Mars Completes Acquisition of Kellanova
Mars Snacking Communications Previously, we announced Mars had entered into an agreement to acquire Kellanova, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. We are pleased to announce that as of 12 December 2025, Mars, Incorporated has completed its acquisition of Kellanova on a global level. This acquisition brings together two value-based, purpose-led organizations with some of the world’s most iconic brands, all of which have been nurtured and grown by worldclass talent with deep expertise. Our goal is to deliver more choice and innovation to consumers and customers. The new combined Mars Snacking organization will operate in attractive snacking categories, adding Kellanova’s three billion-dollar brands – Kellogg’s, Pringles and Cheez-It – to the Mars business. Integrations like this take time and careful planning. For now, it is important to understand that 8

with Mark Taska
A brief history on yourself – career, family, sports and hobbies: I’ve spent close to 30 years in the beverage industry, working across both non-alcoholic and alcoholic brands. My career began as a Sales Representative in Newcastle and has grown through diverse roles over the decades. For the past five years, I’ve been part of Suntory Oceania, contributing to significant transformation initiatives and the exciting launch of our multibev business this year. Outside of work, my greatest joy is watching my children grow into young adults. Abbey is now a primary school teacher, Brayden is in his third year studying civil engineering at university, and Sienna is thriving in Year 9. My wife, an Occupational Therapist, has successfully run her own business for over 10 years, supporting children with disabilities. 12 The Distributors Update – Nov/Dec 2025
When it comes to sport, I’m a passionate Newcastle Knights NRL member, I never miss a game, whether I’m in the stands or watching from home. What do you best like about your work? One of the most fulfilling aspects of my career has been the relationships I’ve built along the way. These connections go beyond business, they create trust, collaboration, and shared success. Equally rewarding is seeing people grow and develop their capabilities over time. Watching someone gain confidence, master new skills, and achieve their goals reminds me why leadership and mentorship matter. For me, it’s not just about results,

it’s about helping others unlock their potential and thrive in their careers. What is your favourite drink? The Chita – Single Grain Suntory Japanese Whisky – Never tasted a smoother whisky to enjoy over ice. Perfect for moments when you want to slow down and savour something special. Favourite food? I can never go past a classic Chicken Parmigiana served with crispy chips. It’s the ultimate comfort food. Favourite restaurant? On a recent trip to Hobart, I asked the locals for their top dining recommendation. Almost everyone said the same thing: ‘If you can get in, Da Angelo’s Italian is the best.’ They weren’t wrong it was hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The experience was so good that we went back for a second night! From the authentic flavours to the warm atmosphere, it truly lived up to the hype.
How do you best get away from it all and relax? There’s nothing quite like spending time outdoors. For me, camping along the beautiful coastal areas of Northern NSW is hard to beat. The combination of pristine beaches, ocean breezes, and good pubs creates the perfect escape from the everyday hustle. Moments like this remind me how important it is to slow down and appreciate the simple things. What is your proudest accomplishment to date? One of my greatest joys in life is watching my kids grow into young adults and helping them develop the skills they need to thrive. Teaching them life skills like resilience, has been just as rewarding as seeing their achievements. As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? As a kid, I always imagined myself joining the Police Force, it was my

with Mark Taska Continued dream career. Years later, I had a real sliding doors moment when I was accepted into the Police Academy at the same time I was offered a sales position that allowed me to stay local. After a lot of thought, I chose the sales role, and that decision shaped the path I’ve been on ever since. Looking back, it was a turning point that led me into an industry I’ve now been part of for nearly 30 years. Who would you most like to be sitting next to on a long haul flight and why? On a long-haul flight, I’d choose to sit next to my wife. Not only would it make the journey more enjoyable, but I’d also feel comfortable knowing I can relax and spread out without worrying about someone else’s space. If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be? I’d choose to be a world class athlete, someone like Andrew Johns (NRL player) in his prime. Experiencing the skill, discipline, and adrenaline of playing at the highest level would be incredible. Plus, I’d love to feel what it’s like to run out onto the field in 14 The Distributors Update – Nov/Dec 2025
front of thousands of fans and deliver a performance that inspires people. Most embarrassing moment? A few years ago, we had just brought home our new puppy, only eight weeks old and we were celebrating my birthday with friends and family. I stepped out to check the pool area, not realising the puppy had followed me. I heard a splash!,he had slipped off the edge and fallen into the water. Instinctively, I leaned down to grab him, but lost my balance and went headfirst into the pool, fully dressed, while everyone watched and burst into laughter. It’s a moment we still laugh about today!

Mars Celebrates 110 Years of Australian Manufacturing
On behalf of Mars and our 2,000 Australian Associates, I’m writing to let you know about a significant milestone we are celebrating. As of 2025, Mars has proudly been manufacturing products in Australia, by Australians, for Australian consumers and their pets for 110-years. The doors to our first Australian factory on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne were opened in 1915, producing chewing gum under the iconic Wrigley brand. From these humble beginnings, Mars has continually evolved and innovated to meet the ever-changing needs and taste buds of the nation. Mars, which has remained an independent family-owned business since its inception, includes brands loved by Aussie consumers and their pets for generations. 28 The Distributors Update – Nov/Dec 2025
From the humble MILKY WAY®, itself an iconic brand with a 100-year history, to PEDIGREE® for dogs, WHISKAS® cat food, ROYAL CANIN® tailored nutrition for pets and everyone’s dinner time favorite, MASTERFOODS™, Mars has been a staple in the grocery baskets of Australians for over a century and today our brands can be found in nine out of ten Australian households. With a strong belief in local manufacturing, Mars has invested hundreds of millions of dollars and created billions in economic value, including a strong focus on regional Australia. Today, Mars’ Australian
SUPPLIER NEWS
manufacturing footprint includes state-of-the-art plants in Ballarat and Wodonga in Victoria, Asquith, Bathurst and Wyong in New South Wales and Wacol in Queensland. Mars Australia wouldn’t be the success it is today without our Associates. Mars fundamentally believes its people are not just workers but stakeholders and partners in the business. This ‘Associate’ concept fosters a culture of mutual trust, accountability, and shared responsibility; values we extend to our broader ecosystem of partners. Our success is also reliant on the strength of our relationships with our valued customers which, like all our collaborations and partnerships, are underpinned by the Mars Five Principles of Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom.
As we look to write the next chapter in the Mars Australia story, we remain deeply committed to Australian manufacturing, serving our local customers and contributing to the economic and social prosperity of the communities in which we operate. On behalf of all the team here at Mars Australia, thank you for your continued support and collaboration. Here’s to the next 110 years. FIN ANCE UPDATE
Australia: Finance Facts in 2025 From William Lombard – Household wealth hit a record high. According to the most recent statistics, total household wealth rose by A$137.1 billion in the March 2025 quarter — bringing total household wealth to about A$17.31 trillion.
pressures, fewer than 1% of Australian mortgages are in arrears (i.e. behind on repayments), the lowest level since 2022.
the highest in the developed world. As of late 2024/early 2025, the ratio of household debt to household disposable income was around 182%, mainly driven by mortgage debt (≈ 135% of disposable income).
– Australia’s biggest banks remain profitable — but under pressure. The major banks’ combined cash earnings (excluding acquisitions) in the first half of 2025 were about A$15.3 billion, with Return on Equity (ROE) stable at 11.2%. However, net interest margins (NIM) are under “pressure,” showing the squeeze on profits amid changing economic conditions.
– Average new mortgages at record high sizes. As interest rates fell in – Huge borrowing & credit demand. In 2025 (after cuts by the RBA), many that quarter the demand for credit was homebuyers took on unusually large A$136.1 billion. loans — pushing national average new mortgage sizes to record levels. – Household debt remains among
– But many Aussies are actually saving more than ever. As of September 2025, total household deposits/ savings reportedly climbed to a new record of A$1.66 trillion, helping many mortgage-holders build strong “buffers.” – Mortgage arrears are low — for now. Despite interest-rate and inflation
34 The Distributors Update – Nov/Dec 2025
– The economy is limping forward — slow growth. In the June 2025 quarter, real GDP rose 0.6%. Over the 2024–25 financial year, overall economic growth was just 1.3% — the weakest annual
FIN ANCE UPDATE
growth (outside of pandemic years) since the early 1990s. – Household spending remains resilient — especially on non-essentials. That same June quarter saw household discretionary spending increase by 1.4% (spending on hotels, cafes, recreation, etc.), partly driven by public-holiday activity. – Public finances inching back toward surplus. In the June 2025 quarter, the general government net operating balance rose by A$2.1 billion to A$1.8 billion; taxation revenue also rose significantly (+ 9.3%) in that quarter.
– If salaried: wage growth may be modest; real income gains could be limited after cost-of-living rises. – If investing (housing, shares, commodities): returns may be mixed — property may benefit in some regions, but macroeconomic uncertainty and global demand risk could affect returns. – For retirement / long-term savings: inflation + modest growth means you’ll want a diversified strategy (not relying just on property or domestic growth). Have a Merry Christmas and all the best for the start of 2026!
What 2026 may have in store for your finances – If you have a mortgage or debt: budget for continued relatively high interestrate servicing costs; even if rates are cut, inflation or rising housing costs may offset benefits. – If renting: expect rents and cost-ofliving pressures (energy, housing supply) to remain a major concern.
