Desktop Paintings Dear Reader, !

This e-book is called ʻDesktop Paintingsʼ because the format is 9 X 12; the 17 paintings could have easily been called ʻAbstract Miniaturesʼ as well. I thought of this title because with such a small size, perhaps having them on oneʼs desk at work for example might be the ideal place for exhibiting them. Painting on a small surface has some interesting challenges: How do you paint them? What kind of painting can you paint? But the greatest challenge is how to have a successful painting and itʼs not the format. Itʼs the artistʼs skill that is the most important thing. However, your eye is the best judge. !

As a self-taught artist I have done a lot of abstract painting, now it is mostly done at the end of a painting session when I have finished working on a painting project. It is a time where I donʼt think but use instinct instead. I have tried to paint them using color to define space. The spaces are where the eye can ʻfleeʼ and that is what I believe makes an abstract painting have an interest to the viewer. If oneʼs eye can ʻescapeʼ from the chaos, some kind of satisfaction is felt. You see into a new world.
