What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? The people are like family. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Coaching students! What are your future retirement plans? Move on to other interests.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I will always value the close friendships I made throughout the years and cherish the sense of family that continues to surround me. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Working with the students outside of the classroom are some of my most memorable moments, whether it was working on a fundraising initiative, student council, school assembly, GSA or a drama performance. I will always hold close to my heart the time spent each year with my Mental Health Champions raising awareness and reducing the stigma. What are your future retirement plans? In retirement I look forward to spending copious amounts of time with my grandchildren, Eva and Cameron (so far!) and somewhere in between I will travel, devour books, maybe go to the gym and possibly perfect cooking a turkey much to the delight of my children.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Implementing new and changing technology to assist staff and students in their daily life. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Making the board’s first ever Internet connection at Sacred Heart school in the mid-90s. What are your future retirement plans? Eating lots! And just to stop and smell the roses.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I enjoyed the spirit of collaboration and support that is evident both professionally and personally. There is a sense of community that is felt in each school and across the board. I felt valued and appreciated in my 30 years with the TBCDSB and have developed lifelong friendships and connections. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My most memorable event while working for the TBCDSB was being selected by the Ministry of Education for our project on Self-Regulation and being able to share our learning with over 100 students and educators across Ontario. What are your future retirement plans? I will still be connected with the education community in my new role as instructor/faculty advisor at Lakehead University, as well as continuing to offer workshops in local schools. I am looking forward to spending more time in Arizona and pursuing some new interests.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? My experience working with the Thunder Bay Catholic School Board has been very rewarding. My vocation has helped shape me into a person who embraces change. I’m very proud to have worked with a large number of colleagues who have supported and continue to support the well-being of a child’s learning (spiritually, emotionally, physically and cognitively). In addition, I’ve been rewarded with many memorable “team” moments that have cultivated deep learning and motivated student learning. THANK YOU! What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? I’m extremely proud of the Grade Four (Holy Family School) and the Grade Six students (St. Elizabeth School), parents, business volunteers and the overall school climate who embraced the in-class/after-school Profiteer$/ BizKids Marketing program. It was extremely rewarding because I was able to embrace the program and see how completely engaged and how proud each student was of his/her accomplishments. Seeing the joy on their faces, demonstrated to me what learning can be and should be about in a classroom setting. What are your future retirement plans? Ready to Roam, Embrace the Future, Time to Travel, Ignite Innovative Interests, Relax with Routines, Eager to Enjoy Entertainment, Make many more Memories, Embrace my Earned Energy, Nurture Nature, Take the Time to be Together.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB?
In reflection on my 34 year journey in education with the TBCDSB I can humbly say I have been blessed with a very fulfilling career. I have truly enjoyed, and am appreciative of the opportunities I was afforded in my work life as a teacher, VP, and Principal. The roles I was hired to perform with the Board, along with the support of the Board, encouraged and guided me to grow into a very passionate professional, serving in the best interest of students and Catholic education. The calling that I pursued and responded to over the course of my career has brought me great joy. I can’t thank the TBCDSB enough, as well as the many people I have worked with for their support, friendship, and collegiality, and for contributing to the successes I have enjoyed in my journey along the way.
What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB?
Over the course of a long career I have accumulated many memorable moments for joyful reference and reflection. For me, these moments seem to hinge on a few common denominators, all of which include the coming together of people in community, service, joy and kindness in order to make a difference for one, or many. In these graced moments there was a strong presence of faith, peace, and hope. On a more personal level, two memorable moments that I was honored with in my career while a Principal with TBCDSB, was being named one of the recipients of Canada’s Outstanding Principal Award (2016), and CPCO’s Distinguished Service Award (2020). Both of these awards were unexpected accomplishments for me in my career, and I will forever remain thankful, appreciative and humbled by the recognition.
What are your future retirement plans?
I currently have not formally solidified future plans for retirement, but I am looking forward to immediately taking time to rest and enjoy some long awaited freedom from having a set schedule and defined timelines. Beyond the immediate future I plan on accomplishing things that I currently never seem to have time for, such as reading non-educational material, finishing some already begun house renovations, traveling more and for extended periods of time at any time of the year, golfing more, visiting family and friends more frequently, and engaging in a regular fitness regime that is retirement friendly. Moving forward, I will remain committed to life-long learning, and be open to considering part-time opportunities that may present themselves in the world of work.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? The feeling of belonging to a family. My St. Elizabeth Family has been an important part of my life for the last 22 years. I felt closely connected to my amazing students and their families. The incredible staff act like a true family who always takes care of one another. I have formed beautiful, lifelong friendships that I will treasure forever. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? That amazing feeling when you walk down the hall and a former student greets you in a way that makes you feel like an actual Rock Star! What are your future retirement plans? My retirement plan is simply to PLAY! Play with my grandson, Clint. Play with creativity in my Art Studio. Play on the water with kayaking and my SUP. Play with greater distances on my bicycle. Play on some new hiking trails. Play in the snow with cross country skiing and snowshoeing. And, in the not too distant future, play in some new countries!
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Working with so many great people, many of whom I still remain friends with. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The over the top send-off I was given, I will never forget. What are your future retirement plans? Hopefully do some travelling before not too long.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Truly, one of the best parts about teaching is being able to learn all the time. One is not only a teacher of students but one learns from her students as well. And, I can honestly say that my students throughout the years have taught me many lessons and helped me become the teacher that I was. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The most memorable moments throughout my years of teaching are the very many light bulb moments. That moment when you actually see the student understand the lesson, the “OHH I get it now!” Those are the best! Also, starting a school year with someone who doesn’t like the subject and being able to help them reach a certain level of respect and love for the subject is very rewarding indeed. What are your future retirement plans? Retirement plan looks like; swimming, kayaking, hiking, camping, crafting, biking, jewelry making, nature loving, painting, creating, enjoying, playing, and of course working … Now the real work begins.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? What I liked most about working for the TBCDSB was the sense of belonging that I felt. I felt part of a big family connected by our shared purpose, achievements, and challenges. I need to shout out to my friends and colleagues from Sacred Heart/PJP who were so supportive, caring and fun! I am also grateful to have been able to have a career where my faith was an integral part. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? It is difficult to choose one memorable moment as there were many. When I look back, though, I always think of the laughter. The students made me laugh so often. I remember funny things they said, their antics, and the level of trust and comfort that allowed us to joke around and have fun while getting the job done. These moments were essential to easing the tougher days of the job. What are your future retirement plans? I am looking forward to having the freedom and flexibility to spend more time with family and to do some travelling when it is safe to do so again. In particular, I can’t wait to spend chunks of time away in warmer climates during winter.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I began my career in 1992 and want to share how privileged I have felt over this time to have had the opportunity to work both with and for such incredible people. My primary focus over the last 3 decades has been our students. Working within a school board that puts its focus and energy on them has been tremendously rewarding. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My most memorable moments were the celebrations. Watching the joy that these events bring to our school communities is truly inspiring. From the voices of our students at mass to the sheer excitement that holiday seasons bring to them has been the source of so much joy for me. I shall cherish it forever. What are your future retirement plans? I plan to spend more time with my family and friends, capturing sunsets near and far.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I like the good people I had to work with. They helped me when I needed it. I made a lot of friends over the time I was there. Some jobs that I have had before the TBCDSB, people did not help or associate much with new hires, they left you to work it out yourself. People always showed me how to do anything I needed to know. I liked that. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The day I left St. Vincent and took full time. Had mixed feelings about that. Turned out to be a good thing. What are your future retirement plans? Get through the COVID and then maybe travel a bit. I would like to see what is past Toronto. I have been to the west coast a few times, never got past Toronto the other way, Hope to get my boat out soon. Do some four wheeling and get back to a fire, beers and good friends.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I worked with the TBCDSB for 44 years and enjoyed every moment. I met many people throughout my career and truly cherish each one of them. Some were work friends, some became friends for life and some have become family. Whoever you are, you all made an impact on me and I have been blessed. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My most memorable moment was my last day of work when I had many come to share a special moment we had together over the years and to say goodbye to me with good wishes. What are your future retirement plans? I look forward to spending more time with my family and friends, gardening and traveling when things open again.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Working with the kids. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The Kids. What are your future retirement plans? Travelling and spending time at the cottage.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I loved my job and the youth that I was able to teach not only academic skills but life skills. The TBCDSB always supported our program’s effort to educate and rehabilitate marginalized youth usually from some horrendous situations. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? I had a very unique job. There are so many memorable moments. However, one was when I ran into a former student at the College. She began her GED preparation at Kelso, we transitioned her to the community to finish. She continued, wrote her GED, passed and then became a paramedic! She was so grateful for our support and belief in her. She is now a full time paramedic, mom and positively contributing member or society. What are your future retirement plans? I am so grateful for the opportunity to have such a rewarding and enriching career. I will continue to help marginalized youth by volunteering at the Underground Gym. I am continuing my work with Special Olympics. I also plan to travel extensively with my husband, golf, do yoga, camp, hike, and small projects. There is so much to do! Thanks!
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Interaction with the children and my paycheque lol. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Becoming a Head Custodian. What are your future retirement plans? Not sure yet enjoy the summer not having to leave the house at 6 a.m. at -40.

What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I enjoyed working with the amazing staff and families of the school community. We truly have the most fabulous, caring, and kind people working for the board. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There are so many wonderful memories of working with students, colleagues and the school community. The moments I will always cherish are when students realize that they can actually read a word or apply a concept successfully on their own! What are your future retirement plans? I plan to work casually, travel more, take up new hobbies and sports and enjoy my retirement!
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? The privilege of being able to be part of young lives that looked at the world in such a gentle and curious way. They really teach us many things. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My great event was being a steward of a grand Learning Commons where I carefully guided young minds navigating through research creating learning through discovery. I enjoyed leading great adventures into stories full of imagination imparting the love of story and where it can take you. What are your future retirement plans? Currently I’m writing my next chapter, not sure what the story arc will be or where it will go. Of course I know I will enjoy the journey. I will spend renewed energy with my family.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? The custodial staff were awesome, also the custodians, made a lot of friends, I loved the kids. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The Christmas luncheons we would have at St Pats, The luncheon that was put on in appreciation of the custodians. What are your future retirement plans? Eating lots! And just to stop and smell the roses.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? The best part was obviously working with great people and getting to meet new staff every year. Also watching the students grow. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There are many memorable moments over the years. Including my going away celebration which was totally unexpected, one memorable moment is not an event but a person. Mr. McGowan was a volunteer who left quite an impression on me of how much people care for the well-being of our students and community. What are your future retirement plans? My future plans are to enjoy time with family at camp and travel.

What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I will miss the wonderful students and staff that I had the pleasure to meet and see every day. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My most memorable memories while working for the Board are the days working at St Elizabeth with the 2 Community Living classrooms. Our days were filled with laughter and kindness. We did so many fun things as a group. Everything from Fun in the Sun parties to sleigh rides. You name it we did it with those fantastic students. We were truly a family. What are your future retirement plans? To slow down and enjoy my family and friends.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I truly enjoyed working at a variety of schools and meeting the wonderful students, parents and staff. I have many good memories I will carry with me the rest of my life. I also enjoyed my time working at the Board Office. I will cherish the many good friends I made over the years. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My most memorable moment working for the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board is when I was voted by Secretary of the Year at Saint Patrick’s High School. What are your future retirement plans? Spending more time with my family and our two granddaughters. If we have a little extra time of course I would love to travel to some warm destinations and to Europe.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I enjoyed the great staff at the Board. Everyone is supportive and works together as a great team. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There are too many to list, but working in the Math Department at St. Pats and all the practical joking and fun we had I think shows the Great people I have been blessed to work with throughout Thunder Bay Catholic. What are your future retirement plans? Golf! Golf! Golf! Travel and spend time with family. Faculty Advisor for Lakehead Teacher Candidates. Build our new house when wood prices come down a little!!
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I met a lot of interesting people. It’s a small board, so people actually get to know one another. The board has been very good to employees when personal or family issues arise that require some of their time and attention. The “family first” attitude is appreciated. It’s also neat to see where students’ adult paths have taken them and when I run into them. Many former students have now become professional colleagues. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? In 32 years, there are several memorable moments and it’s hard to pick just one. As much as there was a TON of work involved, doing years of fashion show productions at St. Ignatius was fun. What are your future retirement plans? I don’t have any. I’ll figure it out as I go along. There are many unfinished projects to do at home.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I loved the aspect of Catholicity in the schools and board wide - masses, prayer services, Faith Days. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Being part of a Kindergarten professional development workshop with my teaching partner (ECE) - sharing how we developed a successful and respectful working relationship. What are your future retirement plans? Opening a business: Kama Bay Horizons - Using Mindfulness & Creativity for Self-Expression & Healing Writing a book about my personal healing journey dealing with depression, anxiety and suicidal ideations.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Lasting friendships I made. The wonderful staff I worked with -14 Principals, 7 directors, and numerous staff members. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My last day, the students and staff in our classroom held a surprise retirement party. They presented me with a beautiful memory album, as well as a slide presentation. What are your future retirement plans? Travelling, family, and volunteering.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? There were so many things that I enjoyed about working for the TBCDSB, but the one thing that I appreciated the most was the feeling of belonging to a family community, including colleagues, students and their families. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? I had many memorable moments but the one that stands out the most was the surprise birthday party thrown for me by the first Grade 5 class at Holy Cross School! I’ve never been so surprised in all my life! What are your future retirement plans? This is the perfect time for retirement for me as we are becoming grandparents in October. Our daughter lives in Vancouver, therefore we are planning on spending time there. We are also looking forward to being snowbirds. Of course, spending more time with family and friends will be a priority.

What are your future retirement plans? To enjoy camp life, family, and friends and most of all the grandchildren.

What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I loved working with so many great staff and made some wonderful friends. I also loved all the things that the students taught me. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? I had so many memorable events that it is hard to pick just one. I think one of the most memorable types of events was when I was working with one student on a new technology program that really made a difference in their learning. What are your future retirement plans? Once I am retired my main focus will be on my two grandsons. My oldest is starting school in September and I plan on being there for all the events I can attend.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Certainly the students. As a Teacher-Librarian for most of my career I had the opportunity to see the students grow and mature over the years from Junior Kindergarten all the way through to Grade 6. I will always remember their joy and enthusiasm when I had a really good read-a-loud to share with them, as well as the feeling I would get when I found a sought after book for an eager student. I certainly can’t forget all the wonderfully talented people I’ve had the honour to work with over the years. It felt good to have so many friends who would help and support each other as we worked together to help our students achieve their full potential. On all the good days you were there to laugh and celebrate with me and on those rare bad ones you were always there too, even just to listen and as most of you know I like to talk! What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Over the course of a 30 year teaching career, 20 as a Teacher-Librarian with the TBCDSB, it’s difficult to choose a specific moment or event that stands out. One yearly event that the students and I always looked forward to and loved was our annual Scholastic Book Fair. The look in their eyes when they arrived with their class was priceless, it was like they were in this wonderful arcade full of books! It was very busy and exhausting at times but it flew by. After it was over I would usually have to reorder some items we ran out of at the fair. The students would be a little disappointed that they couldn’t get it right away but they were always patient and understanding. After a few days the order would finally arrive. When I brought that book to the student’s classroom the elated look not only on their face but their classmates was something I’ll never forget. What are your future retirement plans? Post pandemic my retirement plans are to get out of “Dodge” and see some of this big wide world. I have a lot of family and friends in Canada and elsewhere that I’ve owed a visit to for quite some time. I’m looking forward to keeping that promise! So I’ll definitely be looking for some adventure in the years ahead but at the same time stepping away from the hustle and bustle and taking the time to truly reflect and enjoy the moment. What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? The supportive and leadership team that I worked with through my years of service will always be remembered. I was given the opportunity for growth and development and gained valuable and rewarding experience. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There are so many memorable moments, I can’t pick just one. From watching the grade 9 students entering high school to their graduation in grade 12. The school community that was developed throughout the year will be so missed. There were many day to day challenges, but working with a team of great professionals of SSPs, teachers, custodians, and Principals. Oh and we can’t forget about that great kitchen staff and secretaries that make the school run. You are and will be missed. What are your future retirement plans? What to do now? I hope to travel a bit more after COVID-19 is under control. Possibly even focus on my painting and gardening and go cast a few more lines in the water because I love to fish. Whatever life throws my way, I’m sure I will enjoy retirement. It was great working with you all!
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I especially enjoyed the experience of sharing my love of learning and passion for teaching within the faith based community of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board. I value the many relationships I have developed with students, families, my dedicated colleagues, administrators and amazing support staff. They have taught me so much about work and life. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Most of my memorable moments have come about in discussions with Grade One students who offer sometimes wise anecdotes about life that are so literal and true. Sometimes their actions speak so loudly. This week a child in my class, went during her lunch break, and donated her money to the Shelter House in recognition of the virtues of compassion and charity. She just did it. This is a very humbling, memorable moment. What are your future retirement plans? I have two amazing children, who have families of their own. As my role as teacher ends, I have become a “Nanny”. I hope to spend many happy, precious moments with my four grandchildren, Charlotte, Cameron, Leo and Jude. As well, I plan to take more time to garden, go fishing, walk my dogs, travel, try quadding, be outdoors, and just enjoy every moment with my husband, my incredible family and friends.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Smiling at work every day. You can’t help but smile when you interact with children! The staff was also my second family so I was very fortunate to spend my days with them as well. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The wonderful week long send off from the students and staff at Holy Family School when I retired. It filled my heart and left me with memories I will cherish forever. What are your future retirement plans? Spend more time with my family and my adorable grandchildren, and never set my alarm clock again!

What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Being part of my students’ learning journey and seeing their eyes light up when they experienced success has been most rewarding. I will cherish the kind and caring school communities in which I worked over the years and the special friendships made with my colleagues. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? The most memorable event while working for the TBCDSB was being the recipient of the “Ontario School Library Association - Teacher Librarian of the Year Award” and bringing the Forest of Reading “Festival of Trees” locally to the CLE. This exciting literacy event enabled students to meet the authors of the various reading programs, purchase books, get autographs and attend workshops. What are your future retirement plans? I plan to spend more time with family and grandchildren and do the projects I never had time to do. When we are able, I plan to do some travelling as well.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I enjoyed working at schools all over the city, which meant I got to know and work with special people and students over the years. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? One of my favorite memories was attending all the school productions. Watching the talented students and staff that worked so hard and made them all successful and enjoyable. What are your future retirement plans? Future retirement plans are to visit and spend time with our grandchildren, and being able to travel after Covid19.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Sharing my teaching skills and knowledge with the students in a Catholic Christian environment. It was also great to work with so many talented teachers and administrators. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There are so many memorable moments, it is hard to choose one. But I think what is most memorable is when students have success in their learning. I remember one young child who had significant struggles at the beginning of the year, with a lot of work he blossomed into a confident and sociable little boy who loved coming to school. On Fridays he would ask if he would be coming to school the following day. I would have to tell him it was the weekend, but he will be back on Monday. What are your future retirement plans? Becoming a grandmother soon and some travel.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I loved working with the special education students in their classrooms. As an SSP my goal was to make the special ed students achieve their highest potential in anything they accomplished regardless the size. To make sure they feel good about themselves and getting to know them for who they are. I will always remember the joy and sorrow they brought me throughout my 33 years with the board. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There were so many good memories and moments throughout my career. The first day of school was always the best for me. Also being part of field trips and the bus rides were all such fun! What are your future retirement plans? Since I’ve been retired for a year and a half I’ve spent more time with my grandkids, have been working part time, volunteering, going for long walks with my husband and enjoying planning for holidays ( hopefully we can travel again soon)..

What I liked most about working at the TBCDSB was the variety of positions and work that I experienced, the staff that I enjoyed working with each day and the students that you talked to and helped out throughout the years. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? There are many memorable moments and events that happened in my years working at the TBCDSB, some of them were great and some not. What are your future retirement plans? In my retirement, I hope to do some travelling and spend time at our camp. I also like having more time to be with my children and grandchildren.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I was very blessed and lucky to have had the opportunity to meet and work with many wonderful people, as well as develop lifelong friendships along the way. My time with the TBCDSB provided me with several great memories, laughter and pleasant experiences that I will treasure forever. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? It is very difficult for me to choose just one memorable moment because I have had so many blessings in my career that have touched my heart. I will never forget the expression on a student’s face when he/she had read a word successfully for the first time, or spelled his/her name correctly. This brought so much joy, not only for the student, but also for myself to have witnessed such an amazing achievement. What are your future retirement plans? Wondering what I am going to do in retirement?? Well, there are unlimited possibilities! I plan to travel to many beautiful places, enjoy the outdoors, read and especially spend time with family and friends. Whatever it may be, I will be sure to cherish every moment to the fullest. I will embrace new adventures that come my way and welcome this new, exciting chapter in my life. Life is good!
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? I was hired on August 24, 1987 and retired on November 1, 2019. I have always believed in Catholic education. I was a student before I was an employee of the TBCDSB. I was proud to be an employee of the TBCDSB. My grandfather was a trustee for many years. My mother, sister, daughter and nephew were employed there as well. All three of my children were students of the TBCDSB. I loved the students and staff as well as being part of the Catholic education system. For me, the students always came first whether they needed an admit slip when I worked in the high school, or whether they needed a band aid when I worked in the elementary schools. Also I have made some lasting friendships with some of my former co-workers. I truly enjoyed working on the front line of the TBCDSB. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? My most memorable event was the surprise assembly the principal and staff of St. Francis School organized for my last day working there. The staff had every student, whether it be a note, card or art, presented to me in a keepsake book. I will treasure it always. There were parents, staff and students in attendance. They arranged for my daughter (who also worked for TBCDSB) to come and sing at the assembly. I miss my St. Francis Family. It was a very emotional day having to say good-bye after working at St. Francis for 16 years. There were lots of hugs and some tears. What are your future retirement plans? I look forward to my husband’s upcoming retirement. We would like to do a little bit of travelling especially to see my daughter who lives in Alberta. But we just want to relax and spend time with each other as well as our family and five grandchildren.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Working with students with behavioural/social emotional challenges. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Watching the events of 911 unfold, in real time on TV, while at work with students and the conversations that followed. What are your future retirement plans? To stay active, stay healthy, and enjoy life.
What did you like most about working for the TBCDSB? Working for the TBCDSB was a rewarding experience that opened many doors in my life and gave me opportunities that would not have been possible if I had not been a part of this amazing School Board. Being with the children is what I loved most of all. The children gave me inspiration and taught me many things on this journey. What was your most memorable moment/event while working for the TBCDSB? Being an SSP gave me so many memories and rewarding experiences. These children touched my heart in a very special way. Working for the TBCDSB gave me the opportunity to become a Teacher and to be a part of an amazing staff and administrative team. I made so many friends and memories along the way. I have friendships that will be lifelong and cherished forever. What are your future retirement plans? I will spend my mornings with coffee, cuddling with my cats, doing yoga and going for long walks. I love the outdoors and plan to spend a lot of time camping, kayaking, skiing and snowshoeing. Being outdoors gives me a sense of peace, strength and well-being. I wish to spend more time with my family and friends. I plan to do some traveling. I will live life to the fullest, be present, and cherish every moment. Love Life!
