WELCOME TO TABOR! We are excited that you have chosen to become a Tabor Bluejay! Over the next four years, you will experience many defining moments, and the faculty and staff are eager to help you navigate this new stage of life with encouragement and support. Within this brochure, there are a variety of sessions that are geared to help you make the transition to Tabor College and the Hillsboro community. Our mission is to “prepare people for a life of learning, work, and service for Christ and His kingdom.” Our hope is that you take advantage of everything we have to offer on our campus; It will be a life transforming experience spiritually, academically and socially for you. God’s word tells us that “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1John 1:5).” We are called to walk in the light, just as Jesus did. We are called to live out our faith. We are called to live in the ways Jesus describes as the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven. We are to love our God with all of our heart. We are to love one another, even our enemies. We are to live in unity. We are to give to and serve the needy. We are called to seek justice. We are called to share the Good News with others. We are to live out the life Jesus lived, or rather, “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” The result of our obedience to “Shine” is that others would come to know and glorify God.

The core values that influence the mission and vision of Tabor College include a commitment to being Christ-centered in all aspects of life, a passion for learning, the promotion of service to others, and meaningful involvement in college and community activities.
Christ-centered
Involvement
The primary value of Tabor College is its desire to be a Christ-centered school. All activities and programs flow out of this value and are evaluated in reference to it. The Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith provides the biblical and theological foundation for Tabor.
We believe that being engaged and involved increases learning. Participation, both in and outside of the formal classroom, is an effective way to prepare students for a life of work and service.
Community
Tabor values community. We desire our school to be a place where individuals feel like they belong, where there is a sense of mutual support and students hold each other accountable.
Learning
The purpose of Tabor is to promote learning. We recognize that learning occurs in informal settings, in the classroom and in organized field experiences. Our goal is to develop students who are broadly educated, competent and well-rounded, who embrace the joy of learning.
Service
Service is at the heart of Christ-centered education. We emphasize the value of caring for others in all that we do.
