DISTRICT NEWS

TCPUD at Your Service North Lake Tahoe Active Recreation Facility Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study During Phase I of the Active Recreation Needs Assessment in 2020, feedback from the community expressed a resounding appreciation for the active recreation activities and programs currently offered in the North Lake Tahoe area. In addition, community member input was encouraging and revealed a strong desire for comprehensive planning of future active recreation facilities, including amenities like an indoor gym and field facility, covered outdoor fields, a recreation center and pool, and bike and skate parks. In summer 2021, the TCPUD and North Tahoe PUD selected a highly experienced consultant team to launch Phase II. The consultant team, led and assembled by Design Workshop, is represented by experts in the areas of architectural design, sports facilities specialists, financial analysis and planning. Phase II will be guided by an approach that integrates practical and visionary planning to assess existing programming and infrastructure and prepare a concept plan that includes cost estimation for new and improved facilities. Community engagement and feedback will continue to be a critical part of this process that will shape the future of active recreation in the North Tahoe region. Your participation in this exciting project is encouraged, and public workshops/surveys will be scheduled in 2022. Visit www.northlaketahoeactiverecreation.org for more information.

Water Conservation Every Drop Counts. Use Water Wisely The TCPUD is committed to Making Water Conservation a Regular Way of Life and have responded to California’s severe drought conditions and the increasing demands on TCPUD’s water supply. Effective May 1, 2022, TCPUD is in Stage 2 – Moderate Water Storage, which applies to all TCPUD water service areas and requires water conservation measures. Water conservation measures in Stage 2 are outlined in Ordinance 304 – Water Conservation and Drought Response Standards. TCPUD’s water conservation requirements include: Designated Odd/Even Irrigation Days – Three Days per Week, no Saturdays Prohibited watering of hard surfaces such as driveway, sidewalks, and parking lots Recirculated water for ornamental or decorative water features only Repairing water leaks Preventing water runoff Using automatic shutoff values and nozzles Installing low flow plumbing fixtures in new and retrofit construction Water conservation measures are an environmentally sound way to protect and conserve our water resources and ensure the continued supply and reliability of drinking water. In addition, maintaining water supplies are critical to safeguard sufficient capacity for fire-fighting efforts. Join the TCPUD’s commitment to Making Water Conservation a Regular Way of Life! Visit www.tcpud.org/conservation for more information on TCPUD water conservation measures.

DISTRICT NEWS

West Shore Water Storage Augmentation Project Robust planning is underway to address water storage and distribution deficiencies along Lake Tahoe’s west shore. The geographic separation of the public and private water systems on the west shore coupled with inadequate storage capacity, creates a situation where the ability to move water efficiently through and between the water systems is substantially deficient. This Project will improve storage and distribution to ensure the water systems have sufficient capacity to meet customer demands, current fire flow requirements, and to share water resources during an emergency situation. The District has retained Carollo Engineers, Inc. to prepare a Preliminary Design Report (PDR) that evaluates storage tank size and site selection, and water distribution pipe sizing and alignments to accomplish a fully connected system serving the project area between Timberland and Tahoma. The PDR is expected to be completed by summer 2022. The District will continue to finalize design and permitting through 2024 with construction anticipated to begin in 2025.

TCPUD Secures Significant Grant Funding for Important Projects The District’s commitment to fiscal responsibility includes actively monitoring and pursuing supplemental funding opportunities that offset the District’s use of utility rate revenue and property tax revenue to complete important capital projects. Recent economic stimulus packages approved by state and federal legislators have provided a considerable boost in grant funding administered through county, state, and federal programs. These programs support a variety of projects that address Covid-19 relief, drought mitigation, climate resilience, and investments in critical infrastructure. The District is proud to announce measurable success in securing almost $7.4 million in 2021/22 grant funds. This includes: Project
