ADVENT SUPPERS: This year FLCS will host our first intergenerational Advent Suppers on 12/4 and 12/11 from 5-6.

What is an intergenerational supper? Intergenerational suppers provide the opportunity to fellowship with congregants of different generations, seating you and your family at a table with those whom you may not have had the opportunity to get to know otherwise! There will be Bible verses/devotion topics placed at each table to encourage conversation and sharing of traditions. This is a great chance for our youth to meet our elders, and our School families and young families to mingle with our experienced families. Then, join us for advent service in the Sanctuary at 6:30.

Drop by between 9-4 to do some Christmas shopping! While you’re here, swing by the fellowship hall for lunch from 11-? (until they run out) for pulled pork sandwiches or brats, German potatoes, coleslaw, German apple cake, and drink for $8, or hot dogs, chips, and a drink for $5.

Proceeds from Christmas Market go to help fund FLS Scholarships!

Y.A.L.L.: The “Young-ish adults living life” group meets every Thursday evening from 7-8 in the youth house. We are currently doing a video series of an “outsider visits the Lutheran church”.

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Welcome to the last month of this decade. I pray that you will have 2020 vision focused on our Lord in this new year.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Thank you to our Room mom Leah Erickson for the awesome job she did for Grandparent's Day! Thank you also to all the parents that provided all of the food, Grandparent's Day was such a joy; a shout out goes to my students as well for their great performance! This week we are learning all about the letter J and the sound it makes. We are also going to start on all of our Christmas crafts!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Gillespie: December is here and the excitement fills the classroom. This week we will be learning the letter S and the number 11. Friday is Show and Tell; please remember it must be able to fit in their backpack.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Happy December! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Thank you to all of the parents that sent supplies and helped set up and serve for our Grandparents' Day! We couldn't have special events without your help! Book Orders came home before Thanksgiving and are due back by Friday. They will be back before Christmas Day. Show and Tell is on Friday. Our Christmas party is on Thursday the 19th. Look for the note in folders today. We will have a half day on the 20th, and will have a pajama/movie day. Our Bible words are, My spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Luke 1:47 We are starting the letter cluster Ff, Hh, and Dd and are learning the number 7 this week. Have a Blessed Week!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: This Thursday, December 5th (tomorrow) we will go on our field trip at Cowley College to see a production of "The Snow Queen". Please meet in the kindergarten room and we will leave the school by 12:10 and return by about 2:45 for those taking other children. I will have directions for you if you want them. We will be at school for lunch that day. Thank you to all the grandparents that made our "Grandparents day" so special! Also, we will have show and tell this Friday on the 6th. Have a wonderful week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: I hope everyone had a very blessed Thanksgiving! We only have 3 weeks of school left in this 1st semester! Time has gone so fast! This is a very busy time of the year, but please be sure to keep up with reading with your child. We are learning a lot of new phonics skills and these need to be reinforced at home with their reading. Our memory verse for Friday is Matthew 28:19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Thank you to those of you that purchased a book from the book fair for our classroom. We love to get new books! TOMORROW IS OUR FIELD TRIP to Cowley College to see the play of The Snow Queen. We are planning on leaving around 12:10. If your child is riding with another parent, please remember to bring their car seat. The play is about an hour long. Our Christmas party will be on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 2:15. Happy birthday to Houston on December 7! Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Advent greetings! What a wonderful time of the year with all of the fun events and extras! Be sure to keep JESUS at the center of your plans and activities. We loved Grandparents' Day. Thanks to Mr. Birnbaum, Mrs. Erickson, the people in the cafeteria, and all who made it happen. We are blessed. We're excited about our trip to see The Snow Queen on Thursday. Thanks to those of you who are able to take us. We wish a happy December birthday to Aly and Skylar. God's Blessings, dear Friends! THIRD GADE – Mrs. Steichen: I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! Believe it or not we only have 3 weeks left till Christmas break. That means 3 weeks to keep up our grades and make our AR goals. Please mark your calendars for December 19th for our A.R. party to the trampoline park in Stillwater, and also December 20th (half day) for our Christmas party. This week: Spelling Test on Friday, Science test on Thursday, How to Eat Fried worm test on Friday, with the movie to follow. Kids are able to bring pillows and blankets. Book Reports: Thank you for all your hard work. The projects look AMAZING!! I cannot wait to have the kids present them. Please come have a look in our hallway and see all the hard work that was put into these! Thank you! Thank you to Rose and Family, Braxton and Family, and Rhett and Family for their donations of books to our classroom library. The kids are excited to read them. Have a wonderful week!!

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: I hope that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving, and a well rested break. Good food, loved ones, and a break from the normal routine to give thanks and prepare for the coming of the Lord will always equal a fantastic time! If choosing to order from classroom book orders, they are due no later than Wednesday the 11th, so we may have books by Christmas break. Look for information in this week’s Friday Letter about our Gift Exchange.

This AR goal ends the 17th, so we may jump in Stillwater on the 19th! Some have made their goal, and others are at various places to making AR goals. It is easier when we have daily uninterrupted reading at school and at home. Do you get the test alerts and emails for AR tests? Ask for login info if needed. Please continue to look over daily student work for simple mistakes; let’s make sure that we don’t go to Christmas break too early! Don’t forget your picture; so that we can make our special project. The project does not happen without the picture!

FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: Grandparent's Day was such a delight! First Lutheran families are blessed with awesome kids, parents and grandparents. What a joy to work with you all! Tomorrow is our trip to Cowley College to see "The Snow Queen". We will leave at 8:45 and be back by 11:30. Happy birthday in this delectable month of December to Rian (4)!

FIFTH GRADE SCIENCE – Mrs. Hanson: We have read about tools used in science, now we will get to work with the tools used in science. Monday we used a virtual microscope to examine specimens, Wednesday we will use flasks, beakers, and graduated cylinders to measure the volume of liquids, and Friday we will use a 3 beam balance and spring scales to measure mass and weight (which are not the same thing ;)…ask your student why!)

MIDDLE SCHOOL FLY: Advent schedule for FLY 5:30-7:00. NO FLY DEC 18th!

Mrs. Scott: I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving break! We have only 2.5 weeks left before Christmas break which means ALL assignments needs to be turned in on time. General 6th Grade Math completed test corrections earlier this week and have started Chapter 6 with mean, medium, mode, and range. Advanced 6th/General 7th Grade Math are simplifying equations. Advanced 7th Grade Math is working with ratios. Algebra 8 is working with slope and slope intercept form. Advanced Algebra is solving linear systems by graphing.

6th Grade Religion: Memory work due today were the first 17 books of the New Testament. Memory work due on 12/11 will be the remaining books of the New Testament (Philemon-Revelation).

Mrs. Hanson: 6th grade is learning about physical and chemical properties and changes in matter. We are making interactive notebook pages that will be great study tools.

7th grade is breaking down weathering, erosion, and soils while doing online homework and in class hands on activities.

8th grade is sorting through invertebrates with online homework and body systems with in class discussions.

All classes will have vocabulary quizzes this Friday.

If any class is going to be missed because an athlete will be going to the Hope Tournament, all work must be collected and turned in before leaving.

Mr. Covert: We’re into December! I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break, and is ready to get back to work!

Classes are going to pick up where we left off. 8th grade will be looking at the final breaking points that caused the Civil War. In 7th grade, we’re going to slide to the east and look at Eastern Europe and Western Russia. As for 6th grade, we’re going to be starting a unit on ancient Rome.

Mrs. Harbeson: Welcome Back! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break full of family, food, fellowship, and fun! Grandparents' Day last Tuesday was as fun as ever...it was great seeing a sanctuary full of students and grandparents worshiping our Savior! Now that we are back, we have about three weeks left to finish up the second semester. I encourage all of you to work hard and finish strong! Please keep up with your assignments and your grades.

If you will be leaving for Christmas break before December 20, it is imperative for you to let me and your other teachers know so you can get all assignments handed in and all tests taken before leaving for Christmas break. A few other things...

Good luck to our basketball players and cheerleaders as they travel to the Hope Tournament this weekend. Safe -3-

travels to you all and play/perform to God's glory! I know you'll represent our school well!

The student council will be selling chocolate bars to raise money for their philanthropy project and to pay for the cost of a DJ at the winter dance. They will be selling World's Finest Chocolates' chocolate bars at $1 each. Please support us! You may purchase your candy bars from any student council member or from me in my room.

Speaking of the dance... Friday, February 21, is our date! We will be giving more information about the dance in future Chatters!

8th graders and parents... our trip to the Tulsa Ballet will be here before we know it! (December 13) If you have not paid your money yet, please send that ASAP ($22 per ticket). I will be sending home another information letter about our field trip closer to the date.
