JOLLEY realproducersmag.com

A CAREER WITH ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME Ashley Jolley truly realized the importance of the word “home” when she and her husband, Dan, bought their first house. Through her homebuying and selling involvement, she discovered that home was the center point for some of life’s biggest events. This experience had such an impact on her that she used it as fuel to become a top-producing real estate agent. “It’s such an incredible feeling to love where you live,” she said. “Too often, that feeling is unobtainable or too stressful to try and achieve; therefore, I made it my mission to help my clients find a place where they can find all the comforts in the world in a space where a lifetime of memories can be created.” Growing up, Ashley was surrounded by real estate. Her dad was an agent and her mom worked at a title company. “I vowed I would never work in the industry because I wanted to do something completely different than my parents,” she recalled. She earned a degree in psychology from Oakland University and a master’s degree in forensic psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University in Manchester, England. From there, Ashley worked at the Macomb County Circuit Court as a juvenile probation officer. After her son was born in 2017, Ashley wanted the ability to be more present in his life and decided to take a real estate course while on maternity leave. In 2020, Ashley joined the team at CENTURY 21 Curran & Oberski and has since earned the Masters Emerald award, President’s Club award, Quality Service Pinnacle Award and a Top Producing Agent award in the Northville office.

Ashley’s focus and approach to life shifted when her father passed away in 2014, and again in 2017, when she became a mother for the first time. “Those life events changed how I think about important moments and being present,” she shared. “My perspective became clearer, and because of it, I became more authentic in my work and to myself.”

IT’S CRITICAL TO BE COGNIZANT OF THE WAY YOU MAKE SOMEONE FEEL.

After years of establishing herself in the Grosse Pointe area, Ashley and her family moved to Northville — an hour away from her previous business and market — in 2020. Her fresh start on the west side during a pandemic was definitely challenging, but thanks to her marketing strategy, her past client referrals and her sphere of influence, Ashley quickly got on track and nearly tripled her sales within the year. Her passion to find all the comforts of home for her clients, regardless of size, location or budget has set her on a fast track to success. “In 2020, the world realized how important our surroundings are and the place we live, work and teach,” Ashley said. “I have kept that mentality at the forefront in every transaction. Every living space should feel welcoming and inviting — a place to come home to or stay at.”

According to Ashley, the most rewarding aspect of her work is being able to help families. “Real estate is truly a people business, and being able to service my clients in a way that they feel respected, heard and understood has always been a guiding light for me. If I lose sight of that, I lose sight of why I got started in this career in the first place,” she explained.

Ashley said her biggest challenge has been avoiding the trap of imposter syndrome. “There are so many incredible professionals in our area that, at times, I used to feel a little intimidated,” she confessed. “But once I shifted my mindset and started seeing other agents as inspiration, my work began to flourish and my confidence blossomed.” A homebody at heart, Ashley appreciates finding refuge in her home. She is inspired by interior design and loves to see how people create unique, customized spaces. As a past collegiate lacrosse player, Ashley is very athletic and recently completed her first half marathon. When she and her husband aren’t chasing after their two children — Jude, 4, and Juliet, 2 — they enjoy time together on the golf course, chasing after golf balls. As a family, they also take vacations and weekend outings. Ashley advises other up-and-coming agents to try and add value wherever possible and to be consistent in your work. “It’s critical to be cognizant of the way you make someone feel,” Ashley said. “Be authentic, and find your strengths. If social media isn’t for you, then don’t try and force it. Rather, find a few good ways to lead generate like joining clubs and networking events — just be consistent with those efforts, and over time, it will pay off.” For four years, Ashley has been going the extra mile and consistently showing up for people when they needed it. “Being available for people is not a business tactic; it’s simply the right thing to do,” she said. “If I can be a better person tomorrow than I was today, then I will have succeeded in every aspect of my life.”

HIGHLANDS RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE Finding A Home In Togetherness

Highlands Residential Mortgage - Brighton (HRM) built its core value around a vision where operational excellence and strategic planning were must-haves as it assembled a group of highly skilled loan officers — each of whom had an average of 20 years’ worth of knowledge. As a result, a world-class experience was created for both borrowers and real estate agents.

The company’s motto, “Your Future, Your Family, Our Focus,” not only appeals to their borrowers, but it also applies to the real estate agents they partner with as well. “Not surviving but thriving in this industry is longterm thinking that is applied to each of our longterm relationships,” Branch Manager and Senior Loan Officer Danielle Boote said. “Our mission to value people, clients and the real estate agents drives everything we do. Our stateof-the-art technology and efficient process create a smooth and seamless transaction for all parties involved.” For loan status updates, the team at HRM has built an infrastructure that supports key practices, ensuring that the best communication is provided to clients and real estate agents in real-time. “We are advanced in our information technology, which benefits our clients in every transaction,” Danielle explained. “It is our mission to be the most respected mortgage brand locally. Therefore, to accomplish this, we have created a culture that supports our team members, so they can deliver unmatched service and products to our customers and industry partners, while fulfilling the American dream of homeownership.” Just as there are scores of options in home choices — varying in style, size and location — so, too, are the options in home loans. “Loans shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all offering,” Danielle said. “Hence, it is our job to listen to our customers and guide them through the best possible loan options available based on their individual needs.” 18 • March 2022

We are here to offer great solutions and products to meet our clients’ needs.” Danielle and her team of professionals are unshakable in their knowledge to handle any type of transaction. “We rely on our collective experience to deliver premier service in every transaction,” she said. “We are consistently updating and adapting to new technologies that are best suited for our industry professionals and clients.”

The Highlands loan officers strive to accommodate their customer’s busy schedules, as well as various options to meet their communication needs. “The Highlands team is always available seven days a week, nights and weekends,” Danielle said. “Our loan officers are ready to complete a loan application in-person, over Zoom, on the phone or online.” “Our company continuously takes the leading edge in residential lending through our strong communication skills, strategic thinking, support and compassion,” Danielle shared. “Additionally, we are a local lender supporting local businesses while keeping our staff’s best interest at heart. We are proud to support and invest in the goals of our staff, clients and professional partners.” For more information about Highlands Residential Mortgage, call 810-637-4188 or visit highlandsmortgage/michigan.com.

FINDING VALUE IN HIMSELF, IN HIS WORK AND IN OTHERS

@realproducers

PDF Studio - PDF Editor for Mac, Windows, Linux. For Evaluation. https://www.qoppa.com/pdfstudio At an early age, Daryl Wizinsky learned that his path in life would not be an easy one. However, his experiences taught him resilience and self-reliance and gave him an appreciation for education and mentorship as well as a relentless drive to believe in himself and find success. Daryl came from a divorced family and watched his mother do whatever it took to get things done. Her perseverance and hard work influenced Daryl to do the same for himself. After high school, Daryl’s life changed when he became a father, which altered how he viewed his existence. “Becoming a father truly shaped my life,” he recalled. “When my daughter arrived, she didn’t come with instructions or rules. All I knew was that I couldn’t fail.” Soon after, Daryl joined the military, which, from a discipline perspective, was the hardest thing he had ever endured. “Some things just can’t be unseen or undone,” he said. A valuable lesson he learned was the importance of education, teamwork and being coachable. “Education is key to me,” he said.

realproducersmag.com

“No matter what your circumstances are, you have to have the ability to go out and find answers because the truth becomes knowledge, and that is the gateway to becoming anything you want in life.”

others how to become the best sales and finance managers. This led to Daryl’s passion for helping others achieve their professional goals and dreams through consulting. Ultimately, it brought him to the world of real estate.

Another instance that had an impact on Daryl’s impression of leadership and teamwork was when he was in the Marine Corps Junior ROTC in high school. He longed to find acceptance as an adolescent, and despite his inability to march or drill, he was welcomed to the group by Sergeant Major Sims and Colonel Sam Pfeiffer. “They both made it possible for me to go on every trip and competition,” Daryl said. “Most importantly, they included me and made me feel like I belonged to something. They saw the value of a team and how it takes more than one person to be successful. For this, they will always be a part of how I develop my own teams.”

In 2008 — the year of short sales and foreclosures — Daryl decided real estate might be a good fit for him. He got his real estate license and hit the ground running. With no training or industry knowledge, Daryl sold 75 houses his first year. As his career quickly advanced, he aligned himself with the right people. “Things began to accelerate when I started working for Jeff Glover,” Daryl explained. “The production was amazing, the training he offered was inspiring and I took it all in every day.” He quickly became the top agent in the company and achieved a sales volume of $16.8 million in sold homes. “I found the tools I needed to set out and build my own business, and I was inspired to also coach others and help them grow,” he added.

After years in various sales roles, Daryl found his niche in leading and teaching

Wayne County Real Producers • 23

PDF Studio - PDF Editor for Mac, Windows, Linux. For Evaluation. https://www.qoppa.com/pdfstudio In 2016, Daryl became a broker and established Elegant Homes Realty powered by eXp Realty. “Through struggle comes growth,” he said. “I wanted to take my experiences and turn them into positive outcomes for others. To me, success is living life by my own set of rules. The wins are only further validated when I get to help others around me win, too.”

Currently, Daryl is most passionate about growth and education, specifically with technology. “In our industry, it’s easy to get left behind if you don’t keep up with software advancements and media updates,” he shared. “Our brokerage has a diverse group of agents, and not everyone is tech savvy, so education is key because if you aren’t growing, you are dying.”

Daryl oversees 30 team members with offices in Orange County, Chicago, Boston and soon, Dallas.

Given his status and expertise, Daryl advised real estate agents who are considering becoming brokers to have a solid standard operating procedure. “As cliché as it may sound, without a plan, you truly have nothing other than chaos, and will most likely be reactive rather than proactive in daily operations,” he stated. “We always follow the procedures, no matter what. People’s hearts get in the way, and people make mistakes that could impact others down the line in the transaction; therefore, it’s imperative that everyone understands that they are building a business, and it must be treated as one. And finally, the most important lesson is to not recruit to

The office culture is approachable, engaging, humble and hardworking. The key to the group’s success is being coachable and accountable, with each team member holding one another to higher standards. “This is something that flourishes internally on our team,” Daryl said. “No one is too good to grab a vacuum or sweep the floors, and that mentality and respect for the group carries over into our results, our productivity, client satisfaction and the overall positive vibe in our offices.”

fill seats or to become profitable. Recruit to change lives — agents and clients. As soon as you take the reward of money out of the equation, everything else comes together.” Daryl is clearly someone who speaks his mind, stands up for the little guy, does what is right and doesn’t adhere to the norm. Over the years he has kept his core values in check and became a better version of himself because of it. “You aren’t going to please everyone in life,” he said. “However, if you’re coachable and willing to work, and find the right people who see value in you and are willing to push you to become better, then anything is possible.”

I love Michigan. This is my hometown, and I would not trade it for any other state. My kids were born and raised here, and this is where I would like to build my legacy. I do a lot of work in Wayne County, but I’m expanding to Oakland County. I advertise on social media in both counties, and for the future, I would like to build a team and expand throughout Michigan.

DEANNA COLEMAN & CAT FERNANDEZ A Re a l E s t a t e D u o T h a t B e g a n a t H o m e Although Deanna Coleman and Cat Fernandez have been real estate business partners for two years, the reality is, their partnership has been 30 years in the making. The mother/daughter team joined forces when Deanna’s real estate career was skyrocketing. She wanted to continue growing her business while creating a strong, relevant social media presence, and her daughter Cat was the perfect complement to her already successful career. At the time, Cat was in search of a new profession after years of working as a general manager for various companies. She was eager to find a career that would support her keen understanding of social media and brand marketing as well as offer a flexible schedule. With the right timing and limitless opportunities for success, The Coleman Team was formed under the Real Estate One brokerage. The mother/daughter duo created their own unique style and approach to real estate by using Deanna’s connections and expertise and mixing it with Cat’s fresh take on the industry. The partnership was built

on common core values: customer service, ongoing education and training, forward thinking, and relationship building. As a team, Deanna and Cat share a strong work ethic and feed off of each other’s thought processes. “Honestly, it surprised me how well we worked together and had fit into a certain grove with each other,” Deanna said. “While I’m more old-fashioned and keep handwritten calendars and schedules, Cat is much more tech-savvy and creative — it’s a perfect combination that adds value to our business.” For years, Deanna has been a standout in her field. She is the current 2022 Southeastern Border Association of REALTORS® (SEBAR) president and past 2020 and 2021 SEBAR MLS president. In 2021 and 2019, Deanna received the SEBAR Humanitarian award, and in 2015 and 2016, she earned the SEBAR Chairman of the Year award. She also received the 2020 Real Estate One Diamond Award, 2019 President’s Circle Award, 2018 Real Estate One President’s Council of Excellence Diamond Award, 2017 and 2013 Real Estate One Gold Award, and 2016 and 2015 Real Estate One President’s Council of Excellence Award. In 2020, Cat was honored with the Real Estate One Diamond Award.

For Evaluation. https://www.qoppa.com/pdfstudio “Our accessibility and dedication make us stand out above the rest,” Cat shared. “In addition to that, our combined skill sets make our transactions smooth, and our clients always take notice of that.” Deanna added, “Our clients get two real estate agents working for them, which assures them our full attention.” The biggest challenge for Deanna and Cat has been learning to work off of each other’s strengths. “We both have strong personalities and are dominant in our roles,” Deanna explained. “The past two years have tested our relationship as partners and as mother and daughter. However, the growth that we have experienced from those challenges has led us to a successful business relationship, and more importantly, helped flourish our personal relationship, which has been the greatest reward.” The talented twosome work in tandem to give their clients 100% of their desired outcome. With their goal to be a one-stop-shop experience, Deanna and Cat work closely with photographers, stagers and contractors as well as with title, mortgage and insurance companies to help give their clients a seamless experience. “We align ourselves with like-minded professionals who work just as hard as we do,” Cat said. “Otherwise, they just simply are not a part of our team.”

“We are a small family but very close,” Deanna said. Deanna’s husband, Terry, along with their son Cameron and Deanna’s father, Bennie, enjoy dinners together and camping. Deanna is also very close to her niece Sarah and loves to share time with her children playing games or cards. Cat and her husband, Nick, have been together since high school and just recently welcomed their first child, Theodore, on April 7, 2021. As first-time parents, they launched a podcast titled, “The Stay With You Podcast” as a virtual journal for their son. “It’s available on all streaming platforms if anyone wants to check it out,” Cat said proudly. Currently, the team is most passionate about continuing education. “2020 brought a lot of new challenges, and thus, a lot of new learning opportunities,” Deanna said. “We take great pride in being an educated and resourceful team that can both inform and support our clients throughout their entire experience. Most importantly, we are passionate about being more than a salesperson: We are real estate agents for life.”

Beyond their real estate work, Deanna and Cat support more than 20 different community charities. They are both active members of the Community Outreach Committee for SEBAR and also work closely with the Real Estate One Charitable Foundation. Furthermore, they are involved in missionary work with Katrina’s Mission, a program that focuses on abolishing sex trafficking in the city of Detroit and restoring hope to survivors through the church. Outside of their real estate work, Deanna and Cat continue to spend time together with their families. 32 • March 2022

Mick

Khzouz TAKING CENTER STAGE IN THE REAL ESTATE MARKET

Mick Khzouz is a rock star in every sense of the word. He has a proven track record of reliability and success, and consistently exceeds others’ expectations to perform at the highest level. As an accomplished solo, Christian musician and recording artist, Mick is no stranger to hard work when it comes to being a top-producing real estate agent.

“I’ve always loved having friends and getting to know people, but this business took that to another level.” While Mick was growing up, his father played a powerful role in his life. “My dad was also a musician and loved music so much that he had to work several jobs to support his passion and take care of our large family,” Mick

said. “He was always supportive and encouraging to me, and when we used to watch boxing together, he would tell me, ‘it’s one against one, no teammate to save you,’ and that has stuck with me my entire life.” Mick’s father may have inspired him in many ways, but it was his mother who influenced him to

Mick’s road to real estate stardom first began 14 years ago as a part-time agent. During that time, Mick juggled music tours and album production with his real estate efforts, as well as managing a few other side businesses. “I became an appraiser in 2006 and a real estate agent in 2007,” Mick recalled. “I was part-time until December of 2017, and I realized touring was putting too much of a strain on my family life — my love for my family is far greater than my love for the big stage.” His decision to focus on real estate and establish himself as an associate broker at Michigan Rockstar Realty with Clients First, REALTORS® led Mick to become one of the top-producing agents in his brokerage where he has generated a career volume of over $33 million. “I wanted to feel a sense of purpose in what I did,” he explained. 36 • March 2022

To help make that happen, Mick’s wife, Nicole Diatto, is by his side as she assists with photography and video production, media marketing and web design. “Nicole is a great sounding board and the voice of reason when I get overwhelmed,” he said. “She’s the mother of my kids and basically my superhero in everything she does.” Mick and Nicole have three children — Ava and fraternal twin boys, Christian and Xavier. “As a family, we laugh a lot, argue at extremely loud volumes, eat lots of ice cream and truly enjoy eating meals together,” Mick said proudly. They also have two cats, Chase and Crush. In addition to spending time with his family, Mick continues to work on his music with his latest album, “The Resurrection,” which is available everywhere. realproducersmag.com

Balancing his work and family life has been the most challenging aspect of Mick’s job. “When the phone rings or I get an email, I know there’s a person on the other end who has their entire life dependent on how I react, so I have to be in the right headspace to give them my fullest attention,” he said.

MY FAITH IN GOD HAS ALLOWED ME TO SEE PEOPLE IN A MORE LOVING, CARING WAY. IT’S FOREVER CHANGED HOW I DEAL WITH CLIENTS, PARTNERS AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL, ACTUALLY; IT’S THE KEY TO ABSOLUTE SUCCESS.

With a solid balance of work and personal time, Mick shared a story that highlights the reason he devotes so much of himself to his business. “A while back, I worked with a single mother with two daughters. They were in a rough situation and were searching for the perfect home while on a very limited budget. Throughout the process, one of the daughters would continuously look up to me but never really said a word. As a parent, I knew that look. Ultimately, we found the perfect home, and as we stood in the parking lot after the closing, the little girl gave me the biggest smile. As I drove home, wiping away tears of course, I realized the impact my work has on other people’s lives, and that reward is fuel to continue my efforts.” Over the years, Mick has found happiness in helping so many families find comfort in a safe place to call home. “I’ve seen more joy in the smallest purchases than relief in the biggest sale,” he said. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of my clients and hearing the jingling of the keys to their new home is music to my ears.” 38 • March 2022
