Covid Update - One case in the Middle School but HALLELUJAH it was over the weekend and it was a runny nose & loss of smell on Sunday night. We quarantined the class to be sure and are trying out the VIRTUAL. PLEASE keep children at home if they are quarantined or if they have any symptoms. We want to be healthy especially with Grandparents Day & Thanksgiving coming up.

BOOK FAIR IS COMING! – Ms. Manning Our Scholastic Book Fair will be starting on Monday, Nov 16 (with precautions) in the main Library in the Administration Building.

Tuesday, Nov 17 will be Donuts with Dads for last names A-L. Wed, Nov 18 will be the same for last names M-Z. Thursday, Nov 19 will be Muffins with Moms last names A-L, Friday, Nov 20 will be the same for last names M-Z. If your day does not work for your schedule please come on the day that does!

Monday, Nov 23 will be Grandparent's Day and Book Fair for ECE families, and K-8 families with the last names starting A-L. Tuesday will be Grandparent's Day for K-8 and Book Fair for families with the last names starting M-Z. K-8 can find your visiting times below, PS & PK are welcome to come after your grandparents’ celebration. Everyone, please come visit us and make our book fair a success!

CHRISTMAS DECORATION DONATIONS: Do you have too many Christmas decorations? Do you have decorations you haven’t used in years and your kids have said they have plenty of their own? Well, we know just what you need to do with them! The Guild is collecting used Christmas decorations which they will be selling at the annual Christmas Market. Just gather them up and bring them to the office and will get them to them.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) at the church is now collecting used (clean) shoes and items for Baby Kits (see bottom of this Chatter for items needed). You may drop off these donations in the school office.

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support for the school. The Fallapalooza - BBQ cook-off & Auctions raised around $8,000. We praise God for all of the help that went into this extravaganza.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: This week in preschool we are learning all about the letter I and the sound it makes.

Thank you to Mrs. Morrison (Steven's mom) for coming and helping the children plant some plants! Please check Class Tag and sign up to send something for Grandparent’s Day. The children are getting really excited about it! Also make sure you send back the Grandparent's Day forms, so that we will have an idea of how many to expect. Have a great week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Happy Birthday Quinn! Great job on bringing cans for our food drive! Money offerings will go toward buying gifts for Operation Christmas Child. We will also fill two boxes in our classroom. Look for the note in folders today. The Grandparents' Day signup sheet was due back to me today. Please return it tomorrow so that we can get our count finalized. Our Bible words this week are, Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11 We are still learning the letters Nn,Cc,Oo and the number 5. Have a Blessed week!

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: I am excited to come back to school! I have missed your children! Please save the dates of Nov. 23rd and 24th for the children's "Grandparents' Day" at school. I am not totally sure how we will do everything yet but I will send more information home as I find out. I would like to thank all my substitutes during my absence for a job well done! Have an awesome week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory verse for Friday is - Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened...for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. We are collecting canned food for our chapel offerings this month. Today was a contest between the girls and the boys. Next week will be a contest between each grade in our building. Please sign up to bring an item to fill our shoe box for our Samaritan Purse Project. You will find this information on Class Tag. We are excited about Grandparent's Day coming up on November 23 and 24. Please see the schedule in the chatter and please invite your Grandparents! Happy birthday to Kingston on Friday! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Goll (for Mrs. Powell): I am really enjoying getting to know these second graders. They continue to improve in their reading skills. Please read with them daily. I hope you're enjoying the turkey project; the new due date is Thursday, 11/12. We're preparing for Grandparents' Day. Happy Birthday a week late to Bennett. Please continue to keep Mrs. Powell and her family in your prayers. God bless you and your family always.

THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: Brr... We have had another weather change. Kids will be going outside, so please make sure they have appropriate clothing. Please make sure names are in jackets, so they can be returned if lost. Red Ribbon Week: Thank you to Mrs. Harbeson and Stu Co for all their hard work and making it a fun week. I know the penny war was a huge hit! Thank you parents for emptying out all your change. This week: Spelling and Reading Test on Friday.

Spelling for next week is Unit 2 Review words. Next week, we will also start a chapter book in class. Math: Test on Thursday. Science- Test on plants on Friday; a review sheet will come home today. Social Studies: WE are finishing up a report on a famous American. We will start our next unit study on Native Americans next week. I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Stay healthy.

FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: It is really good seeing God working in our families, lives, and our classrooms.

Friday brings us reading test, memory test of first commandment, with verse to support, SW State & Cap test, & nationalities project. Midterms come out on Wednesday. This means we are half way into a short quarter for grades and AR goals. Are you content with how your student is performing? Make sure we are taking late work seriously. It is a very unhealthy habit to be in and even harder to get out of. Detentions are being handed out for the third late assignment in a week. I can’t wait for the books fair next week. There will be a lot of great book selections. Please let me know if your child will not be here for Grandparent’s day ASAP. Don’t forget to dress appropriately for the ever changing weather.

FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: What a busy month November is for many of the students! With ballgames and the various activities that many are involved in I don't know how you all keep up! What a blessing to have healthy, happy, involved kids! See my FD Planner for an update on tests this week and our special Friday afternoon that we have planned. Blessings!

FIFTH GRADE SCIENCE – Mrs. Hanson: 5th grade will be performing a few investigations this week after studying all the different types of investigations. They will take a quiz Friday over Lesson 2-3.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Mrs. Scott: 5th Grade Math is working their way to Lesson 34. Once we complete Lesson 34, we will review and have our next test. The next test is tentatively scheduled for THIS Friday.

6R Math will wrap up Chapter 4 later this week and begin reviewing for their next test. Chapter 4 Test is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday.

6A/7R Math started reviewing for their Chapter 4 Test today. Their test will be THIS Friday.

7A Math took their Chapter 4 Test today and will begin Chapter 5 on Thursday.

8R Math has started Chapter 4. This chapter will cover factors, fractions, and exponents. The later lessons in this chapter will get more complicated so it is important for the students to fully understand all lessons and do their best on their homework.

Mrs. Hanson: 6th grade is understanding the real "gravity" of our content this week and learning about mass and weight. Their whole little lives have been confusing them and giving them some major misconceptions with these terms so have them explain the difference of each and how most people get the two mixed up.

They will have a content quiz this Friday, not a vocab quiz. The content quiz will cover material we have learned from Ch. 2.

7th grade being quarantined will have classes online virtually on Zoom. They will need to meet every day online for science at 10:45 having answered the "Bell Ringer" by 10:50. Our first meeting went well. But students need to behave in a Zoom class the same way they would behave in the classroom. They need to be seated at a desk or table with their materials for class. They need to sit still not eating or drinking or being a distraction. It's very easy to get distracted by each other being on one screen.

We will be reviewing all week and will take a test Monday in one way or another.

8th grade is reviewing all this week and will test over Ch. 2 Classification on Friday.

Ms. Kester: SEVENTH GRADERS: Oh, how I miss thee. But I'm hopeful that it won't be long before we see one another again. In the meantime, stay well and abreast of all things History. It was great seeing all of your smiling faces on Zoom! We will steamroll right into our next chapter, so tune-in with Chromebooks, textbooks, binders, spirals, pencils, and all other materials that make our meeting time productive. 8:30 sharp! Don't be late.

As our virtual time this week does not include Religion, our Scripture of the Week has been held over to next Friday, November 20. So, you just got an extra seven days to meditate on that awesome passage! It is one of my favorites and so very timely, for sure.

Parents, thank you for all you're doing during this time. I absolutely adore teamwork and you are great teammates!

EIGHTH GRADERS: Whew! Another History test down. You, too, will be breezing into the next chapter. Our pace will pick up now that you are not juggling mock election matters, so be ready. As for Religion, we will begin our table-talk format. I believe it to be very fitting for your class and for the next lessons on our agenda. So come with your cameraready and intelligent selves. See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADERS: I was so very proud of your focus and determination during our History test. I am expecting great things, and I know you are, too. Thank you for respecting your classmates as they tested and being so respectful of our learning environment as a whole. And much gratitude to Mrs. Cindy for her one-on-one assistance! See you all tomorrow, bright and cheery, as we begin a new chapter.

Mrs. Harbeson: Hello, Everyone...I'd like to welcome Onnaleigh Beathard to 6th grade and our FLS family! In language class, 6th is finishing up capitalization and will have a test this Friday. They have also started "Hatchet" for literature. 7th grade Zoom meetings are underway. I've sent a fastdirect message to all parents explaining how I will run our class meetings. 8th grade will also have a capitalization test on Friday, and we have begun reading "A Christmas Carol" in class. Dear Parents and Grandparents, This year our Book Fair Schedule will be slightly different. I have split up our event days by last name to lessen the number of people in close quarters with others. If your event day does not work with your schedule, please still attend another day. We want our school year to be as normal as possible while still taking necessary precautions to keep our students and families safe and healthy. Our students look forward to attending the book fair every year with their families and I am so happy that they will still get the opportunity to attend.
