Lumbsden, a Scotchman, affiliated as think to the Flemish Province, over 60 years of age , who for 35 years during which he had frequent experience of prison-chains has laboured (though now secretly ) in London . 3rd Fr. Lector Lawrence Fottrell , an Irishman , to whom have granted missionary faculties for 2 years while he exercises the office of Chaplain to the Emperor's Ambassador. He is 45 years of age. These particulars Your Paternity (if you judge it fit) can communicate in my name or rather in your own to the Sacred Congregation; & these will provide the exact answers required , as hope. aught else is required (for example that the missionaries do not dare to carry with them nor even preserve their Faculty-Licences) , the Very Rev. & Learned Master Fr. Grymes an eye-witness & experienced missionary , will explain to your Paternity. Meanwhile with wishes for the new year beginning & for years as long as Nestor's, Louvain, 2 Jan : 1698. May this year, & the subsequent, be crown'd with as many Blesseings, with as much successe herein as yr own most pious , Royall Heart can desire. In order to this happy end comes my other Obligation of sending this great St who after a solemne & devout invocation of the holy Ghost was drawn in this Convent for yr Maties year's Patronesse. May yee long inioy the happy Effects of her powerfull Patronage.
