Huntington LIRR Pedestrian Bridge Is Closed A pedestrian bridge that connects parking garages and lots at the Huntington train station will remain closed until it is replaced by the Metropolitan Transit Authority LIRR. “Closure of the town’s access points to this bridge will remain in place until it is replaced,” Supervisor Chad Lupinacci (R) said in a statement. The Town of Huntington has been advised that the MTA LIRR is moving ahead with plans

to demolish and reconstruct the easternmost pedestrian bridge later this year, according to a town press release. The structure and the platforms beneath it are the property of the agency, which has installed high-impact netting under the bridge to protect pedestrians, the platforms and the tracks beneath it. The town’s Engineering Services Department has been in communication with the MTA and has recommended expediting the demolition
