APRIL 4-8 ITBS TESTING: 2nd – 8th Grade! Please be sure your student is on time, doesn’t have any morning doctor appointments, and eats a healthy breakfast to start their day right! (See attached flyer for more information.)

CARDINAL CARE – Ms. Vap: School Age (3 and up): Thursday, April 14th School releases at 11:20am. If you need childcare for the remainder of the day, please sign up by Monday, April 11th. Reminder - The Daycare will be CLOSED Friday, April 15th and Monday, April 18th for Easter. MUSIC  – Mrs. Brey: Elementary students are working on voice exploration, forte and piano, rhythms, and counting rhythms. Middle school students are preparing for the upcoming musical, and 7th/8th grade are preparing for their upcoming church performance at 9am on April 10th!

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Daine: We are really learning a lot about Spring! This week rain and how it helps plants to grow. We are reviewing the letter 'R' for 'rain'. Have a blessed rest of the week!

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: This week we are reviewing the letters F through J. The field trip forms were due today. Eggs need to be brought anytime between now and the 12th. Have a great week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Field trip forms and money were due today. Please return those tomorrow if you haven't. Our field tip is next Wednesday. March Book It calendars are due to me by Friday. I still have some report cards out. Please sign and return those to me if you haven't. I will send a copy back to you. Show and tell is tomorrow. Our Bible words this week are Jesus said, "Love one another as I have loved you "John 15:12 We are reviewing our Alphabet and are doing A-E this week and the number 20. Have a Blessed Week!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: If you have not sent your money ($4.00) or the permission slip for the egg hunt next Wednesday April 13th, please do so immediately. Thank you very much! If you brought snacks, thank you and if you didn’t, we still need them. Have a GREAT week.

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Congratulations to our published authors! We had fun celebrating our books on Monday! Memory for Friday is the 6th Commandment - You shall not commit adultery. Field trip forms and money were due today. If you have not turned yours in yet, please do so by tomorrow! Please bring your 1 dozen stuffed eggs by no later than next Tuesday. We will need to deliver the eggs out to New Life Trails after school on Tuesday. Scholastic book orders are due on Friday. This will be the last book order I send out, so this is a great time to get some books for summer reading! I sent a note on Class Tag about the upcoming Track Meet, please let me know if you are able to help on that day! Turn in the March Reading Log by Friday to get your last Pizza Hut certificate. Blessings on your week!

SECOND GRADE – Ms. Felton: As we approach Easter, we are beginning to study the events of Holy Week in class.

From Palm Sunday to the Crucifixion to Easter, we will be learning and growing in faith! Standardized testing was this week and a BIG thank you to all parents who donated healthy snacks for our class!! Next week we begin a short unit studying economics for social studies and a longer unit on animals and plants for science. We’ll be back to week 10 of spelling next week. Memory next week will be Matthew 28:19-20. Field trip forms come out this week! Please return them by next Tuesday so that we can be set up before Easter weekend.

THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: TESTING WEEK!! After Monday, everything has been going smooth. Monday brought lots of anxiety, but after the first test everyone is doing great! Thank you parents who have supplied snacks this week. The kids have loved it! This Week: NO Spelling or Reading Test. We will pick those back up next week. If your child has homework this week, it is just because they have not completed it in class, I will NOT assign homework this week. Next Week: the next couple of weeks are short weeks, we will still be doing reading and spelling. Please study spelling, scores have not been good for some. Grades are all up to date on FastDirect. If you have any questions, please let me know.

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: We are well underway for our ITBS. Please keep praying for the kids as they finish testing.

Continue to have the kids get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast before coming to school. THANK YOU for all of the yummy snacks. Encouraging notes are always a nice boost of confidence while we give our best effort. This week we normally see a lot of AR reading as there is less academics. We still have memory this week; spelling will resume next week. Monday we set 15 duck eggs into the incubator to be hand turned daily by students! April Book Orders are due tomorrow the 7th, we saw some amazing books in the flyer. Midterms come out in two weeks. Don’t get caught off guard by grades, look at Fast Direct before they come out on the 20th.

5th GRADE RELIGION – Mrs. Brey: Students are working on their devotion projects. We are working through these during class and they have rough draft submission dates to make sure they're getting everything done. The final submission will be due on Monday, April 25.

5th Grade & Middle School Our TRACK MEET is here in one month on Friday May 6th for 1st – 8th grade. We will need a lot of help! To volunteer, please contact the office or Coach Amanda.

6th – 8th MATH – Mr. McKinley: Missed the last three days with ITBS tests but starting Chapter 9 tomorrow.

SCIENCE – Mrs. Porter-Cain: What a week of testing it has been! Moving forward this week classes will be doing the following: 5th Grade-We will start talking about Ecosystems!

6th Grade- We will start Particle Motion and Energy and Friday we will do an experiment for our quarter of experimentations!

7th Grade-in preparation for our field trip we will be learning how to identify and distinguish between Igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, Igneous Extrusive rocks and Metamorphic rocks!

8th Grade-We will be learning some of the different organizations of the inner workings of animals! (cows have how many stomachs?.... frogs drink through their skin?? turtles breath where?) in preparation for dissection!

PE- This week we are doing Scavenger hunting and track training in 5th-8th grade! 2nd - 4th are going to have a tetherball tournament (weather permitting) Athletics- Join me in wishing our Track team GOOD LUCK at their first meet of the season, April 7th! Just keep running, Just keep running!

LANGUAGE – Ms. Kester: ITBS testing is done, and we didn't miss a beat. English classes are moving forward with analyzing and deconstructing sentences, and Religion classes are exploring the story of Job. Enjoy the rest of your week!

SOCIAL STUDIES – Mr. Brey: 5th Grade: We will be focusing on different Gold Rush events this week. Students will have a lot of partner work this month figuring out the five Ws of many American events.

6th Grade: Students are doing group work to learn the material and understand it well enough that they can teach it to their classmates. Students should be leading class at least once a week for the rest of the month. This is currently with a focus on government and immigration.

7th Grade: Same as 6th grade, but with a focus on geography and cultures.

8th Grade: WWI should take us to about the 12th, then we will get to The Great Depression and WWII.

April 4-8, is ITBS Testing Week for Grades 2-8 in the mornings!

What can you do to help your student be ready for testing week? Plenty!  Testing starts at 8:30 a.m. sharp, so please be sure your student is on time.

As a reminder, classroom doors open at 8:10 a.m. each morning, and school begins/attendance is taken at 8:20 a.m. A tardy student is a distraction to a whole class of testing students, so students who arrive tardy will be admitted to their classrooms AFTER the current round of testing is finished. Any missed tests will need to be made up at a later time.  Please avoid any doctor/dentist/etc. appointments during the morning hours. It is a tremendous distraction to your student, as well as the others in the class, to have students pulled out during the middle of a test.  Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast! It’s hard to do your best thinking when your tummy is growling! Remember, we offer nutritious breakfasts in the cafeteria each morning between 7:45 – 8:05 a.m. FOR FREE THIS YEAR!

 They should have 5 sharpened pencils with an eraser (not mechanical).

Long story short: eat a healthy breakfast, be on time, and don’t check out until afternoon! Thanks for your cooperation!
