Welcome to our GAPS Dunstable Centre This leaflet contains information about our Safeguarding procedures and our expectations of anyone visiting our Centre.

If you are unclear about anything, please speak to a member of staff either in the Centre or using the contact details provided in this leaflet.

Visitor Procedures All visitors must sign in at the reception Visitor lanyards must be worn at all times and be visible whilst visiting the Centre Visitors should remain with their designated member of staff at all times All visitors must sign out at the reception when they leave

Photography, Video and File Sharing Visitors are strictly prohibited from taking any form of image or video whilst on site. If staff suspect that an image or video has been taken, we will ask that this be deleted and you will be asked to leave the Centre. We may refer this matter to the Police if necessary.

We ask that our visitors check their Bluetooth and file sharing (such as Airdrop) privacy settings and that they do not share any files with learners.

Safeguarding is Everyone's Responsibility Safeguarding is defined as any action taken to promote people’s welfare or protect them from harm.

TCHC Group takes its safeguarding responsibilities very seriously and we want to ensure that all people using our centres and services are kept safe from all forms of harm.

We believe it is everyone’s responsibility to: Respect each other’s right to feel safe Treat others fairly and with respect Not to threaten, hurt or abuse others

What to do if you have concerns If you have any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of one of our learners, you must report this immediately to a member of the TCHC Safeguarding Team.

We have a Safeguarding Champion member of staff who is based in the Centre or you can contact our Safeguarding Manager.

If you have any concerns relating to the conduct of a TCHC Member of staff or volunteer in the Centre, you must report these to our Quality Director directly. Further information can be found in our Whistleblowing policy.

Disclosure of abuse by a learner Whilst this can be an alarming situation, it is important that you know what to do in such an eventuality and for you to remain calm and controlled.

Listen to what is being said without displaying shock or disbelief.

Allow the learner to talk freely.

Reassure the learner that they have done the right thing by telling you, but do not make promises that might not be possible to keep Do NOT promise confidentiality.

Do NOT interrogate or ask leading questions.

Speak to a member of the Safeguarding Team without delay. They will support with guidance and next steps.

Respect for learner confidentiality is paramount and a disclosure should not be discussed with anyone other than a member of the Safeguarding Team.
