Spring Sports

Welcome to Tabor College Athletics!

Thank you for coming out to support our Tabor College Bluejays! We warmly welcome you to our campus and hope you have a wonderful experience here. As we cheer on our teams, may our attitudes and behaviors be filled with love, hope, joy, and peace, reflecting our decidedly Christian intent. I pray that our players, coaches, staff and fans will model excellence and character as we strive to do our best as unto the Lord.

Have fun, come often, and be safe!

Welcome to another year of Tabor College Athletics! We are excited that you have chosen to come out and support our studentathletes. The role you play as a supporter of Tabor College Athletics can not be overstated. We want your gameday experience to be outstanding, so please let one of our administrators know if we can improve that in any way.

The experience our studentathletes have at Tabor is important and you are a huge part of that. Athletics, coupled with the learning in the classroom, being a member of one of the many groups on campus, dorm life, etc, are just a few of the factors that contribute to the shaping of the individual that Christ calls our student-athletes to be. Let’s set a good example as we cheer loud for our team and not against the opponent. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17

INTEGRITY Know and do what is right.

RESPECT Treating others the way you want to be treated.

RESPONSIBILITY Embrace opportunities to contribute.

SPORTSMANSHIP Bring your best to all competition. SERVANT LEADERSHIP Serve the common good.

The vision of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character program is to change the culture of sport. Its mission is to provide training to instill the values that build character so students, coaches and parents know, do and value the right thing on and off the field.

Research shows that the longer a student spends in sports, their social reasoning – sacrificing for the good of the team – rises.

The Champions of Character program helps participants find the balance by keeping five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – at the heart of the athletics experience. Students learn to understand how the values play out in both practice and competition. Coaches are taught how to intentionally define, model, shape and reinforce the values through their coaching and mentoring. Parents learn how their behavior is key to supporting their athletes.

For more than a decade, Champions of Character has been making a difference in developing athletes, coaches and parents of character.

Tabor College is committed to partnering with the NAIA to advancing character-driven athletics.

MARK STANDIFORD Head Coach

Mark Standiford enters his 15th season as coach of the Bluejays. Standiford led the Bluejays to the NAIA World Series in 2014 and 2015. Tabor has taken home five KCAC regular-season titles and been in postseason play seven years under Standiford.

In the past 14 seasons, Tabor has gone 538-235-1 (.695) and Standiford’s teams have broken school records in wins, runs, hits, batting average, RBIs, doubles, triples, home runs, base on balls, fielding percentage and strikeouts.

Under his leadership, 119 players have received All-KCAC awards and 13 have been named to the NAIA All-America teams, including 2016 NAIA Player of the Year Manny DeLeon. Standiford has also sent 14 players to play professionally, including World Series champion Jacob Webb (Atlanta Braves, 2021).

A standout player at Wichita State University, Standiford still holds the career home run record (69) for the Shockers. He also set the single-season home run record (28) during his senior campaign. Called “the most prolific power hitter in Shocker baseball history”, Standiford has since been inducted into the Wichita State Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame, the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, and the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.

Standiford is married to his wife Renee. The couple have one son, Blake and a daughter, Taylor. The Standifords have one grandson, Jett Sterling Jones, who arrived just this January.

Before coming to Tabor, Davis helped Peru State record its first ever conference championship. Davis also coached the Joplin Outlaws in the MINK League and the Okotoks Dawgs in the WMBL League.

Davis was an All-Region pitcher during his two-year career at Hesston College before transferring to Pittsburg State University. He finished his career with the Gorillas where he earned his B.S. in Physical Education in 2006 and his M.S. in 2007.

Davis lives in Hillsboro with his wife of 11 years Kristen. They have one son, Drew, and their twin daughters Cora and Violet.

The Bluejay Backers are committed to helping the Tabor College Athletic Department meet these challenges by providing a foundation of success that can be relied upon for decades to come.

The purpose of the Bluejay Backers is to support the our athletic department in its mission to create an environment for student-athletes that supports learning, promotes excellence and stimulates Christian growth. It is our vision that this focus on the student-athlete’s collegiate experience will result in an ever-expanding sphere of Christian influence.

Your contribution to the Bluejay Backers is an investment in the tradition of excellence that is Tabor College Athletics. The Bluejay Backers are dedicated to the continued development and enhancement of Tabor’s athletic programs. Your membership demonstrates your commitment to partnering with us to provide our studentathletes with the best that intercollegiate athletics has to offer. COACHING STAFF GOLF

MIKE JAMIESON Head Coach

Mike Jamieson is in his fourth season as head coach for the Bluejays, rebooting both the men’s and women’s programs. Jamieson’s collegiate coaching experience started in Perrysburg, Ohio at Owens Community College, working as an assistant men’s coach. During his time at Owens, the team made the national tournament and finished ninth. Jamieson was then named head women’s coach (2015-17) at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. In 2017, the women’s golf team had a top 25 recruiting class in the nation and one freshman took top five in the conference tournament.

Coach Jamieson earned a master’s in Psychology of Sports and Performance to grow as a collegiate golf coach. He also earned a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certificate, which allows him to custom screen athletes, and build workout programs to help student athletes perform at the highest level.

Jamieson began his golf playing career while attending Highlands Ranch High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo. He was a part of a top-five class 5A state team. After high school he attended Colorado State of Pueblo where he walked on and made the top five of the traveling team. He then attended Tabor, winning multiple tournaments and over a dozen top-five finishes. During his three years at Tabor, Jamieson was named to the All-KCAC team three straight years. During his junior and senior year, the golf team qualified for regionals. He placed in the top 10 during the 2005 season. After college, Jamieson decided he wanted to pursue golf as a profession, playing in Monday qualifiers as an amateur and working for Troon Golf in Scottsdale, Ariz. Jamieson was also a business owner for a Golf Etc. franchise where he taught lessons and custom built clubs for all player types.

Jamieson is married to his wife Briana, who is from Garden City, Kan. They have two kids, Kailee, 14, and Cameron, 11.

DAVID HARSIN Assistant Coach

David Harsin is in his third season as an assistant for the men’s team. He earned his B.S. in Secondary Education from Emporia State University. Harsin joined the Bluejays because he always wanted to be a golf coach and coaching at Tabor allows him to coach the sport he loves while helping students prepare for life after college, leaning on Jesus to navigate through life.

He is married to his wife of 40 years, Jeannie and has one adult son, Matthew.

CHRIS ENS Assistant Coach

Chris Ens enters her third season as an assistant for the Bluejays’ women’s team. Coach brings over 30 years of experience as an avid golfer to the team. Ens is married to her husband, Gordon, and her son, Michael, is the head coach at Tabor College.
