WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS AND HAVE LOTS OF FUN EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS PLANNED
ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE

Under construction, I guess the Club will be closed, Nope, we’re still open.

So, you’ve probably settled in to the revamped dining room layout resulting from the upgrade to our downstairs dining areas . . . or maybe you haven’t? If you haven’t come to lunch or dinner, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the comfortable ambiance our staff have created in the ballroom area. Although we can’t wait to make use of the updated facilities downstairs, a night out at TCC is still quite nice during the construction.
Another surprise during the construction is the ability of the Entertainment Committee and the Tavistock staff to still host special dinners, activities and events. This month, case in point is the celebration at the Club offering a buffet Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 24th. You’ll be able to enjoy the grand meal and all the trimmings without worrying about the cleanup. Also, the usual “to-go” option will be available for those who wish to have the meal at home - without heating up your kitchen.
Next month, all the normal Christmas activities will be held. See below for more event details.
Santa’s Workshop Christmas Craft Box would make a great gift and can be purchased for $45 and picked up on Friday, November 25th, Saturday, November 26th and Sunday, November 27th. These large craft boxes are full of festive activities for the kids ages 5+. Supplies are limited so don’t wait to place your order.
Up next, join us for Brunch with Santa on Saturday, December 3rd or 10th and Sunday December 4th or December 11th. Join us for photos with Santa.
Kick off the season and enjoy a ride to Longwood Gardens for a Christmas Bus trip on Thursday, December 8th. Set your spirits ablaze in the Conservatory, where you will see magnificently decorated trees, thousands of poinsettias and fragrant flowers. $99 per person inclusive. Price includes round trip transportation, a snack for the bus ride, admission to Longwood Gardens and a food voucher for $20.
Be sure to mark your calendar for the Madrigals Buffet Dinner on Tuesday December 13th. Join us for a festive dinner with performances by the Haddonfield Memorial High School Madrigals singers to get you in the holiday spirit!
Join us for our Christmas Lunch & Dinner Buffets the week of Tuesday December 20th – Friday December 23rd. Treat yourself and bring your friends and family for a lavish lunch and or dinner buffet.
So, if you think the Club is shutting down for construction, think again . . . we are open for business (almost as usual). Come create some new memories in the unique venue during the renovations - I promise you that you will find it to be very nice. In fact, the last time we went through a renovation like this, many members did not want to see the upstairs dining “restaurant” go away. Make your reservations early as space will be a bit more limited than in the past. See you there!

Women’s 2022 Charity Event
9 & 18 HOLE GROUPS
Tavistock’s Women’s Golf Association hosted its annual charity event on September 8, benefiting Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. Hugely successful, the event raised over $15,500 for families with critically ill children who need to stay at the House while their child is receiving medical care. Ninety-nine women participated in the scramble format in a unique dual-shotgun start that allowed women to choose whether to play 18 or 9 holes. A special thank you to the forty 9-hole ladies who joined us this year to fill our field!
There were on-course contests for each of the 18-hole and 9-hole divisions, mulligans and tee-ups for sale, let the pro hit your tee shot on 16, and an auction basket of wines, glasses, and goodies. Golfers were also invited to make a donation to share a night with the families of RMHSNJ, sponsor a tee sign, or bring a roll of paper towels tied with a ribbon and a cheerful note to a family staying in the House. Following golf, a luncheon was served and prizes were awarded.
Thanks to all of those involved in putting on such a fabulous event, including Teddy Thomas, committee chair, and committee members Linda Sakoff, Ruth Heald and Karen Thornton; the golf shop and locker room staffs; the grounds crew; and the banquet staff.
Congratulations to the winners!
First place (18-hole division): Liza Cartmell, Grace Worthington, Kristen Traynor, Meredith Earley

GLENARBOR GOLF KITCHEN INVITATIONAL Michelle Scianni
Our own Executive Chef Kelly Morrow and Chef Carlos Torres represented TCC at the first annual Golf Kitchen Invitational at GlenArbor Golf Club, Bedford Hills, New York on September 8th, 2022. The first annual Golf Kitchen Invitational showcased some of the tri-states finest local private golf and Country Club Chefs and their cuisine. These local area Club Chefs were all stationed out on the course and served up a mini feast that was enjoyed by participants and members. Chef Kelly and Chef Carlos served Tennessee Hot Chicken Sliders with Pimento Cheese, Habanero Hot Sauce, and Spicy Pickles and then packed a burning hot taste with their Cherry Moonshine Lemonade! These sliders and lemonade were sure to leave a great impression. Congratulations on a job well done and making Tavistock proud!

Christian Simms
How long have you worked at TCC? I got my start at Tavistock in 2018 as an intern. The next year I did an internship at Overbrook CC. I consider May 2, 2020 as my “working forever” day as I returned back to Tavistock after finishing school at Methodist University.
What is your current position? My current position at TCC is Lead Assistant Golf Professional.
What is your favorite part about working at TCC? Every day is a new day. No 2 days are ever the same. I enjoy giving lessons, working in the shop, and meeting new members. I also really enjoy the people I work with every day.
What is your proudest moment while working at TCC? My proudest moment at Tavistock would have to be this year’s Harrison Todd Invitational. It was my first time running this event from start to finish. After a month-long of preparation, it was really nice to receive all the positive feedback about the member guest from so many people.
What is something that most people don’t know about you? Something most people might not know about me is that I will be getting married in August 2023. My fiancé Victoria and I will be celebrating our special day in Princeton.
Do you have any hidden talents? I guess you could say a hidden talent might be golf trick shots I can execute. During the Junior Golf Camps, I have been known to hit 2 golf balls at once or bouncing a golf ball then hitting it in midair. The kids always seem to like those tricks.
Speaking of Junior Golf camp, I have also been a target of about sixty water balloons coming at me from our junior golfers all at once as I was going down the water slide. This has always been a fun day for me.
What do you like to do outside of work? Outside of work, I like to go to the shore and go boating. During the winter, I love to go skiing.
Is there anything about your family that you would like to share? My parents live in Newtown, PA. I have a younger brother who goes to the University of Scranton. My future wife Victoria is an alumnus of Villanova. Also, part of my family is my mini goldendoodle named Captain. He will be 4 in January and you can say he rules the house.
What has kept you at TCC for so long? What has kept me at Tavistock so long is the people I work with. Pat is the main reason why I came back to TCC in May 2020. I look at Pat as my mentor and feel really honored to be part of his team. Also, I can’t say enough about Iris and what a great job she does in her role in merchandising for the golf shop.
