TCBL 646133 –ANNEX I TO D6.8 31st March 2018

Consequently, there are specific websites or web services for each group.1 This guidebook is therefore structured to present the resources available for these different types of audience. We can summarize the main sections as follows: You are

Although TCBL offers this differentiation for the role-based communities, the strength of TCBL comes from the fact that they come together under the same umbrella and can be smoothly connected and used in a coherent experience. The resulting service integration is illustrated in the companion to this guide, TCBL in Action.2

1

In addition, the TCBL community of Associate Service Providers works with TCBL through the technical interfacing of service platforms. Their needs and the services available to them are treated separately in forthcoming Deliverable 1.3 The TCBL Open Platform. 2

Figure 6. The TCBL User Manager.

The first item, Sign up for TCBL, allows you to register with TCBL Single Sign On and from there access all the services in this Guidebook through the Login with TCBL function. Next is Manage your profile. The purpose of this section is to give you full control over your profile information and how it is managed by the other services describe in this Guidebook. By default, when you Login with TCBL only the minimum information is passed to the specific service. (This is why many services may ask for additional information when you register for the first time, even if you’ve used Login with TCBL.) Over time, this section will give you the option of passing on more detailed information to different services (for instance, your company name and address), as these options become available. For now, this section allows you to upload a profile photo and subscribe to the TCBL newsletter. In addition, you can view and accept the TCBL Privacy Policy. The other options in the User Manager allow you to reset your Password and view the different services you can directly access by the Login with TCBL function.

2. ARE YOU AN EXPLORER? If you’re reading about TCBL you’re mostly likely interested in innovations affecting the Textile & Clothing sector, ranging from research into new materials to social initiatives such as sewing cafés. Whatever your activity, the TCBL Business Labs allow you to explore the latest developments and see what can be relevant to you. Above all, if you’re interested in becoming a TCBL Business Lab (or if you already are one), you’ll be interested in seeing what’s going on across the network.

THE LABS PLATFORM Your entry point will probably be through the Labs menu item on the TCBL website, but this takes you to the Labs Platform at https://labs.tcbl.eu/. This is a dedicated website specifically designed for the innovation and collaboration needs of the Business Labs. If you’re already logged in with TCBL, you’ll only need to confirm the exchange of data to sign up to the Labs Platform. Following that, you can smoothly switch between the two.

3. ARE YOU A TEXTILE & CLOTHING BUSINESS? The main goal of TCBL is to have a radical impact on the T&C industry, and indeed the Associate Enterprises – T&C Businesses who have joined the network through the yearly Calls – are at the heart of the TCBL ecosystem. Everything mentioned in this guidebook will be relevant to the innovation needs of sector companies large and small, but we’d like to highlight three areas on the main TCBL website that should be of specific interest: Business Pilots, Business Services, and the Call for Associate Enterprises.

BUSINESS PILOTS This is one of the main menu headings on the TCBL website and describes the innovation pilots currently under way.

Figure 10. Business Pilot Projects Currently Underway.

Each pilot (or Business Case) also has a more detailed web page that includes: • • • •

Description and objectives What’s happened so far Next steps Contact info

BUSINESS SERVICES Business Services can be found under the Resources menu; this includes a range of commercial services that are offered by TCBL Associate Service Providers through the TCBL Open Platform. Each of these can be easily accessed with our Login with TCBL function.

13

Figure 11. The Business Services Page.

The three services listed – Thela (supply chain management), Sqetch (brand-producer matchmaking) and Wave (open innovation for startups) – cover some of the main needs expressed by TCBL Associate Enterprises, and they play an active role in TCBL as follows: • • •

Thela is used to manage the Call for Associate Enterprises (see below): https://thela.cleviria.it/. Sqetch is used to organise business-to-business encounters at our yearly conferences (#TCBL_Meet): https://sqetch.co/. WAVE is used to manage the TCBL Call for Startups: http://wave.consorzioarca.it/.

Following these services is a listing of the external Associate Service Providers who are actively collaborating with TCBL, either through participation in TCBL events or more directly in the Business Pilots. Most of them plan to integrate the Single Sign On function for Login with TCBL in the coming months.

CALL FOR ASSOCIATE E NTERPRISES The Call for Associate Enterprises is a yearly procedure to bring new T&C businesses into the TCBL innovation ecosystem, that as of September 2018 will become a rolling procedure open throughout the year. The rationale, criteria, and application procedure are described in the final item of the Business Pilots menu. The Call itself is managed through a self-assessment questionnaire on the Thela platform. You must first register with TCBL and login to the main website, in order to access the registration page. When you submit the registration form, you are provided a special access

Once completed, your assessment questionnaire is evaluated by a set of three TCBL Controllers, and if the scoring meets the required criteria, your company automatically qualifies to becomes a TCBL Associate Enterprise. New Associate Enterprises are announced yearly at the #TCBL event.

15

4. ARE YOU AN ADVISOR? Associate Advisors play an important role in the TCBL ecosystem, as they provide the human connection between the open-ended research agendas of the TCBL Labs and the specific needs of TCBL Enterprises and the T&C industry. In parallel with their consultancy role, they also feed the TCBL knowledge base with publications, guidebooks and articles, as well as materials produced from presentations and activities at the yearly #TCBL events. If you are a researcher, business consultant, teacher, or in any way contributing to knowledge about T&C innovation, you can gain the status of Associate Advisor through a point system which tracks your contribution to the innovation processes in TCBL and the production of material that can spread and share the knowledge gained.

_ZINE PLATFORM The main space for access to the knowledge generated within TCBL is the _zine platform, which acts our on-line “publishing house”.

Figure 13. The _zine platform home page

The _zine platform is managed by an Editorial Board who define, together with the community of Associate Advisors the main thematic areas for publication as well as coordinating the production of Special Issues. The first four menu items – Digital, Human, Circular, Transparent – bring up _zine articles through their thematic pertinence. Following that is a menu to access individual _zine Issues. The menu heading About _zine includes: • • • •

Why TCBL_Zine? Presents the _zine platform. Roles and activities describes who does what. Editorial Board gives information and profiles of the Editorial Board members. Knowledge Champions profiles the 15 most active among the Associate Advisors.

16

Associate Advisors gives the full listing of all 75 advisors. Become an Author describes the procedures for submitting an article. Special Issue Calls presents the invitations to contribute to Special Issues being edited.

The final menu item, About TCBL, takes you back to the home page of the main TCBL website.

TCBL ON SOCIAL MEDIA TCBL’s Associate Advisors are also constantly feeding our social media accounts. Updates from TCBL together with relevant links and articles from around the Web are regularly posted to the TCBL Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/projecttcbl. Like the page to add TCBL notifications to your Facebook feed. TCBL Guidebooks are published on the Issuu service for on-line publications at https://issuu.com/tcbl

Several “stacks” are available grouping publications by topic, and the most relevant and valuable publications are also embedded as articles on the _zine platform. TCBL videos, produced by Business Labs as well as by the yearly #TCBL conferences, are published to the TCBL channel on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZcpRQi7vjIxuq50a-8KOxA.

5. ARE YOU A STARTUP? As TCBL is building innovative business models and value chains, this generates new service requirements that can be met by the TCBL Startup programme. During the TCBL project, two Calls for Startups have been carried out to launch this procedure, but the TCBL ecosystem aims to continue generating new business concepts that can prove fertile ground for young entrepreneurs. To this end, TCBL partner ARCA has developed and adapted the WAVE platform for idea generation following the open innovation model for sharing and collectively developing business ideas.

Figure 16. The WAVE platform.

If you access WAVE through Login with TCBL, you can publish your open innovation ideas in three ways: •

• •

A challenge is a competition where you can offer a prize for presenting the best solution to a problem. For instance, a TCBL Associate Enterprises can publish a Challenge call with the task description and the kind of awards assigned. You can share a project outline and look for partners, investors, skills and contributions for its further development. In a brainstorming context you can discuss a topic or look for a solution to a specific problem, with help from the WAVE community.
