Covid Update - We pray that you and your family are staying safe and healthy. We have had a couple of staff and students who were exposed over the break, but they have had limited exposure to our student body. We will continue to monitor the situations and pray that any symptoms be minor and recovery quick.

CHRISTMAS MARKET: Be sure to stop by the Gym and the Fellowship Hall for the Christmas Market this Saturday from 9:00 – 4:00. They’ll have lots of unique items for Christmas gifts for those on your list, & the proceeds go to support the First Lutheran School Scholarship Fund. A HUGE thank you to everyone who makes this a success!

LIBRARY – Mrs. Manning: Thank you to everyone for making the book fair a success. We are able to purchase new books for our library thanks to your help! I hope everyone continues to stay safe & healthy; Merry Christmas to all!

STUDENT COUNCIL – Mrs. Harbeson: It's been a while since we've posted anything due to the middle distance learning week. Now that everyone is back, we have news!

The Penny War raised $311.32; thank you all for participating. Due to the middle school distance learning week, we were not able to participate in Samaritan's Purse. Instead, we will be adopting children off the Angel Tree and using the proceeds to buy them presents.

KINDLES FOR SALE: We found a few more Kindle Fire’s that were left over after the middle school upgraded to ChromeBooks. The one’s we sold previously were 5 GB, so I believe that’s what these are, also. They do not come with charging cords or cases, but they are all charged so you can come look them over. They are first person with payment/first served, 1 for $25, 2 for $40. Stop by Connie’s office to take a look and/or purchase them. We only have 8 (one has a cracked screen), so don’t wait if you are interested.

The earlier the better so that we can get them organized for the big night.

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: I can't believe we are at the end of our first semester. I praise God for his hedge of protection and pray that he will keep us safe and healthy as we prepare for His second coming.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and break! Christmas is coming fast; I can't believe it! This week we are learning all about the letter C and the sound it makes. Thank you to all the Mom's that sent goodies for Grandparent's Day! Have a great week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Merry Christmas season! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and time with your family! Thank you to all that helped or sent goodies for our Grandparents' Day. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all! The kids did a great job singing. Thank you for all of the books that you donated to our classroom from the book fair! We are going to love reading them! Brr it is cold! PLEASE send a coat with your child's name in it every day! We go outside for recess every day, and it is too cold to be out without a coat. Book orders are in folders today.

They are due online or to me on Monday, December 7th. This is earlier than normal, so that we can get it back before Christmas break. Our Christmas party is coming up; look for the note in folders today. Our Bible words this week are, My spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Luke 1:47 We are learning the letters Ff,Hh,Dd and the number 7 this week. Have a Blessed week!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: This Friday December 4th is show and tell. We will have a gift exchange at our Christmas party (kids only) this year. Boys bring a boy gift ($8-$10) and girls bring a girl gift ($8-$10) also please wrap the gift and put from (your child's name) on it. For more upcoming information please look on ClassTag, thank you. I think this may be our last Teacher Chatter until the new year, so Merry Christmas and have a great week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: I pray that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It was great to see all of the Grandparents last week. Thank you to all of you that purchased a book for our classroom. It is greatly appreciated and we love getting new books to read! It's hard to believe that we are into December already and we only have a few weeks left of the 1st semester! Please turn in your November reading logs by tomorrow if you have not done so yet. I will be posting information for our class Christmas Party on Class Tag. Happy December birthdays to Thatcher on the 11th and to Henley on the 16th. Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy Advent! What a wonderful time of the year as we prepare to welcome our newborn King! Thank you to Mrs. Goll for being such a blessing to our class and to me. I knew the children were in excellent care with her at the helm. God has blessed my sons and me with so much kindness as my husband went to be with Jesus. I appreciate your expressions of love. Continue to keep us in your prayers. Have a blessed and joyous Christmas season!

THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: Hello December!! I pray everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This week: Spelling Test on Friday. Memory: 6th Commandment due Friday; next week is the 7th. Reading: We are reading another chapter book together. So no reading test this week or next. Math: We had a test yesterday and will have another one next Thursday. Social Studies: We are working on our Native American Unit. Science: We are finishing up with Chapter 4: Ecosystems. Look out for a test next week. Grandparents Day: The kids did amazing! Check Facebook for the live stream of the event. Auction: Next week we will hold our class auction. If you are able and willing, I would love donations to 2

help with this event. I usually do not spend more the $5 on an item. The kids love food, candy, gift cards, toys, etc.

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: I hope that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving, and a well rested break. Good food, loved ones, and a break from the normal routine to give thanks and prepare for the coming of the Lord will always equal a fantastic time! We will have our class auction next week some time. If you have goodies at home, or are out and about and see good deals that you are willing to donate, bring them on in to the room. Are you using secret weapons for children’s school? The planner, folder, & Fast Direct! This will tell you everything you need to know about your child’s school day when it’s filled out, and papers put in appropriate folders. Don’t forget FD shows grades. These are vital parts to being in tune with what kids do in school. Please make sure that planners are signed nightly. Keep reading for AR! Some are doing great & are close to making goals; some need some good reading time to catch up. The region to study is the Northeast. The test is on December 9th. Continue to think of the things that that God has richly blessed us with, in this season. Blessing as we count our gifts from God, as we share them with others.

FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: It sounds like many had a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving break. We are SO glad to welcome back our quarantined students: Kinley, Michaela, Claire, Cailyn, and Anniston. We have missed them! I wish each of you a blessed Christmas, and hopefully a brand new start to the new year, 2021. May your Christmas be filled with peace, joy, love and hope. Because of Jesus we have all these gifts. Blessings to you all!

MIDDLE SCHOOL Mrs. Scott: 5th Grade Math completed Lesson 40 on Monday. We completed Investigation 4 on Tuesday and began Lesson 41 today. Our next math test will be on December 9th.

6R Math started Chapter 5 this week. We will continue working with fractions.

6A/7R Math started reviewing for their Chapter 5 Test on Monday. The test was taken today. We will begin Chapter 6 tomorrow.

8R Math started reviewing for their Chapter 4 Test yesterday. The test will be taken on Thursday. We will begin Chapter 5 on Friday.

8A Math is continuing with graphing. PLEASE use graph paper. :) Mrs. Hanson: I know these are super crazy times, but let's try to maintain some normalcy. Students are still learning, teachers are still teaching, and work is still being done.

All classes are involved in a really fun/cool program from OG&E. 5th-8th grade is learning all about energy, energy resources, and energy conservation. Students have new "text books", a workbook, and a kit with lots of energy saving devices for the home! ALL FOR FREE! I would like everyone to participate for the time being, but of course I'm not asking you to change your home or lifestyle for the rest of your life.

All work will be done in the workbook, all information comes from the "Student Guide". I will supplement info as well through the use of some digital/virtual resources.

The kit can go home and stay at home and will only be used/implemented when I give instruction to do so, so please don't get anxious about getting things done and installed just yet. The workbooks need to be in school every day and may have to be taken home if work needs to be done.

On a completely different note about grades: All classes have tested and are moving on to our energy unit which normally means no late work will be accepted. However, many grades, for whatever reason, are in the toilet. There is no way some of those grades could rise just by keeping up with current work. SO if there is any late, missing, or work that needs to be redone from the last chapter, I will accept it through this week ONLY! Please do not take this for granted or take advantage of it thinking I will let this happen every time.

On another separate note: The middle school will be presenting a special Christmas program for our school and families on December 11 at 1:30 pm in the sanctuary. Students will be reading scripture, sharing Nativity information, and carols will be sung. Please join us in these times of uncertainty to celebrate the certainty of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ms. Kester: We've almost made it to the end of 2020; it's December, baby! That means tests, more tests, annnnnnd Christmas musical! Mrs. Hanson has put a great foundation in place for the program, and now it's time to build on it. Vocal auditions finished today, and guess what? First Lutheran has some great voices! I hope you can join us 3

for the event. In the meantime, your students will be studying the rest of the week for their History tests and Scripture memorizations - both taking place this Friday. Until then, put up that Christmas tree and enjoy the snow!

Mrs. Harbeson: Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break and are ready to finish up our last few weeks of the second quarter. In language, all classes will finish their books, quizzes, and take the AR tests before Christmas Break. In language, all classes will have one more grammar unit that will include a final test. Don't forget to gather all papers that I have handed back to you and get them in your folder for extra credit. That's all for now!
