After you sign your contract with Mariano & Co., it’s time to design your space! Our expert team of Interior Designers and Design Associates are ready to bring your vision to life. They know the scope of your project and they are prepared with the tools to support you in the decisionmaking process!

INITIAL DESIGN MEETING

Let’s talk about what isn’t working in your current space. What improvements can be made and what elements or features would you like to incorporate? Let us help you discover your style so we can design a new space that reflects your needs and lifestyle.

TIME TO DRAW

Using Chief Architect 3D software, our designers will draft the proposed design with your inspiration in mind. This gives a virtual glimpse into the possibilities of your space reimagined.

SELECTING MATERIALS

We start by viewing products in our design center that fit within your budget. Our experts will ensure you gain a better understanding of the products you’re interested in as well as guide and affirm your decisions along the way. With endless options out there, we can help you narrow it down and focus on the best options for your space. (If need be, we can double as marriage counselors to keep you and your spouse on the same page. Just kidding!)

DESIGN COMPLETE

Once your design is complete, we collaborate with our logistics and production teams for final review in order to build a timeline based on product lead times and our production schedule. Your sales person/customer advocate will give you a tentative start date for your project. Prior to starting your project, your design team will prepare installation guides for the field techs to use onsite during construction. ***Now it’s time for Day 1! Throughout your project, periodic visits will be made by the design team to ensure the design is implemented as documented. All you are left with is the space of your dreams!

Mariano & Co. offers our clients an exclusive studio to design and make selections for their project. Our one-stop shop features hand selected and curated materials from our preferred vendors and are organized on the good, better, best scale. From cabinets to countertops to tile and fixtures, we offer variety in every category. Our material selections are continually being updated to reflect what is fresh, on trend and relevant in design.

UNDERSTANDING

After all the material selections and design work is completed with OUR clients, we have ONE Final Review. We gather, as a team, and review the details for the project making sure we have the greatest opportunity of performing at the 5 Star Level we promised OUR clients!

Mariano & Co invested in a cloud-based project management software system called BUILDERTREND, making communication with our Clients SIMPLE! Clients are kept in the loop with Phone Calls, Text Messaging and Nightly emails detailing what was done, what will happen, who will do it and when it will be done.

Always Hire A Licensed Contracting Professional

Each year, the Registrar of Contractors (ROC) investigates thousands of complaints from consumers against unlicensed entities attempting to perform contracting work. The complaints too often involve a consumer paying a large amount of money in exchange for little to no work or work not meeting minimum industry standards.

If you hire a licensed contractor

the ROC is YOUR defense if something goes wrong! Make sure your contractor not only has a license, but is in “good standing” with the ROC. Below is the link to verify a contractor is current; www.azroc. gov/roc/contractorsearch.html.

Interview Multiple Contractors

Whatever your project, you should collect 3-5 bids in order to compare

contractors. Don’t make the mistake of selecting the least expensive bid. You want to make sure you are comparing apples to apples!!!

It doesn’t stop there, interview each of them! Collect additional information about the companies. How long have they been in business? How many employees? Do they do their own work, or do they sub-contract to someone else? How many jobs do they currently have? Do

they have a showroom? Do they have a designer to help select materials for the project? Do they offer financing? What forms of payment do they accept?

Make sure you have enough information to help you make the right decision moving forward. You should be able to see value for the money you’re about to spend! You are making a substantial investment in your home and you need to be

comfortable with the company you hire! Who you work with MATTERS!

Bonded and Insured

Did you know that a contractor is REQUIRED to hold TWO forms of insurance???

That’s right, General Liability and Workers Compensation.

The contractor “YOU” hire is responsible for EVERYONE they allow on your jobsite. Every employee and sub-contractor MUST be covered by General Liability and Workers Compensation, either their own policy or the policy of the Contractor you hire…

What happens if someone is hurt and “your” contractor doesn’t have Workers Comp? Be prepared to open your wallet!!!

Make sure during your due diligence process you ask for Proof of Insurance before you make your final decision.

Track Record — How Many STARS?

I always say, “anyone can be a contractor in the good times!” The reason; LOTS of demand and the GOOD contractors are normally booked out 4-6 weeks or longer. When consumers want someone “right now,” they tend to “settle” for less experienced contractors who are available at that point in time. This may, or may not work in your favor…

Do your homework! Taking a short cut in the process may cost you a lot of pain, heartache and money.

Check reputable third party review websites like Houzz.com and HomeAdvisor.com to verify a contractors history and performance. These are companies that verify the

reviews before posting, ensuring consumers are getting the true picture of the contracting company.

Make Sure You Have a Contract — In Writing!

Make sure you read the contract carefully and ask questions before signing. Avoid ALL contractors that don’t provide a written contract and proof of insurances.

As a matter of fact, you should sit down with the contractor and review the contract face to face to ensure you’re both on the same page!

Ask questions about anything you don’t understand, and don’t be shy about asking for changes to the contract. You are the customer.

Make sure the contract lists specifics of your job. List brand names of supplies, type and quantity of items to be installed, etc.

Include cleanup and debris removal in the contract. Note any follow-up or guarantees the contract provides.

Without a Contract with a Licensed Contractor, you’re taking a RISK! Protect yourself…

You should be able to see value for the money you’re about to spend!

The WORST thing to hear from a client when you’re just finishing their project—“I wish we would have _______!”—you fill in the blank!!!

Remodeling is a BIG Expense and a Life disruptor. Make sure the company you hire offers Interior Design Services and gives you the proper advice!

Many “discount” tile stores purchase Factory Seconds and sell to the public, making you “think” you’re getting a great deal! 6

Over Building your Home
