A physical concentration of related subsectors such as Electronics, Precision Machining and Mechanical Assembly for Aerospace/Military has begun to create industry clusters with a growing lateral-based supply and support network. In addition, more recent entries such as Life Sciences gives further evidence of a shift toward economic resiliency and diversification. Against this backdrop is the LESMD education/training continuum with its increasing orientation toward private industry input in the development of a locally trained regional workforce.

Committee members are voting members of the Tri-County Council board, Lower Shore Area Chambers of Commerce, economic development and planning-related county, state and municipal agencies and departments, lower shore institutions of higher education and technical high schools.
Extend from Fruitland to Po comoke City along US Route 13 corridor Maryland portion of DelMar Energy Pathway Project. Phase I of construction would run from Fruitland in Wicomico to the junction of Route 13 and MD 413 in Somerset. Anchor customers are University of MD Eastern Shore and Eastern Correctional Institution. Additional customers are Princess Anne Industrial Park, Mountaire Farms and CleanBay Renewables LLC in Princess Anne/ Westover.
To diversify and capture the growing sports tourism indus try, a physical facility is needed. Wicomico County to develop “Connelly Mill Property” into a regional park. The 234 acre property sits adjacent to the county’s existing main hub for recreation activities and tourna ments—the Henry Parker Athletic Complex, as well as the City of Salisbury’s Naylor Mill Forest. Plans include providing new recreation amenities and connecting trail systems to existing Naylor Mill trail system/Parker Athletic Complex.
The project will be matched with $1.4 million in state and local funds and is expected to create 70 jobs, retain 150 jobs and generate $34.6 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

Wicomico County to develop property known as “Pirate’s Wharf”, located on Whitehaven Rd in Quantico, into a regional park. Will feature water access to the Wicomico River via single lane boat ramp and soft launch area for small boats, kayaks and canoes. Will include walking trails, pavilion, comfort station, observation deck, a fishing pier and opportunities for recreational leisure and environmental education programming. One walking trail will be a history trail featuring improved signage and displays
