Long Island commemorated Memorial Day over the three-day weekend with parades and ceremonies honoring the men and women in our nation’s military who gave their lives in the pursuit of freedom. At the Setauket and Stony Brook Memorial Day parades on Monday, in which Port Jefferson area residents took part, participants included veterans, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, bagpipers, marching bands and firefighters. The community was decked out in red, white and blue for the occasion. Pictured above, top and at right, scenes from the two parades. See more photos on page A9.
