TALENT SHOW TOMORROW: Join us as our talented kids astound and entertain us with their many talents TOMORROW, Thursday, in the gym at 8:45 a.m. (dress rehearsal) and 6:30 p.m.

TRACK MEET MAY 1!: The yearly track meet is coming! This is the time each year that we host other Lutheran Schools from Northern Oklahoma to OUR campus for a day of physical and academic competition and fellowship for students in 1st grade and up (younger students may come and watch, but not participate). This years’ track meet will be held on Friday, May 1, and activities will be held both at PoHi’s stadium across the street (morning events) and on our campus (afternoon events). We invite you to make plans now to attend the track meet with your kids’, cheer on all of the students, and lend a hand as we host the other schools. Please contact the office or Coach Amanda if you can help out for an hour (or longer) by assisting with events, assisting with bee’s, writing winning names on ribbons, sorting ribbons by school, etc. Because children will be competing in team events, and will not be on campus most of the day, please take time now to reschedule any optional dr./dentist/ortho visits.

Each school that attends has their own shirt that they wear, to make it easier to track down their students. The order form to order our shirt is attached, and more information is below.

TRACK SHIRTS: It's that time of year again! Our school wide track meet will be here before you know it! Be sure to get your track shirt order into the office NO LATER THAN MARCH 31! All your *FRIENDS* will have one! We will not be ordering extra shirts, and late orders will not be accepted. Don't miss your opportunity! Order forms are attached to this week’s Chatter.

6th GRADE PLAYING CHIMES: The 6th grade class will be playing chimes at the evening Lenten service on Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30pm. Each student's part is important to our performance--if you are not able to attend, -1-

please notify Mrs. Schelp through Fast Direct so we can make arrangements to cover your part. In addition to the service, you are welcome to join us for dinner (starting at 5:30pm in the fellowship hall) and/or FLY. RE-ENROLLMENT PRIZE GIVE-AWAY!: If you enroll by the end of March, you will get one entry into a drawing for a $25 Gift Card for each 1/3 of the enrollment fee that you pay by the date of the drawing. (An enrollment fee paid in full = 3 entries for the drawing.) SURVEY NEEDED - Ladies/Gentlemen, every five years our school goes through an accreditation process to maintain State and National Accreditation standings. The survey has questions based on the seven accreditation standards. Please take time to complete the survey that was attached to last weeks’ chatter, is available in the office, or you may follow the link that was sent via fastdirect to all parents. WE GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT!!!

GREAT DAYS OF SERVICE are days set aside to perform service acts for others. They are scheduled for Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. On March 28, we will be assisting the Marshal Island Assembly of God Church with a couple of projects. They participated in our Christmas Market and as a "thank you" we will be assisting them with a couple of church repair projects. To volunteer with that or any of our service projects, please contact the school office.

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Welcome to the last days of the third quarter. Thank you to everyone who has reenrolled. We will have another drawing at the end of this month so get your registration in quickly. Excited by the turn out at the new student Open House on Monday. Looks like GREAT new families will be joining us, especially in 6th grade.

ATHLETICS: - Coach Amanda: Did you hear the great news? YOUR CARDINAL BOYS ARE HEADED TO LUTHERAN NATIONALS! We are so excited for this great group of young men! Please pray for safe travels for them and their families as they make their way to Valparaiso, Indiana to represent our school!! The tournament is March 26-29. We will announce the link to watch from home on our FLS basketball Facebook page.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: This week we are doing a review on all of the skills we have learned so far. Spring break is next week. Have a great week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Gillespie: Happy Lutheran's Week. We have had a fun week of activities. Tomorrow our class is to dress like a nerd and Friday in our countries colors, Scotland is blue and white. We have been watching videos this week about Mongolia and the children have learned a lot. We also celebrated a birthday this week, Happy Birthday Parker! We get out on Friday at 11:20 and Spring Break all next week, No School!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Happy Lutheran Schools Week! Thank you to all that planned a great week!

Tomorrow and Friday are Chapel Family dress up days. Each chapel family received a note last week with dress up instructions for tomorrow and Friday. Friday is also a half day of school leading into spring break next week! We started our Reading Challenge this week, look for the information in folders today. Our Bible words this week are, Have mercy upon us, O Lord. Psalm 123:3 We are finishing our alphabet this week with letters Yy and Zz and the number 17. After spring break we will go back to reviewing a letter each day. Have a Blessed Week, and a great Spring Break!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: I hope everyone has a great "Spring Break" next week! Our class would like to wish Kennedy a happy birthday this week (March 9th)! Our 4th, 9 week words are harder, so please read and practice them a bunch. Thank you to all that helped with our Lutheran Schools Week. Have a wonderful week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: We are having fun this week celebrating Lutheran School's Week! Thank you to the Elementary teachers for their planning and fun activities they have for us! Memory work for Thursday is the 3 rd Commandment - Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. We will also have our reading test and spelling test on Thursday (tomorrow!). Friday is a half day of school and we have some more fun activities planned to close out the week. Our class book has been mailed off to the publisher. We can't wait for it to be done! Happy birthday to Lilly next week on the 18th. Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 5, Palm Sunday. Our class will get to help carry in palm branches and also sing in church! Have a wonderful Spring Break!!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy Lutheran Schools Week! What a blessing to have a place to celebrate Jesus' love and our hope in Him EVERY DAY! God is so good! Travel safely over spring break! Blessings!

THIRD GRADE – Coach Amanda (f/Mrs. Steichen): And just like that, the end of the quarter is here! I've enjoyed teaching this class in the mornings this quarter! I'm gonna miss them! We will finish The One and Only Ivan this week 2

and test over it on Thursday! We will also have our spelling test on THURSDAY of this week! Math test will be Wednesday! Remember to dress for Lutheran Schools spirit week!!

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Happy Lutheran School Week! What a great job we did singing praises to the Lord on Sunday. It was impressive. We really have been having a great time celebrating being at a Lutheran School. Look at the personal Chapel family note for the rest of the dress up days for the week. Don’t forget 11:20 dismissal on Friday.

We are still having memory test before Friday. AR goals and final grades wrap up before we leave on Friday. March book orders are due the 12th of March. We have begun to prepare and think about ITBS coming up soon. Have a safe, sun, and blessed spring break. Take time to worship our Lord and Savior as he died on the cross to save our sins. We would be nowhere without Him. Blessings as you bless others this week!

FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: This week we are surviving, anxiously awaiting Spring Break. We're also having a great time celebrating Lutheran School's Week. It would be very helpful to do the very best possible on this week's work and tests, as these last few grades can hurt or help the outcome of this quarter's grades. I wish you all a blessed Spring Break, and look forward to our final quarter together.

FIFTH GRADE SCIENCE – Mrs. Hanson: 5th grade will be hitting the STEM challenges hard after break, so rest that big beautiful brain and get ready to do some problem solving and critical thinking!

8th Grade Girls—PoHi-Stepper Tryouts are quickly approaching. There will be an informational parent meeting on March 24th at 5:30 in the Assembly Center at the high school. Tryout clinic starts on Monday, March 30th at 7:00 am in Robson Fieldhouse. Tryouts are April 8th at 4:00 pm.

FLY: During the season of Lent we will meet for dinner at 5:30, attend church at 6:30, and head to the gym afterwards for games until 8:00. Please have a ride available at 8:00.

Mrs. Scott: All math classes are reviewing for the ITBS Tests. I pray everyone has safe travels during Spring Break!

Mrs. Hanson: All classes will have a test over their current unit this Thursday.

Fundraiser product will be in this week to deliver to customers.

Science Alive info has gone home, please make sure you get the note to know what's going on and then have money in by March 25.

Mr. Covert: The end of the third quarter is here! We’ve gotten three fourths of the way through this school year.

It’s hard to believe how quickly it’s gone!

Our classes are going to get through as much as we can before the break. 8th grade will be starting World War I this week. We’ll aim to get to a good halfway point so we can wrap that unit up after break. In 7th grade, we’re working our way through Australia, with a goal to finish by the end of the quarter. As for 6th grade, we’re going to wrap up with Renaissance and Reformation this week.

8TH GRADE PARENTS, this is the last notice that your remaining payment is due FRIDAY, MARCH 13! You can pay either myself or the office. If you need to know how much is left to pay for your family, feel free to get in touch with me in person or on FastDirect. The hotel payment is due the following week, so I need to make sure we have what’s needed. If we don’t have the money, it could jeopardize the entire trip, and so far only three families are entirely paid up. Please make sure you get your payment to me by FRIDAY! I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we move through this school year into the fourth quarter.

Mrs. Harbeson: Hello, Everyone! Well, we're finally at the end of our 3rd quarter and Spring Break is just a few days away. I hope everyone is enjoying National Lutheran Schools' Week! Thank you, Mrs. Sibley and Mrs. Powell for planning lots of fun activities. I also want to thank all those parents who accompanied us on Friday to Immanuel Broken Arrow for the Academic Bowl. I hope everyone enjoyed their day! It was fun to compete with the other Lutheran schools from around the state.

In language, all classes are finishing up the quarter with lesson 10 spelling and vocabulary tests, grammar tests, rd and 3 quarter folders. With that being said, I hope you all have a safe and fun Spring Break! Blessings to you!

LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK DRESS UP DAYS! Join us March 9-13 as we celebrate the opportunity to be a part of the Nation of Lutheran Schools! Our dress-up days are as follows: Monday, March 9 Tuesday, March 10 Wednesday, March 11

FLS Spirit Day--Wear FLS gear (or red/black/white clothing) Be YOU-NIQUE. Show your individuality that makes you, YOU! The Future You / Red, White, and Blue; Your choice…dress to show us your anticipated hobbies, profession, or passion – OR – dress in red, white, and blue.

Character Day (chapel families choose and plan a character theme for your chapel family) All chapel families wear one color from the flag of your country in the upcoming Chapel Family Olympics (for instance, if your country is Canada, your chapel family would choose to wear either red or white)

March 30 - April 2, is ITBS Testing Week for Grades 2-8 in the mornings!

Make plans now to be ready for testing week!  If you have doctor / dentist / etc. appointments during the morning hours this week, please re-schedule them. It is a tremendous distraction to your student, as well as the others in the class, to have students pulled out during the middle of a test.  They should have multiple sharpened pencils with an eraser (not mechanical). It’s near the end of the year; ask your student if their pencils still have erasers and is the pencil more than an inch long? If not, it is time to invest in a couple of new pencils!  Testing typically starts at 8:30 a.m. sharp, so your students will need to be on time. Classroom doors open at 8:10 a.m. each morning, and school begins/attendance is taken at 8:20 a.m.  Students who arrive tardy will be admitted to their classrooms only after the current test is finished, and that student/parent will need to make up that test at a later point.

There will be more information closer to testing week, but for now, just be aware it is coming and, if possible, re-schedule morning appointments during that week.
