Fall Highlights: Scholarships Season and “The Best Medicine” on October 3 Supporting Project TCMS
Ondria C. Gleason, M.D.
Welcome fall! If you’re like me you’re looking forward to cooler weather and the fall foliage to come! To kick things off, in September, the scholarship committee met to review 52 applications from students at the OU School of Community Medicine and Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine The competition was stiff, but the committee worked to select nine individuals to receive scholarships from the TCMS Foundation It was inspiring to read the applications and to learn about the leadership and service active activities in which our future doctors are engaged. Their personal statements generated a feeling of hope for the future of medicine. Please stay tuned for more information to come regarding our winter scholarship banquet
To continue to support the foundation’s activities, I hope to see many of you at our TCMS Foundation fundraising event this Friday evening, October 3, at the TU Lorton Performing Arts Center Our staff has done an amazing job of planning for this event which you are sure to enjoy. It will be a great opportunity to spend time to network and connect with other TCMS members. Tickets can be purchased here:

Welcoming New OU and OSU Medical Students
Tulsa County Medical Society and Oklahoma State Medical Association
The Tulsa County Medical Society and Oklahoma State Medical Association proudly welcomed first-year medical students at the OU-TU School of Community Medicine and the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine during July and August As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting future physicians, TCMS provided lunches during the students’ first weeks on campus, an opportunity to offer encouragement and begin building connections with the next generation of healthcare leaders
These gatherings allowed TCMS and OSMA leadership, student members of the SRC, and staff to meet incoming students, share insights about the local medical community, and highlight the resources and advocacy offered through membership and involvement in organized medicine

It was a meaningful way to connect with students during a formative time and to demonstrate the importance of physician-led support throughout medical training
We’re excited to follow these students on their journey through medical school, residency, and into clinical practice TCMS and OSMA remain dedicated to cultivating a strong and engaged medical community, and we look forward to providing continued opportunities for networking and collaboration as these future physicians advance in their education and careers.
