Dear Bluejay, Welcome to the Tabor family! There has never been a better time to be a Bluejay at Tabor College. The staff in Student Life are committed to the mission and core values of this institution. Fall Athlete Welcome Week Orientation Orientation for parents has become one of the more popular and appreciated fall events on the Tabor College campus. This is your opportunity to visit campus and see where your son or daughter will spend the year. Several events, with a focus on parents, will be provided to inform parents about various aspects of Tabor College.

What happens during New Student Orientation Weekend? Freshmen: During the weekend, you will get to know your O-Group, do a service project, attend orientation sessions, confirm classes, and complete financial settlement. But most of all, it will be a fun time! This weekend is full of activities to engage learning, promote service to others, encourage involvement, and assist the transition to college.

Office of Student Success Academic Mentoring Available for students who find themselves in need of additional support to work on time management, study skills, sorting through the transition to college life, and more.

Tutoring Center Available for students in the lower level of the Lohrenz. Tutoring is a free service available for all Tabor Students and is provided through peer tutors. Registration for tutoring is required. Additional times and information are located in the Student Success Office. Questions can be sent to studentsuccess@tabor.edu.

Disability Services If you are a student who has a disability or situation that requires academic accommodations, you can contact Student Success directly and provide necessary documentation of disability. Student Success will work with you to identify needed accommodations.

Career Service Events Teacher Interview Day

Tabor partners with 6 other KCAC schools to host Teacher Interview Day. Over 40 school districts from all over Kansas attend and interview students for their open teaching positions.

On-Campus Job Fair This event provides students an opportunity to network and learn about the available part-time positions available on campus.

Career Fair Tabor partners with six other KCAC schools to host a Career Fair. The fair offers fulltime employment, internship, networking, and continuing education opportunities.

Majors Fair Upperclassmen students from various departments/majors speak to the Freshmen class about their unique experiences in their major. Freshmen then have the opportunity to meet with different professors to hear about the specific major and they declare their major(s) and minor(s) and this time.

Employment, Internship Opportunities & Graduate School Preparation Tabor assists students in resume and cover letter creation and assistance navigator the application process for employment, internships and graduate school preparation. 6

First Year Experience First Year Experience Advisor Tabor's First Year Experience Advisor is here to help ensure Freshmen students can have a smooth and supported transition into college. The transition to college can be overwhelming and potentially even challenging in some areas. The good news is that you are not alone! Not only do you have the support of your new peers and professors, but you also have the First Year Experience Advisor to walk alongside you as well. Here are a few tips and tricks from the FYE Advisor to help you transition and be successful in your time here at Tabor College!

Get to know your professors and allow them to get to know you better too.

Find a way that works best for you to stay organized...a planner, phone calendar, to do list. As long as it works for you, that's all that matters!

4. Support your peers in their extracurricular activities. Nearly all of our students are involved in something on campus whether it is athletics, fine arts, Student Senate, and so much more. Get out there and cheer them on in the things your friends are passionate about on campus! Student Success can help with this. 5. Ask any and all questions. 6.

Get out and explore your new town and the surrounding areas. There are several hidden gems in Hillsboro, Marion, Newton, and McPherson.

Students of the 2021-22 academic year, Welcome to all new incoming jays, and welcome back to all returning Jays. I am excited to see everyone again and meet new people for this coming fall as we start our new school year! To all incoming freshmen, I encourage 2 things to make the most of your time at Tabor. Number 1, get involved! There are many opportunities that can help form new, long-lasting relationships with your peers just by getting involved with clubs and events around campus. Number 2, spiritual growth! Whether you are coming to Tabor as a devout Christian, Christian but questioning your faith, or have never even opened a bible before, Tabor has many opportunities to help you learn and worship Christ. And if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask me through my Tabor email or find me around campus! I am excited to make 2021-22 a memorable year with you all and cannot wait to witness the many athletic, academic, and even individuals achievements that the upcoming year will bring! Performing Arts Tabor has a strong tradition of choral, instrumental and theatre. In 2017 the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts was finished. This new space houses the Richert Auditorium, Prieb Harder Black Box Theatre, as well as numerous class rooms, studios and event space. Regularly, Tabor hosts concerts, theatre productions or other types of entertainment. Spiritual Life Spiritual Formation and Community Life is more than a program. It is a way of living! Our Spiritual Formation programs are designed to cultivate an environment for spiritual growth on our campus. The primary way we promote this is through regularly scheduled chapels each week. Spiritual Formation also oversees small groups and coordinates with departments for missions opportunities.

Chapel Tabor College holds chapel weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays where staff, faculty and students come together to worship, hear God’s Word and connect to one another.

Small Groups Bible studies, discipleship groups and student led ministries are also available at various times throughout the week and at various locations on campus. Small group ministries are a place where students can connect and grow as they learn how to follow God together.

Global Outreach During Interterm 2022, students will have the opportunity to travel to either France or Thailand to work alongside church planters to minister to those communities. There will also be a Social Work learning trip to Nepal, a Biology study trip to Guatemala, and two Israel trips (Choir & Bible Department).

God’s word tells us that “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1John 1:5).” We are called to walk in the light, just as Jesus did. We are called to live out our faith. We are called to live in the ways Jesus describes as the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven. We are to love our God with all of our heart. We are to love one another, even our enemies. We are to live in unity. We are to give to and serve the needy. We are called to seek justice. We are called to share the Good News with others. We are to live out the life Jesus lived, or rather, “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” The result of our obedience to “Shine” is that others would come to know and glorify God.

Parking Tabor provides free parking here on campus for student vehicles that have both registered and display a current Tabor parking decal. We ask that you park in non designated parking spaces only and not in handicapped (unless proper credentials are displayed), red fire lanes, yellow loading zones or spaces otherwise designated for a specific use. If your vehicle is parked in a location it should not be, there will be a citation issued and fines added to your student account and you will be notified by email. Vehicle registration is done during orientation week as well as throughout the academic year in Student Life. You will need to provide proof of current vehicle insurance, license plate number, color make and model of your vehicle when registering. If you change vehicles during the year it is the students responsibility to update all the registration information with Student Life.
