Grant of registration Time: 4 -8 months
Validity: Original – 1 yy
Renewal – 5 yrs (simple process)
First Contravention : Imprisonment - up to 2 years or Fine ≥ 2 lakh –or both
Subsequent Contravention : Imprisonment - up to 2 years or Fine ≥ 5 lakh to upto 10 times or both (Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016)
Non-compliant inventory cannot be sold
