The month of July is peak season for travelers around the world. Traditionally, this is a popular month to celebrate, relax and reward ourselves. However, our long-awaited summer vacation could possibly be impacted by recent travel restrictions. Most likely, our trips will be local, outdoors and maybe even subject to cancellation. Therefore, it is time to adjust our mindsets, get creative and plan a fabulous staycation.
With the right mentality, a fun adventure awaits us all. Creativity will be our best travel agent and destinations will most likely be places that can be reached within a day’s drive. Ideas include family camping trips, backyard barbecues, local pool parties and front yard bonfires. Be a hometown tourist and plan a day trip, which includes buying a few souvenirs for added fun. Get the kids involved and choose a theme. For a controlled, 6 • July 2020
smaller gathering, consider renting a large movie screen and have your own film festival complete with a popcorn machine, and bring your own lawn chairs and games. Michigan is full of wonderful parks for hiking, fishing, picnicking and playing sports. Saying yes to things you normally would not do can offer a genuine break from work and life pressures. Enjoying a staycation can provide high-quality resting time right in your own backyard while empowering your kids and seeing your hometown as a visitor. This July, be spontaneous and visit a far-away place, at home. Summer vacations can still happen in ways we never imagined, and sometimes that is greater than traditional plans. Check out our monthly feature, “We Ask, You Answer,” where each month we ask a question and you get to

JEFF GLOVER
During Jeff’s first few years in the business, he remained at his job at Art Van and attended Oakland Community College until he encountered a career-altering opportunity to transition into a leadership role. “My greatest professional influences are Kathy and Paul Schweitzer, the former owners of what is now Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel,” Jeff said. “They took a chance on me and trusted me with one of their offices when I was just 20 years old.”
A TRUE LEADER AND LUMINARY
top producer By Jane K. Asher, Ph.D.
After two years of being the top recruiter at that office and transforming a failing office into a thriving one, Jeff was promoted to the director of training and recruiting for the firm’s 17 offices and 600+ agents. In 2008, Jeff decided to leave his management position and return to full-time real estate sales, and that is when he established what is now known today as Jeff Glover & Associates. Then, in 2009, Jeff moved his team to Keller Williams and opened a mega-agent office.
As a REALTOR® and leader of Michigan’s #1 residential real estate team, Jeff Glover is undoubtedly a “housesold” name. Thousands of clients — and probably the majority of Michigan’s 40,000+ agents — recognize Jeff as the driving force and friendly face behind Jeff Glover & Associates and they know, much like his tagline promises, “Jeff Sells.” Consequently, Jeff’s professional accolades and sphere of influence proliferate beyond his team and his sales: Jeff sells, but Jeff also cultivates leaders in the field and gives back to the Metro Detroit community that he proudly calls home. Jeff spent his first 10 years growing up in Livonia before moving to Belleville to live with his mother and attend middle school following his parents’ divorce. He then decided to move in with his father and attend high school in Novi, and it was during his teenage years that Jeff experienced the difficult life lessons that inspired his drive and shaped his work ethic. “When I moved from Belleville to Novi for 14 • July 2020

high school, I didn’t have all the things that everyone else had; in fact, I lived with my dad in a trailer park that was surrounded by a community full of half-a-million-dollar homes,” Jeff said. “I was picked on, embarrassed and motivated to go figure out how I could provide for myself and have all the things that everyone else had.” Jeff’s ambition to transcend his socio-economic circumstances led him to the retail industry where he began to make a name for himself in the world of sales by becoming the #2 salesperson for Circuit City in Michigan when he was 16. He continued to hone his business skills as a salesperson at Art Van Furniture, and his success “on the floor at Art Van” encouraged him to transition to real estate in 2003 — a year after graduating from Novi High School.
Jeff’s team, which now includes 50 talented associates across Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids, is founded on a deep-seated commitment to personal and professional growth. “We believe in this philosophy: If agents are learning, growing, making money and having fun, then there is never a reason to leave us,” Jeff said. “Our team is unique because we do something that most don’t: We teach people how to actually sell — meaning, we teach each agent how to become a salesperson. Then, once they’ve mastered that, we teach them how to lead.” To date, Jeff has achieved a personal career volume of over $200 million and sold over $1 billion as a team, $191 million of which his team generated in 2019. Moreover, his KW brokerages in Plymouth, St. Clair Shores, Birmingham, Grosse Pointe and soon-to-be Brighton sell over $200 million annually. In addition to being Detroit Home Magazine’s Metro Detroit’s Best REWayne County Real Producers • 15
business with him for 10 years. He is also grateful for the love and support of his parents Dale Glover and Kathy Bowling and his stepfather Chuck Bowling, who also works with Jeff.
The most rewarding aspect of my career is helping someone experience something that they never thought possible … period
Jeff, an avid talk radio and documentary film fan, describes himself as a nerd when it comes to music and movies, and he names “Think and Grow Rich” as his all-time favorite book. In the summer, Jeff loves boating and golfing — he lives on a golf course during the week and spends his weekends at his downtown condo near his boat at the Detroit Yacht Club — and in the winter, Jeff enjoys snowmobiling and Lions football. Despite the demands of his many roles and multiple business ventures, Jeff stays grounded at the production level by going on appointments and taking calls at the office. He connects with clients and with community members because he knows that contacts and face-to-face relationships are the foundation of the business. Jeff continues to sell homes because, after 17 years and thousands of closings, he still possesses an unceasing passion for the rudiments of real estate, as well as a responsibility to demonstrate his credibility and expertise as a salesman.
ALTOR® and #1 Team in Michigan for most homes sold from 2012-2018, Jeff has earned the titles of Crain’s Detroit Power Seller, Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces, Corp! magazine’s Most Valuable Entrepreneur, Crain’s Detroit 40 Under 40 and Crain’s Detroit Coolest Places to Work. Despite Jeff’s long list of professional achievements and success, he is most proud of Glover’s Heroes, the non-profit organization funded by Jeff Glover & Associates and dedicated to supporting Michigan veterans, teach16 • July 2020
ers, employed caregivers, firefighters, police officers and emergency medical technicians. “In 2017, during a period when police officers were under a lot of public scrutiny, one of our agents, Jay Harrison, suggested we do something for them; and Glover’s Heroes materialized from that conversation,” Jeff said. “These heroes don’t get the recognition they deserve, and we wanted to do something about it. In addition to every dollar staying in Michigan, every dollar also ends up making its way into a hero’s life in one way or another as 100% of the administrative costs are covered by me.”
In 2018, Jeff founded Live Unreal Companies, the parent company of the #1 KW office Franchisee in Metro Detroit for most homes sold. In addition to housing Jeff Glover & Associates, its nonprofit organization and a number of KW brokerages, Live Unreal Company is more than a real estate conglomerate: It also comprises a variety of successful real estate related organizations, innovative technology tools and products, including Glover U, Jeff’s real estate training and coaching business. Jeff says that, given the current state of @realproducers
“I want to be remembered for making a difference in the lives of millions,” Jeff said. “I realize this may be hard to do given there are only a million or so real estate agents, so don’t be surprised if you see me running for office someday.” affairs, his “absolute passion” is developing people. By leading real estate companies and a nation-wide training company, he is honored to fulfill that purpose on a daily basis. “The most rewarding aspect of my career is helping someone experience something that they never thought possible … period,” Jeff said. “Our mission is ‘Living an Unreal Experience to Deliver One,’ so helping agents live their lives in an unreal way is a daily focus for us. By ‘unreal,’ we mean something so realproducersmag.com
amazing it’s almost unbelievable. That is what it’s all about to us — not just the income, or the houses, boats, watches or the cars — that all means nothing once you’re gone. At the end of the day, are you living in an unreal way?” Jeff’s “unreal” life extends beyond his business and into his relationships with his sister and one of his best friends, Kristy Glover, who has been in
Jeff’s prominence as a true leader and luminary in the industry is rooted in his humble beginnings and propagated by his entrepreneurial spirit. He has moved real estate into uncharted territory and shaped an amazing, almost unbelievable reality … we are definitely looking forward to watching Jeff’s next “unreal experience” unfold and evolve. ERIN FRITZ T
THE REWARD OF TAKING A RISK
he decision to get into real estate did not come easy to Erin Fritz. Despite having sales experience and an outgoing personality, she had a hard time seeing herself in real estate. Even at the constant urging of her friend, Chantell Monette — who is a real estate broker — she still could not be convinced that real estate was the direction for her. “I would tell my friend she was crazy and find excuses about needing a stable paycheck ... I had gotten into a habit of falling on a job that was comfortable yet very unfulfilling,” Erin recalled. “Making the transition into real estate was the scariest thing I ever did; however, becoming a real estate agent was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
into real estate and become a full-time agent. “Once I became a full-time agent, I was able to double the amount of business I did in my first three years combined,” Erin said. With a career volume of more than $8.6 million, Erin ended last year with total sales of $4.8 million. “Once I put my mind and my heart into the business, it all came together.” She has since earned sales volume awards and rising agent awards from her broker.
After nearly 20 years in her corporate job, the idea of transitioning her career was a scary one. Unsure of the reward versus risk, Erin remained at a comfortable pace rather than take a chance at something bigger. However, when she began waking up not feeling like herself — like something needed to change — Erin knew it was time to take a leap of faith. “It was becoming clear to me that I was ready,” she said. “I believe we are all the creators of our own lives, and I was ready to create something new.”
One thing Erin wants new agents to know is to give it their all. “Being an up-and-comer is an awesome experience, but it’s also scary — real estate can be a slow build,” Erin said. “You have to be willing to go out and look for your own business opportunities and build off of those successes.” Additionally, Erin emphasized how important it is to network. “It’s crucial to connect with potential clients in whatever way you can,” she said. “The independent woman that I am is a direct result of the household I grew up in, and I am so grateful for it,” Erin shared. She grew up in a predominantly female family where gender roles
Initially, Erin leaned into the real estate industry by approaching the business on a part-time basis. After her first three years — building up her knowledge and business — she decided she would immerse herself 20 • July 2020

never played a part in her upbringing. As a result, she developed the skills needed to become a fierce, independent, compassionate and sometimes competitive woman in real estate. Erin’s grandmother has been the biggest influence in her life. While her grandmother passed away when she was 17 years old, she remains her silent mentor. “She always insisted girls could do and be anything they wanted,” Erin said. “She completely molded me into the person I am today.” Her grandmother had four daughters, and those daughters had 11 kids — all girls except for one boy. “Growing up we all played sports, cut the grass, could throw a punch and do the dishes,” Erin explained. Erin feels her family dynamic gave her the skills to manage the different personalities and expectations that
come along with every transaction. She finds that people value honesty above all — regardless of whether they are client or colleague. “Respect and honesty will help you navigate even the most challenging deals,” Erin explained. A career in real estate allowed Erin to gain financial independence that she did not have working at a large company. She also shared how her career as a REALTOR® gave her the opportunity to give back to her parents who so generously supported and helped her and her son over the years. A defining moment for Erin was the birth of her son. “Having my son is one of the greatest accomplishments of my life,” she proudly said. “Being able to raise him and support us both is what I am most proud of.”

Make YOUR Business Better
Currently, Erin is with Clients First REALTORS®. Her main objective is to keep her business growing by setting goals for herself — both transactional and monetary. While she says she is a competitive person, she feels her biggest competition is always herself. She often competes with the other top earners in her office, which sets an ambitious benchmark for herself.
Finding solutions for your financial needs.
At Clients First, Erin was lucky enough to find a mentor in fellow agent, Karen Williams. “When I started my career, Karen was kind enough to answer my calls and questions any time I needed her.” Erin recalled. While Erin doesn’t necessarily work on a team, she has an incredible team atmosphere where they often rely on each other if they’re in a pinch or in need of advice.

Erin also enjoys helping new agents through their first deals and serving as a mentor. She offered advice saying, “Don’t be afraid to open your mouth and tell people what you do. As agents, we are our own best source of marketing, which is a critical connection for potential clients.”

Erin explained how real estate can sometimes be like riding a roller coaster. “I’ve seen deals fall apart and then come back together weeks later,” Erin said. “Anything can happen in this business, but as long as you remain positive and honest, you won’t be disappointed.” Additionally, Erin loves showing homes and the excitement that comes with helping a first-time homebuyer. “Whether it’s finding a dream home or simply securing a better price than expected, having a solid relationship with my clients is so fulfilling,” Erin shared. “I find that when my clients are happy, I’m happy.” Moreover, Erin is steadfast in her advocacy to her clients and serves as a reliable sounding board throughout any transaction. She knows that buying or selling a home can be an overwhelming proposition but takes pride in making the transaction as smooth as possible.

Erin believes that personal experiences connect her with clients the most. “It’s always a little sad at the end of the process because I know we won’t be able to spend as much time together,” she remarked. “But it’s an awesome feeling to know I’ve been a part of an incredible journey and made a friend for a lifetime along the way.”

BRAD ZIEMER W I N D O W S T I L L LOOKING THROUGH THE LENS OF A SALE
partner spotlight By Robbyn Moore Photos by Jessica Laine Photography
By listening closely to the increasing needs of real estate agents, the company has grown by 400 percent each year. Their services include interior/exterior photos and videos, aerial photos and videos, 3D images, floor plans and other unique photography that’s tailor-made to each client. “We know we’ve done our job when the seller loves our photography so much, they don’t want to move,” Brad laughed. “It’s very rewarding to capture a home in a way that pleases our client and ultimately sells a house.” Along with Brad, his wife, Bernadette, helps run the company. Together, they approach their business — and capture images — in unique ways that get attention. Brad said, “We use all the appropriate platforms and pay attention to the details and preferences of our clients. We are a client-driven business — providing an experience that is exclusive from the next – which is why we are known for our excellent customer service.”
It’s been said a picture is worth a thousand words, however, for Brad Ziemer, owner of WindowStill Photography, a picture is worth over $1 billion in real estate sales — an amount that reflects Brad’s contribution to the many homes he has helped sell since inception of his company five years ago. 28 • July 2020

Brad shared a time when he took a job to help generate interest for a house that was on the market for 90 days. “The agent came to us because the house needed to be shown in a way that would attract a buyer,” he explained. “We came in, listened to the agent and the home seller, and captured the home in a refreshing way to generate interest.” In less than a week the house was sold. Brad added, “Furthermore, the agent ended up getting both sides of the deal after the buyer liked how the house was marketed and photographed. It was a win for everyone involved.”
Brad went to school for photography, however, prior to starting his business, he was a full-time pilot and aviation instructor. At the time, most of his trips were to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, exposing Brad to new areas of real estate. “I was noticing lots of real estate properties, and it started to pique my interest,” Brad said. “I’ve always had an affection for taking pictures of buildings and large structures, so with my interest in real estate and knowledge of photography, I created a business plan.” Immediately, Brad’s business began to take flight. Today, he has 28 photographers working for him and plans to have a team of photographers in every state within the next two years. “What sets us apart is our ability to deliver results, not just photos,” Brad said. “We have the capability to create something from nothing and the potential to impact everyone.” Since the start of the business, Brad and Bernadette have been a dynamic team working together. They enjoy time with their 2-and-a half-year-old daughter, Myra, and outdoor family adventures. Brad continues to get his aviation “fix” a couple times a month by flying for the University of Michigan hospital.

HEALTHY HABITS
Working Home FOR
FROM
home matters By Shauna Osborne
Dressing for work from home has real psychological benefits in boundary-setting, impacting both how you view your company culture and yourself professionally. Plus, you’ll be gorgeous for all those Skype and Zoom calls! Set your work hours (and stick to them!).
Start and end your day at specific times, and be strict with yourself about it. It’s tempting to let work and home lives bleed into each other since it’s all happening in one place; setting solid boundaries is crucial for work-life balance and mental health! Take breaks.
Simply put, get up and leave your workspace regularly to stretch your legs, clear your mind, and rest your eyes. Set goals, and establish routines.
Start each day and each week with your goals and to-dos in mind; write them down if that’s useful. And, some may cringe at the word “routine,” but mini-routines for your workday from home can be useful in maintaining structure and flow. Predictability can be comforting, too! Bonus tip: Stock your kitchen with healthy snacks, and drink lots
of water! The “quarantine 15” is no joke!
BROKERS ARE BETTER! If you are seeing rates ABOVE 3.5% on a 30 year, or ABOVE 2.875% on a 15 year, SOMETHING IS WRONG! We will give you an accurate, no obligation quote on the spot! No Credit Check Required! No Obligation!
Check out what some of our clients have to say... My first experience with a lender was a complete nightmare. Griffen and his team were the exact opposite. Friendly, professional and answered any questions that I had. Can’t recommend them enough. — Jeff Griffen and Shannon Davis made our home buying the most seamless experience we’ve ever had in the past 3 home sales we’ve been through.... Thank you Berkshire Capital for an excellent job well done. — Erica
As tempting as it is to work from your comfy couch and/or in front of the television, resist! To set the tone for your workday, you should physically change locations. Set up a designated, distraction-free work area, preferably with a door you can close in case your “coworkers” get noisy. If possible, invest in a quality office chair or one of the newer, ergonomically healthy choices, such as a standing desk or yoga ball chair (my personal favorite!).
In the same vein, get yourself in a productive mindset by starting your day much like you would if you were going into the office. Wake up early, take a shower, make some coffee, and get out of those sweats. They don’t call it “dress for success” for nothing!

As someone who has (successfully!) been working fully remotely since 2010, I’d like to welcome you to the telecommuting workforce! Like it or not, many of us have been relegated to our homes to perform our jobs (or some version of them) during these months of sheltering in place. As you’ve no doubt discovered, there’s much more to working remotely than simply setting up a home office and popping into the occasional Zoom meeting. And, as we slowly begin to re-emerge into society, we will likely find that telecommuting has become a more permanent part of our work lives. This change has been coming for a long time. Establishing a handful of key habits for working from home will allow you to work smartly and effectively, making the most of this “new normal” in our professional lives:

Metro Detroit Community Comes Together to Feed and Fuel the Frontline
Amid the coronavirus crisis, best friends Kristen Henson — a real estate agent at RE/MAX Classic — and Aimee Morr — the owner of Aimee Morr Photography — reached out to a friend who is an emergency room physician and asked what they could do to help.
at various levels and medical facilities who put their lives at risk, so they can save lives of people like you and me or those we care about,” Kristen said. “We felt it was important to give back, especially in a time when these warriors are working extended hours on an emotional battlefield.”
“She replied by telling us that meals would never be turned down, so we ran with that on a much larger scale,” Kristen said.
On March 30, Kristen and Aimee co-founded Feed Our Heroes - Metro Detroit with a goal of raising $1,000 through the organization’s Facebook page. What ensued from there totally exceeded their expectations: Within the first four days, they raised over $10,000, and by the end of April, Kristen and Aimee had raised $28,372 and

Through Feed Our Heroes, Kristen and Aimee have witnessed how small acts of kindness — meals packaged in containers with handwritten messages of appreciation — make a big impact on people’s daily lives. During deliveries, they experienced an outpouring of gratitude from hospital workers and
As a result of the community’s generosity and support, Kristen and Aimee, along with the help of volunteers Kristen Little, Hallie Dunham and Kristen’s husband Jeff Henson, delivered over 3,000 meals throughout the month of April, reaching almost every major hospital in the Metro Detroit and surrounding areas, as well as some police departments @realproducers

On a daily basis, Kristen and Aimee receive messages, emails and texts from hospital staff thanking them for delivering the single meal that fueled their full day of work. “Many days, hospital workers were too busy to get out and pick up a carryout or to actually sit down and break for a meal,” Kristen said. “The kindness and generosity of the community have given these frontline warriors a much-needed moment of comfort.” Kristen, who is passionate about whatever she puts her mind to and is typically “up for a good challenge,” realizes that every situation — even those with the bleakest

Michigan’s Stay-at-Home order and the restrictions that it imposed may have rendered her work as a real estate agent non-essential, but it opened the doors for Aimee and her to drive a foundation, connect with thousands of people and make an essential difference in the lives of Michigan medical workers. are the main ingredients to the recipe of a top producer.”
Associate Broker with RE/MAX Leading Edge and Dearborn Area Board of REALTORS® President Hassan Ahmad said, “No matter what life throws at you, it is imperative that you are resilient when faced with negativity and use gratitude as your motivational force to push through anything.” His words of wisdom make him a great team player, a philanthropist in his community and a leader in the real estate industry.
When Hassan entered the real estate business more than 17 years ago, he wanted to combine his two greatest strengths — excellent people skills and a strong entrepreneurial drive. While he has a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s in business administration, it was his desire for face-to-face interaction that motivated him to become a REALTOR® and later a broker.
“In the world of real estate, you can’t expect business to come to you by default,” Hassan said. “Hard work, dedication, gratitude and giving back

(DABOR), Hassan is a gubernatorial appointee for the state of Michigan and mayoral appointee for the city of Dearborn Heights. In 2019, he was named DABOR’s REALTOR® of the year and nominated as Michigan REALTOR® of the year. His achievements do not end there: Hassan is also in the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and a member of the RE/MAX 100% Club. Additionally, as a REALTOR®, Hassan has a career volume over $100 million. Hassan is a source of inspiration for other agents and co-workers, and while his accolades and success are well-deserved, Hassan finds his greatest satisfaction from helping his @realproducers
clients and other people within the community. “Serving the public has been one of my passions throughout my life,” he explained. “I am always excited to assist others in finding their dream home, and I feel blessed to have a life where I can give back through my work in nonprofit organizations.” Hassan came to the United States from Lebanon at a young age. He was influenced by his father, who built a career from the ground up while staying actively involved in his family and community. “Growing up, I watched my father dedicate himself to our family while also starting his own business — he showed me the importance of having a strong work ethic, good morals and a drive to rise above life’s challenges,” Hassan said.
realproducersmag.com
In 2016, Hassan felt there needed to be a change at the leadership level in his local area. He decided he could help make a difference in his community by serving on the area board of REALTORS®. “When I first joined the board, I felt my 17-plus years of experience, communication skills and team-work mentality could improve engagement between members and our board of REALTORS®,” Hassan said. “Stronger relationships are the foundation of success and relationships are built with interactions — I hope to build on that foundation.” He also recognized the need for more involvement on the community, state and national level, and therefore began pursuing various leadership positions to make a difference. “I believe a leader is defined by their ability to lift up
everyone around them,” he explained. “I have been fortunate to have the opportunities to serve as a good role model throughout my professional career.” In addition to his current role as DABOR president, Hassan’s leadership and community involvement include several additional positions: Governor Snyder appointee to the Michigan Board of Real Estate Brokers, Mayoral appointee to the city of Dearborn Heights Tax Appeal Board, Founder and board advisor of YoPro REALTORS® of Metro Detroit, member of Michigan REALTORS® Leadership Academy and nomination to the National Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy for 2021. Philanthropy is a major pillar in Hassan’s faith, giving a portion of his income to the needy and less fortunate. The nonprofit organizations he leads and support include RE/MAX ambassador to the Children’s Miracle Network, executive board member and Treasurer of Leaders Advancing and Helping Communities, and vice president of Mashagara Club USA. Hassan often finds himself getting emotionally invested in his clients — treating each as if it was his personal investment. “I am really passionate about what I do,” he said. “I have learned to take that passion and help my clients achieve success.” Over the years, Hassan has learned to balance the daily routines and demands of his business, leadership work and spending time with his family — ensuring family is the priority. His wife, Sheiraz, is a nurse practitioner and together they have three children — Mohamad Ali, 8; Zayn, 6; and Rayanne, 1. “I enjoy talking to my children and learning from their pure, untainted perspective of the world,” Hassan shared. As a family they love to travel, watch movies and cook. “Real estate is definitely part of my future,” Hassan said. “It has opened so many doors for me, and I continue to use this profession to increase my opportunities to give back to my community — whether it is my time or resources, I hope to continue on this career path and help others.” Hassan shared his goal in life is to build a legacy of positivity that can be reflected amongst all. He concluded, “My advice to others is to maintain good relationships. It’s also key to have a strong foundation and culture with an organization to be successful in real estate — and in life.” 40 • July 2020
