A movement-based narrative short film, examining the periods of time in a person’s life that formed their identity. The film explores identity through the lens of a pop star, coming face to face with different versions of herself throughout her lifetime in order to heal. In simpler terms, it’s popstar ego death.
The film is meant to be viewed alongside a site-specific, live performance by tbd. dance collective in which the three act structure and choreography from the film are reimagined. Dancers move throughout and around audience members as they watch the film, breaking the barrier between the viewer and performer.

Nik Fackler is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning filmmaker, writer, and multidisciplinary artist. His debut feature film Lovely, Still (starring Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and earned him recognition as a bold new voice in independent cinema. His follow-up, the hallucinatory documentary Sick Birds Die Easy, combined vérité, scripted scenes, and psychedelic experimentation to chronicle a reckless search for truth in utopia in the African jungle — a fusion of fiction and reality that defied traditional documentary form. Beyond film, Fackler is a musician and creative collaborator, having worked with KANEKO and tbd. dance collective to create the experimental dance film series, Hidden Places. He is also co-founder of Match/ Cut Productions, where he develops and produces short form documentaries, branded content, social media campaigns, and national TV commercials for numerous commercial and nonprofit clients.
Florian Lochner trained at Ballettschule Malsam in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, where he was the recipient of the Birgit Keil Dance Foundation scholarship. Lochner earned his master’s degree in the performing arts and joined Gauthier Dance Company in Stuttgart in 2011. He received a “Best of the Season” nomination in Germany’s “Dance for You!” Magazine in September 2013. He joined Hubbard Street in August 2015, and in the Fall of 2017 was named a Hubbard Street Choreographic Fellow. In 2017 he created FLOCK with Alice Klock through which he continues to perform, teach, and create.
During her 50+ year career as a scholar/artist/educator, Professor Josie Metal-Corbin has been a pioneer in integrating site-specific dance at The Joslyn Art Museum, The Durham Museum, Omaha Public Library, Holland Center, Lauritzen Botanical Gardens, Glacier Creek Prairie Preserve, Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge and Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. She co-directed and directed UNO’s The Moving Company for 35 years. Josie has performed and given scholarly papers, workshops and presentations throughout the USA, in the United Kingdom, Canada, Jamaica, Portugal, France, Italy and China. As a proud board member of tbd., she is delighted to have co-choreographed a dance with Kyan Doubet with accompaniment by Lucy Duke.
Lucy Duke is a violinist with the Omaha Symphony, and previously with the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Iowa. She studied at Northwestern University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance. When not playing violin, Lucy enjoys fishing, gardening, and hanging out with her dog, Chunk.
