attached for more info Covid Update - Praise God with the 4 day weekend and time to really social distance. We have NOT heard of any contacts so we will continue to proceed cautiously with school and the Fallapalooza this SATURDAY.

Fallapalooza – Auction & BBQ meal are still being planned for Saturday - October 24 with a lot of health safety precautions in place. Please get your tickets early so we know how much food to prepare. Details and order form are on the attached flyer. Also, please keep bringing us your little stuffed animals and small toys that we can give away as prizes.

FALLAPALOOZA – PLEASE BRING THIS: We need students in each class to bring items to contribute towards our Fallapalooza activities, to keep the expenses down. Wednesday - PJ Day Thursday - FLS Spirit Day Friday - Costume Day (This is a change from what was announced in last week's Chatter! If you would like, wear your costume on Friday. Costumes should be appropriate and must meet dress code. No scary costumes or masks. Please remember that we are a Christian school, so please make sure your costume is Christian-school appropriate.)

Activities during the week will include coloring contests, a chance for a daily prize for those who participate, and a Penny War! Each building - ECE, Elementary, and Middle - will be competing with the grades in their building. Pennies add points to your class total, and anything silver deducts points from your class total. The class with the most points in each building at the end of the school day on Friday, October 30, will receive a class prize. The student council has chosen Samaritan's Purse as our philanthropy project. Money raised from the Penny War will be used to make Christmas boxes for children in other countries.

BOXTOPS: The BoxTop program is giving us one more chance to turn in paper BoxTops. If you have any laying around your house, this is the last call for any and all paper box tops! Please send them to school by October 26.

CHRISTMAS DECORATION DONATIONS: Do you have too many Christmas decorations? Do you have decorations you haven’t used in years and your kids have said they have plenty of their own? Well, we know just what you need to do with them! The Guild is collecting used Christmas decorations which they will be selling at the annual Christmas Market. Just gather them up and bring them to the Cry Room in the Narthex and they will do the rest.

GRANDPARENTS DAY – We are making plans for splitting Grandparents Day to Monday afternoon Nov. 23 for students with last names beginning with A through L and then M through Z will be on Tuesday morning. Meals, programs, worship, book fair, and classroom visits will be on both days.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) at the church is now collecting used (clean) shoes and items for Baby Kits (see bottom of this Chatter for items needed). You may drop off these donations in the school office.

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: We have made it to the end of the 1st quarter. It went fast, but at times seemed to crawl slowly as we continued to monitor possible Covid contacts or concerns. We praise God for you and your patience and diligence in staying health alert and precautious.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: I hope everyone had a great Fall Break! This week we are learning all about the letter V and the sound it makes. We are continuing to work hard on our names as well. Parents, as it is turning colder, please make sure your child brings a jacket with their name on it. We will be doing parent teacher conferences this week; thank you for signing up on Class Tag. Have a great week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful fall break! Trike-a-Thon donations are due online or to me on Friday. Thank you to all those that have collected donations and to the kids who rode. I think they had a great time! Conferences are today, tomorrow, and Friday after school. If you signed up on Class Tag you should receive a reminder. Friday we dismiss at 11:15. Thank you Mrs. Honick for all of the hard work on our auction project, and to the parents who contributed money and items. Thank you Mrs. Honick and Mrs. Matthiesen for helping paint pumpkins for our pumpkin contest! Fallapalooza is on Saturday. I hope you all have made plans to come.

Our Costume party will be on Friday, October 30th. Look for the note in mail folders today. Our Bible words this week are God says, "I am with you." Genesis 28:15 We are learning the letters Pp,Tt,Ii and the number 3 this week. Have a Blessed week!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break last weekend! If you want to order (scholastic.com) books for your child our class code online is DWY6G. The order will be due by this Friday the 23rd. After that I will send the order in. I hope to see all parents at our conferences on the 22 nd and 23rd (this week). Have a marvelous week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: I hope everyone enjoyed your Fall Break and now we are ready to start the 2nd quarter! I am looking forward to meeting with you for our Parent Teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday. Memory verse for Friday is Psalm 23:1 - The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Book orders are due online or with a check to me by tomorrow (Thursday). Thank you Ashley Engle for getting projects and our game organized for Saturday. We are looking forward to a fun day! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: All is well in second grade. We enjoyed our walk to the park on Thursday. Thanks to Mrs. Wade and Mrs. Kinkaid for delivering our Sonic treats. A fun reward for some great readers. It's a new quarter and we have new goals. Encourage your child to read, read, read. Thank you for taking time to visit with me regarding your child's progress. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. We're excited for Fallapalooza on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who is making this possible. Book orders are due October 30. Blessings!

THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: Welcome 2nd quarter, everything starts fresh. I hope everyone enjoyed their fall breaks. I know it was nice to get caught up on things. This week: Spelling and Reading test on Friday. Paragraphs are back. Memory: 1st Commandment and its meaning. Science: new unit on plants. A.R. goals are new; ask your child what their new goal is. We are going to work on not waiting so long to meet our goals. Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thank you everyone for meeting with me this week. I am excited for our growth so far and I cannot wait to see what this next quarter brings us.

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Welcome back after a long weekend. I pray that you all took the time to rest and relax with the Lord! Thank you for the great conferences. It is truly a blessing when parents are involved for their students. We are having a short week at the beginning of a new quarter. This means new chances and opportunities to SHINE for JESUS! We will have new AR goals. I can already see many kids REALLY determined to make this goal! Nightly 2

reading is necessary for AR success. A new quarter also means a fresh start with grades. Please continue to help your children look at their assignments for their supported success, and check to make sure they are not having late work.

Continue to be blessed and praise the Lord as we are his workmanship.

FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: We're looking forward to Fallapalooza this Saturday. I hope you are able to join us for this fun event. This quarter will be a bit different; I get to teach 5th grade social studies on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I will be here all afternoon. I am looking forward to being with these great kids more! I will also be seeing to AR for this quarter. Your child needs a book here within his/her reading level every day. If the goal is met by the end of the quarter your child gets to go to the trampoline park in Stillwater. Blessings!

MIDDLE SCHOOL Mrs. Scott: Welcome back! I pray that everyone had a restful Fall Break! It is already the 2nd Quarter and all math classes are right back at it with their next lessons. Everyone starts the quarter with a clean slate with no late work.

Let’s keep it that way!

5th Grade Math will complete Lessons 27, 28, and 29 this week and will have their next test on Tuesday, October th 27 .

6R Math began Chapter 4 yesterday. We will be covering number theory and fractions this chapter.

6A/7R Math began Chapter 4 yesterday and will be covering number patterns and fractions this chapter.

7A Math began Chapter 4 yesterday and will be covering factors, fractions, and exponents this chapter.

8R Math is working on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equation. I encourage the students to slow down on their homework and make sure they have each part of the equation simplified. Chapter 3 Test will be on Tuesday, October 27th.

8A Math has started Chapter 3 and will be working on solving linear equations.

Mrs. Hanson: This week we are reflecting on our first quarter. We will be looking at our grades in each class and figuring out why our grade is what it is. We will also be thinking about good habits we have that help us be successful and other habits we either don't possess and need to start developing or that we have and may just be weak and we need to make stronger so that we can be the most successful that we can be.

Conference letters have gone home…please make sure you see the letter, sign, and return it.

Sixth grade families please make sure your soda and gift cards are here no later than Friday so that we are prepared for Fallapalooza on Saturday. Please also remember that there is a sign-up sheet to work the potato bar. This is not mandatory but will allow you to raise money toward your Washington DC trip.

Ms. Kester: Bye bye to Quarter 1 and hello to Quarter 2! The students are refreshed after a much-appreciated Fall Break, and I am glad to see their smiling faces again. This week, we're simultaneously preparing for Fallapalooza, our mock election, and next week's History tests. Religion classes are rolling along nicely, too. Other than that, I don't have much else to say except stay blessed!

Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings, Everyone! I hope you had a marvelous Fall Break and are ready to begin the second quarter! I always remind the students that second quarter will go by fast. Before we know it, it will be Thanksgiving Break and then Christmas Break. With basketball games starting along with Cheer, it is imperative for students to stay on top of their assignments and their grades. Student/Parent/Teacher conferences are this week. If you would like to schedule a meeting with one or all of your student's teachers, please send a note to the homeroom teacher, and we will schedule a time. In all classes, we have begun a new grammar unit. All classes will also be starting new novels on Monday. That's all for now! Blessings on the rest of your week!

GIFT CARDS IN THE OFFICE! SCRIP/GIFT CARD SALES: Christmas is coming; are you prepared? A lot of you will begin your Christmas shopping in the next few weeks; be sure to stop by the school office and pick up gift cards for the stores that you are planning on visiting, or purchase gift cards to give. The retailers sell the gift cards to us at a discount, we sell them to you at face value, and then the school uses the profit to purchase/fund activities for the school! We have a variety on-hand in the office for purchase, but there are many more merchants available for ordering! To place an order, or to purchase what we have on-hand, just come by the office.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: To make tuition and other payments a little less of a hassle, we take cash, checks, and credit cards. Additionally, if you desire, we can store your credit card number and run it weekly on Friday’s, monthly (on the 16th), or only when you call or email and request it. In these cases, we send your receipts home with your students. Auto-withdrawals are also available, where your specified amount is automatically drafted from your bank account on the 16th, and applied to the accounts that you designate. If you have any questions about any of these services, or would like to sign up for them, please stop by or call the school office at 580-762-9950.
