The cherry blossom trees on the campus of Stony Brook University were in full bloom on May 1, resembling pink, puffy clouds of cotton candy. The trees were planted at the university to coincide with the annual Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival at the Charles B. Wang Center. The event, which usually takes place the first weekend in May, was canceled for the second year in a row.
