The vast collection known as the Ellesmere Manuscripts contains a wealth of historical material which has only of recent years been broached to any extent, and still has much treasure to yield. The present set of documents, though comprising only a fraction of the collection, is a good sampling of the new or comparatively unknown material it has to offer.
