Often without knowing it, they act very arrogant. Yet this is really a very childish attitude. The more successful we are in our studies, the more modest we should become. This is because we should never be satisfied with our current level of knowledge, but should always be trying to learn more. There is an ancient Chinese saying which says: “Satisfaction invites trouble; modesty brings benefits.” Only with a modest attitude will we make any gains in life. If we are already satisfied with ourselves the way we are, then how will we ever be able to improve? Sincerely,

YEARBOOK 2010

Our Goal for Our Graduates We recognize that our students must go out into this brave new world armed with a multitude of skills, some of which are not taught in any subject-specific class. With this in mind, every year we focus on fostering and enhancing the social skills and desirable attributes of our students with a concentration on cooperation and teamwork in the hope that when they leave the proverbial nest of the E.P. they have the maturity and flexibility to be successful in any new endeavors they embark upon. This year, in recognition of the terrific problems the world faces due to global warming and the need to acknowledge and address these problems, the theme of our annual camp was ÃĒ€œSave Energy, Save the Environment.ÃĒ€? During the camp, the students worked in teams comprised of students from every level, M.1-M.6. They were rewarded individual points for good behavior or penalized for poor behavior with demerits. At the end of the camp, all the good and bad points of each team member were added together giving the team a total number of points which could be used to purchase items in an auction. Through this process, the students learned how their behavior affects others. Along the theme of the environment, our students also took an educational trip to a local biogas plant and the Ratchaburi Power Station Many of our students joined the teachers on an educational trip to Shanghai and Korea where they got a glimpse into other cultures and garnered valuable travel experience. I am proud to say that all the students behaved in a very mature manner. Our commitment to develop our students to their highest potential remains our uppermost priority. We thank you for the confidence you show in us by your involvement in our program as a parent or student and look forward to another successful year.

The Basic Education Core Curriculum developed by the Ministry of Education is designed with the goal of creating well-rounded people. While providing a strong academic education as its core concept, it also acknowledges and addresses the areas of providing the students with the basic knowledge necessary for every-day life and essential life skills. With this in mind, the English Program has developed a multi-faceted program consisting of academics and special projects which strive to afford the students with the necessary tools so they may develop the characteristics necessary to find acceptance and success in this fast-changing world. As an Assistant of Academic Affairs, it is one of my duties to observe and monitor the teachers and students’ development and growth. I am proud to say that the E.P. students show great progress in both performance and cooperative team work. To finish, I would like to express my best wishes to our M.3 and M.6 graduating students. May you find happiness and success in whatever path you choose to follow. A. Piyanard Sawangsak Head Assistant of Acodemic Affairs.

Welcome to the English Program

Name: Federica Bianchi Scholarship: AFS Dates: 6th July 2009 – 18th December 2009 Name of School: Liceo Scientifico “Guglieielmo Maroon” Address: Via Cnicef 4/A Langhirano 43013, Parma Italy Ratchaborikanukroh School is a very big school with a lot of students who always try to talk to me, that’s cute! I think it is interesting to meet so many people all in one place, but I get so confused with all their names!! Anyway there are many more different subjects than we have in Italy. I am glad to discover so many new things to do! I hope to learn more Thai language soon, so I will be able to talk more with teachers and students. I ‘m very curious to know more about Thai people!

Name: Francesca Scapin Scholarship: AFS Dates: July 2009 – May 2010 Name of School: Liceo Linguistico G.Galilei Address: Via Grande 24, Castello diGodego TV 37030 Italy I feel that Ratchaborikanukroh School is a great school to study in. It offers a lot of options for subjects to study. I’m excited because have the chance to learn about Thai culture. The teachers are also very good and caring and one can see that they enjoy teaching so much that they would do it even in their free time if asked to! I feel very lucky to have the chance to be around Thai people. They are very kind and friendly and they make us feel welcome in their country and they smile a lot. Thai people are very caring and helpful in fact if you have a problem they will try to solve it with you. Finally they are very joyful and seem to enjoy even the simple things in life. Name: Thomas Matt Scholarship: Rotary Youth Exchange Dates: August, 1 st 2009 – July 2010 Name of School: New Hartford High School Address: 44 Jordon Rd., New Hartford, New York 13413 I enjoy seeing the differences between my school in America and my school here in Thailand, for example at Ratchaborikanukroh the students stay in one class and the teachers move, while in America the students change rooms every 80 minutes. I also like how many subject choices Ratchaborikanukroh offers. The Thai people have been very nice and helpful. People often smile and talk to me. They are helping me learn more of the Thai language. Thai people always seem to happy as they are always smiling and laughing – that’s one of the things I like most about Thai people.

A Message from the EP Student Body President For the 6 years that I have studied here, I have learnt a lot of good things not only lessons in the class but also lessons of life. It’s very difficult to find a school like this. A school with teachers of great potential, who devote themselves to teaching and are willing to help the students all the time. I can proudly say that the EP is my second home. We are like a small family. As a family member, I want all the EP students to fight for the EP. Don’t let anyone bring us down. Show them what we’ve got and the great love we have for our program. Auraya Lertwatchara (Pang) EP Student Body President 09

FAREWELL

Dear A. Shane Mackey A. Shane was a favourite of students and teachers as well. Unfortunately, he had to go back to Ireland to take care of his sick father. A. Shane was with us for five wonderful years and we all miss him very much. By making the sacrifice of giving up a job and how he loved to take care of his father, he has proven yet again what a good role model he is. We hope all of you follow his example when your parents are in need of your help. Farewell A. Shane we wish you all the best and hope you will come back to see us one day.
