is one of the most promising stars of the piano and our sixth invited to this season of Great Pianists. In 2010, only 18 years old, received the Beethoven-Ring- intended to outstanding artists in the interpretation of Beethoven’s work, becoming the youngest winner in the history of the prize.

El recital de esta agrupación en nuestro Teatro – último Espectáculo Extraordinario de la Temporada 2014- es una invitación a trasladarnos a los salones parisinos de la época de Luis XIV bajo la interpretación de dos violines, una viola da gamba, una tiorba y un clavecín –ejecutado por el director, William Christie–, junto a las voces de una soprano y un bajo.

Cerramos la Temporada de Ópera con una pieza musicalmente seductora. La flauta mágica (1791), de Mozart, contiene algunas de las piezas musicales más queridas y recordadas del compositor, entre las que se encuentran las conocidas y exigentes arias de la Reina de la Noche y las graciosas melodías del alegre Papageno. Sin duda, todo se conjuga en un espectáculo capaz de hechizar a todos los públicos.

La puesta en escena de Miryam Singer convertirá nuestro escenario en un mundo simbólico plagado de monstruos y serpientes gigantes, misteriosos cultos sacerdotales y ritos de iniciación. El debut de la regisseur chilena estará acompañado de la batuta de Konstantin Chudovsky y José Luis Domínguez en las funciones internacionales y estelares respectivamente.

We closed the opera season with a musically seductive piece. The Magic Flute (1791), Mozart, contains some of the most beloved and memorable musical pieces by the composer, including known and demanding arias of the Queen of the Night and the graceful melodies of Papageno. Certainly, everything comes together in a show able to enchant all audiences.

The staging of Miryam Singer become our stage in a symbolic world plagued by monsters and giant snakes, mysterious cults, and rites of initiation. The debut of the Chilean regisseur will be accompanied by the musical direction of Konstantin Chudovskyand and José Luis Domínguez, taking turns in leading the first and second casts respectively.

JAZZ EN EL MUNICIPAL CONCHALÍ BIG BAND + MAPOCHO ORQUESTA 7 NOVIEMBRE • 20:00 H Un concierto histórico en el que se encuentran las diferentes generaciones de los músicos formados en Conchalí, conformando dos grandes orquestas: Conchalí Big Band y Mapocho Orquesta que, junto a los más importantes exponentes de la escena nacional del jazz y la música popular cuentan a través de la música su historia y la del jazz en Chile.

A historic concert which brings together different generations of musicians formed in Conchalí in two big orchestras: Conchalí Big Band and Mapocho Orchestra Alongside the most important exponents of jazz and popular music of the national scene, they will tell their history, and that of jazz in Chile, through music.

Conchalí Big Band es una orquesta de jazz compuesta por cinco saxofones, cinco trompetas, cuatro trombones, guitarra, piano, bajo y batería. La Orquesta Mapocho (“Conchalí Big Band Histórica”) es un agrupación de jazz compuesta por veinte músicos profesionales, ex integrantes de la Conchali Big Band. Este proyecto busca rescatar la sonoridad y orquestación clásica de la era del swing.

Conchalí Big Band is a jazz band composed of five saxophones, five trumpets, four trombones, guitar, piano, bass and drums. The Mapocho Orchestra (“Historical Conchalí Big Band”) is a jazz group composed of twenty professional musicians, former members of Conchalí Big Band. This project seeks to recreate the classic sound and orchestration of the swing era.

El valeroso príncipe Tamino y un travieso hombrepájaro –Papageno– se embarcan en una arriesgada aventura encomendada por la furibunda Reina de la Noche: deben rescatar a su hija, la princesa Pamina, de las manos del supuestamente malvado Sarastro.

Una vez concretado el rescate, los jóvenes no tardan en enamorarse, pero antes de estar juntos el príncipe deberá pasar por audaces pruebas.

Tamino, a brave prince, and Papageno, a playful birdcatcher, are sent on a risky adventure by the furious Queen of the Night: he must rescue her daughter, princess Pamina, from the hands of the supposedly evil magician Sarastro. Once the rescue comes to an end, the prince and princess soon fall in love, but Tamino must overcome perilous tasks before they are together.

EL JÓVEN Y LA MUERTE / LA DAMA Y EL BUFÓN 17, 18, 19, 20 Y 21 NOVIEMBRE • 20:00 H Un joven es seducido por la muerte bajo la forma de mujer. Esa misma noche, una dama se enamora de un bufón. Dos tramas, dos ballets, dos nombres fundamentales de la danza del siglo XX conviven en una misma jornada.

Le Jeune Homme et la Mort – The Lady and the Fool A young man is seduced by death in the form of woman. That same night, a lady falls in love with a clown. Two plots, two ballets, two key names of twentieth century dance come together on a single day.

El joven y la muerte (1946) marca la incorporación de una coreografía de Roland Petit al repertorio del Ballet de Santiago de la mejor manera: con una de sus obras maestras con música de Johann Sebastian Bach . La dama y el bufón (1954), por su parte, es una muestra temprana del estilo marcadamente narrativo y cómico de John Cranko. Con la música de quince óperas de Giuseppe Verdi, el ballet relata la historia de La Capricciosa, quien rechaza los galanteos de tres distinguidos hombres, pues un simpático y apasionado bufón captura su atención.

Le Jeune Homme et la Mort (1946) marks the first time choreography by Roland Petit is incorporated to the repertoire of the Santiago Ballet in the best possible way: with one of his masterpieces, choreographed to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Lady and the Fool (1954), is an early example of the acutely comic and narrative style of John Cranko. Leonid Grin, Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile, will direct the last concert of 2014. This marks the first time that the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile becomes part of our Season.

El programa comenzará con la Sinfonía n. º 49 en fa menor, “La pasión”, de Joseph Haydn, una obra de carácter casi gótico, cuyo final parece resonar con el estruendo de la furia divina. El pianista letón Armand Abols se unirá a la orquesta en el Concierto para piano n. º 4 en sol mayor, op. 58 de Ludwig van Beethoven.

The program will begin with Symphony n.° 49 in F minor, “The Passion”, by Joseph Haydn, a work of almost gothic character, with an ending which seems to resonate with the sound of God’s fury. PARRA 100PRE CONGRESO HOMENAJE A NICANOR PARRA 27 NOVIEMBRE • 20:00 H En el marco del cumpleaños número 100 del anti-poeta Nicanor Parra, Congreso reeditó el año pasado su clásico disco, Pichanga, Profecías a Falta de Ecuaciones, con anti-poemas dedicados a la defensa de los derechos del niño y de la niña. La banda nacional lanzará en el mes de noviembre este clásico en formato vinilo.

En la presentación en nuestro escenario el grupo repasará por completo el disco Pichanga y revivirá sus éxitos más populares en una jornada que promete ser emocionante e histórica. Un espectáculo imperdible para todos los amantes de la música y la poesía y especialmente para los seguidores de la banda que ya cumple 45 años en los escenarios del mundo.

COPPELIUS, EL MAGO

20, 22, 23 Y 26 DICIEMBRE • 20:00 H Franz, el joven más hermoso, bueno, sencillo y trabajador del pueblo, ama a Swanilda. Ella, sin embargo, está enamorada de Coppelius, un fabricante de muñecos con poderes mágicos. El mago junto a sus enanitos dan una lección a la caprichosa Swanilda, convencidos de que el verdadero amor de la chica es Franz.

Coppelius, el mago (1992) es una muestra del inconfundible estilo de Marcia Haydée, directora artística del Ballet de Santiago: la relectura de los clásicos, la importancia que da a los roles masculinos, las notas coloridas y alegres, las escenas de aldea y un universo de fantasía que ya son su marca registrada.

La coreógrafa tomó la música de Coppélia y algunos fragmentos de Sylvia, ambos de Léo Delibes, para crear este cuento de hadas en movimiento.

Franz, the most handsome, kind, modest and hardworking boy in the village, loves Swanilda. She, however, is in love with Coppelius, a manufacturer of dolls who has magical powers. Convinces that her true love is Franz, The magician and his dwarfs give a lesson to the whimsical Swanilda.

Coppelius, the Magician (1992) carries the unmistakable stamp of Marcia Haydée, Artistic Director of the Santiago Ballet, with all the characteristics that are now her trademarks: a rereading of the classics, the special importance given to male roles, colorful and cheerful notes, village scenes, and a world of fantasy.

The choreographer took the music from Coppélia and fragments of Sylvia, both by Léo Delibes, to create this fairy tale in motion.
