MIDDLE SCHOOL UPDATE 02/10/26 Dear Middle School Parents and Students Please find below some upcoming events and updates. I would also like to draw your attention to the Assessment Breakdown Document included with this update. This document has been designed to provide parents with greater clarity on how their child's grades are calculated by outlining the assessment components and weightings used in each subject The first report card will be published at the end of this half-term. I will be sending a detailed letter about the reporting cycle for this year next week. INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Our annual International Food Fair is fast approaching, and we are looking for a few parent volunteers to help run the British Food Stall. This event is always a fantastic celebration of the rich diversity within our school community and a wonderful opportunity for families to come together over food, culture, and conversation. If you are able to spare some time to help prepare, organise, or serve food at the British Food Stall, we would be delighted to hear from you. Whether you can assist for a short period or throughout the event, your support would be greatly appreciated and would help make the day a success for our students and families. Please contact ptachair.tbs@gmail.com if you would like to get involved. LOST PROPERTY COLLECTION Our Lost Property collection will be displayed in the Curiosity Cove from 7th–9th October. Over the course of the term, a number of jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, PE kit items, and other belongings have been left behind, and we would like to reunite these items with their owners. We encourage all students to take a few moments to check the collection during these dates and ask parents to remind their children to look out for any missing items. Any belongings that remain unclaimed after the collection period may be donated to charity. Thank you for your support in helping us reduce lost property and ensure items find their way back to their owners. HELLO YELLOW NON-UNIFORM DAY – FRIDAY 9TH OCTOBER Next Friday, 9th October, TBS will be taking part in Hello Yellow Day to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. Students and staff are invited to wear yellow to school and help us create a bright display of support across our community. You do not need to wear a full yellow outfit, although that would be wonderful! A yellow jumper, T-shirt, socks, hair accessory, or even a small splash of yellow is perfect.

Throughout the day, students will be encouraged to reflect on: Talking about how we feel and knowing that it is okay to ask for help. Being kind to ourselves and others. Supporting the people around us. Looking after our mental health and wellbeing. Recognising the small things we can do to make a positive difference. We are also planning a number of activities across the school to mark the occasion. Some of our Middle School students will be visiting Year 5 and Year 6 classes to deliver short PSHE sessions focused on mental health and wellbeing, while other students will be assisting with collecting donations at the school gates on Friday morning. Students are welcome to bring a small donation to support the cause, and we look forward to seeing our community come together to raise awareness of the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. EXCUSING STUDENT ABSENCES: TODDLE REMINDER As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline communication and attendance procedures, we would like to remind all Secondary parents that Toddle Excusals is now the sole method for reporting student absences and attendance-related matters. Please ensure that any future absences, late arrivals, or requests for excusal are submitted through Toddle. Other methods of communication for reporting absences have now been phased out. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain accurate attendance records and ensuring that attendance-related information reaches the appropriate staff promptly.
