And now, it’s time for the CARDINAL SHOUTOUT; a place for us to recognize how talented and diversified our students are!

Congratulations to this years’ PCPS 2019 Graduating Class. We are extra proud of all of our students, as we send extra special congratulations to the Top 10, including 3 of our own: Priya Patel, FLC&S 2 years 2014-15; Hogan Watts, FLC&S 7 years 2008-14; And Salutatorian Shae Burden, FLC&S 8 years, 2008-15. More congratulations to PCPS Senior Class Student Council Officers: Morgan Didlake, President, FLS 2 years (2014-2015); Grant Jackson, Historian, FLS 9 years (2009-2016); Jamison Doornbos, Secretary, FLS 4 years (2012-2015); and Kale Gilbert, Treasurer, FLS 9 years (2008-2016).

REPORT CARD PICKUP will be Friday, May 31. Remember to check your accounts; any past due school balances or money owed for missing library books, etc. is due before we will release report cards or certificates.

If you are leaving us with a credit in any of your accounts and wish to leave it to a needy family, talk with Connie in the office and she’ll make sure it gets (anonymously) to the account of a school family who can use the help.

STAFF CHANGES FOR NEXT YEAR:  Jennifer Heitman (4's teacher) will be working specifically with our Youth & Cheer.  Ann Ryan (Computer) & Janet Goll (Middle School Religion) will be enjoying retirement.  Susan Pacey (Middle School Math) is getting married and wants to enjoy being a newlywed.

Thanks to God, we believe we have most of these positions filled but will be doing some final interviews. We praise God for the blessings of all our wonderful faculty.

LIBRARY: Please be looking in the car, under the bed, between the sofa cushions, etc. for lost books. You will need to replace with the same book or pay for any missing books before you can pick up report cards.

SUMMER DAYCARE is full for infants  3’s. If you have a student 4 or older, a few spots remain. Enrollment packets are available in Ms. Heidi’s office and the school office. If you need summer daycare for your 4 year old and up students, please contact us immediately!

FREE SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM: First Lutheran School is participating in the summer lunch program again this summer. Children 18 and under will be provided a FREE lunch in the FLS Cafeteria Monday through Friday, from 11:30 to 12:30, May 28 to August 9, 2019, closed July 4 and August 6, 2019. The cost for adult meals will be $4.00; Senior citizens & military adults with identification will be charged $3.50. If you’re getting together with friends, stop in here for lunch & support the lunch program! The menu for May/June is attached, and all menu’s are available in the office, and can be found at www.fastdir.com/flcspc under the “links” tab. The USDA and First Lutheran School are equal opportunity providers and employers.

Things that make me go hmmm…Where did this year go?

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: This Friday at 2:15 we will be having our Chapel Family farewell to their 8th grade students. We pray God's blessings on their future high school and life decisions.

SUMMER TUTOR AVAILABLE - Renee Spears works with our students during the school year and is willing to do tutoring during the summer. You can text or call her at 580-763-7349.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: Only 5 days left of school...WOW! Where has the year gone?? We will be doing some spring crafts this week, and reviewing what we have learned this year. Have a great week! I hope everyone has a great summer.....I will miss you Preschooler's!!!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Happy Summer Birthday Blue! Thanks again for all of the wonderful treats last week!I can't believe we are at the end of the school year! It has gone by so fast! Thank you for sharing your child with me this year! We are planning to walk to 5th Street Park on Monday morning, for an end of year party. Look for the note in folders. Our Bible words this week are, Go and make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:19 We are finishing our review of the Alphabet and our PreK Skills. Keep reviewing and reading over the summer. Our final report cards will be available in the office on the 31st. Our last day of school is Wednesday, the 22nd and it is a half day. Have a Blessed week, and a wonderful summer!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Heitman: How quickly this year has come and gone! We've made it through the school year already! One more fun event before we close out our year: next Monday, May 20th, we will have an end of school year party at 5th street park. See the note in folders for more information!

I have been so blessed to work with each of these kiddos and their families this year. I can't begin to thank you enough for all the support you've all shown me. Next year I will begin a new adventure as the NextGen coordinator for our church! While I won't be in the classroom, I'll be around campus and interacting with the kids regularly still! I look forward to seeing each and every one of them next year! I pray that your families have a safe and blessed summer break, and that God brings you back to FLS next year!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: What an awesome musical last Friday! The kids did a great job! Thank you Mrs. Schelp! Also, thank you parents for bringing your children to the musical and thank you for sharing your children with me this whole year! I will miss them, so maybe they can come by and tell me hi next year at recess or in the hall! I hope everyone has a bunch of great summer fun. Please keep reading this summer so you don't forget all of your kindergarten words! Have a fantastic week and summer!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: We have just about made it to the end of the school year! We are ready for 2nd grade! Thank you for trusting me with your wonderful children this year. They have grown in so many ways during the school year! Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts last week, you made me feel very appreciated! We will not have a spelling test or memory work this week! On Thursday, you may either meet us in our room at 11:00 or you can meet us at the Elementary building. After our visit with 2nd grade, we will walk back over to our classroom so that we can get backpacks and lunches and load up in the cars. I am sorry that I have to miss our end of the year trip! I pray that everyone has a great summer and please keep reading! Happy birthday to Elijah today!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: In a few short days, these precious children will become third graders. I'm so proud of them for working so hard. I'm in awe of their kindness and compassion for each other. It has truly been my honor to share this school year with them and with you. Thank you for entrusting them to my care. Thank you, too, for the lovely gifts. Amazing children come from amazing families. I pray that God will continue to bless them. I know he has great plans for these children. Happy summer birthday to Slate, Briley, Avery, and Triton. God's Blessings, dear Friends!

THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: The end is in sight. I am getting grades entered, papers corrected, and returned.

Please let me know if you have any questions. This is our week to finish things up and get ready for summer vacation.

Thank you so much for sharing your children with me this year. This is an amazing group of kids and I am going to miss them so much! Also, thank you for all my gifts last week! You all spoiled me. Thank you!! Hope everyone enjoys their summer and I cannot wait to see everyone in August.

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts and notes for teacher appreciation week!

I was brought to tears many times from all of the kind gestures. The kids are really excited about the auction the last week of school. Keep the auction items coming into school! Keep reading for AR, the party is on the 21st. Permission slips are due the 20th. Game day is tomorrow. I know I have learned a lot from the kids this year! I truly appreciate a year of memories. Blessings to you as we wrap up the school year strong and prepare to be 5th graders.

FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: We've almost made it to the end of this school year! What a joy it has been to be your child's teacher! I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of your children. Each is so unique! It's always sad to say goodbye; spending 9 months with a group really bonds you to them. God's blessings as you go into summer.

CHEER: We will practice Mondays and Wednesdays through the remainder of the school year 3:30-5 (excluding the last day of school). Please be sure you have joined our "BAND" group, and turn on notifications. This is where all our information will be posted for the season. Camp deposit is due May 15.

"FLY" There will NOT be FLY tonight. Join us next week for our end of school year celebration! Middle school students are invited to stay after school, 11:30-1:00, for lunch and lawn games. We will meet at the youth house. Come ready to play!

Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings, Everyone! Here we are! The final Chatter of the school year! First of all, I want to thank all the parents and students for the wonderful gifts I received last week during Teacher Appreciation Week. I was overwhelmed with the flowers, treats, gift cards, and sweet notes from your families. I am so fortunate to work in such an awesome and supportive school. Thank you, thank you! I would also like to thank you for trusting me with your child this year. I hope every one of them has felt loved and supported. I have seen growth in all the students physically and academically. Most importantly, I pray that everyone feels that they have grown spiritually. The most important thing we are teaching here at FLS is that God is REAL and that God loves each and every one of us. To wrap it up, I want to wish you all a wonderfully fun, relaxing, and safe summer. God's blessings to you all!

Mrs. Hanson: WE MADE IT!!!! well kinda... We still have our comprehensive final next Tuesday. We start reviewing for this tomorrow and will review each and every chapter we have studied this semester, since January. We will also have a final binder check. No late work will be accepted after Friday, but getting any late work in will help improve any grade and will help students prepare for the final.

But I would like to take just a moment to thank all of you. I had a truly wonderful year. I love all of my students, am so proud of the work that everyone accomplished and know that these students have awesome God-driven futures ahead of them. I pray many blessing over our 8th graders as they leave us; know that you always have a home here at FLS and people that love you and a bigger God who loves you more.

Ms. Pacey: It’s the last chatter of the 2018-2019 school year! The year has really flown by. Algebra is finishing their car comparisons on Monday and Tuesday. PreAlgebra has a test on Monday over slope-intercept form. Course 2 and Course 1 have their room blueprints due Monday. 8th grade will be leading our final chapel of the school year. I am very excited to have our students leading chapel before they begin their next chapter at PoHi. Have a great summer!

Mr. Covert: It’s our last full week! I hope everyone is ready to finish out the year strong!

We’re getting through what we can before the year ends. 8th grade is going through the Great Depression and we’ll get a start on World War II. In 7th grade, we’re going through Central Asia, and we’ll do a little bit on Central Africa 3

to wrap everything up. As for 6th grade, we’re going to do our best to finish the Revolution Era as we cover the Industrial Revolution this week.

I pray that God continues to bless our entire school family. I pray He keeps our 8th graders in His hand as they move on to high school, and continues to bless us all here as we continue on. Blessings on your summer!
