Susie Kirk was the low qualifier in the senior division with a score of 76. At the end of the week Meghan Stasi secured her 9th Match Play title beating Ava O’Sullivan of Whitford CC 4&2 in a 36-hole final match. Loraine Jones of Merion CC won the Championship Flight of the senior division after beating Suzi Spotleson of RiverCrest GC 2&1. Megan Grosky McGowan won the 1st Flight Senior Division with a 3&1 victory over Maureen Koerwer, Huntingdon Valley CC. A big thank you goes out to Vic Frederico for providing a stunning and challenging golf course of which all Tavistock members would be proud. We would also like to thank Patrick Butkus and his staff for their support in hosting such a prestigious event. Also, to the women who volunteered their time as spotters on several holes, and to all the members of Tavistock who sacrificed their personal use of the golf course to allow the WGAP to host this event and give back to the game that we all love!

Meghan Stasi wins 9th Women’s Match Play Championship Meghan Stasi took full advantage of her home course knowledge during the 2022 Women’s Match Play Championship at Tavistock Country Club. Her steady play and solid putting proved to be the difference throughout her 4 matches, earning her a 9th title. She got off to an early lead against finalist Ava O’Sullivan (Whitford). Stasi was 5 up after 11 holes. O’Sullivan battled back to be 3 down after the first 18. The second 18 went back and forth. Stasi won the first three holes to go 6 up. Then O’Sullivan won 5, 6, and 7 to cut the lead to 3 up. Stasi won the 9th, then O’Sullivan won 10 and 14 to be 2 down with 4 to play. Stasi then closed out the match winning 15 and 16 to win the match 4 and 2. The quarterfinals were the closest we have ever had. 2 of the 4 matches came down to the 18th hole, and the other 2 went 19 holes. One of the 19 hole matches was Stasi against Olivia Strigh (Tavistock). The semi-finals saw O’Sullivan beat Grace Smith (Springhaven) 3 and 2 and Stasi beat Michelle Cox (Lehigh) 3 and 2. What is something that most people don’t know about you? Some things about me that people might not know is that I enjoy salsa dancing. I also love a Brazilian martial art called Capoeira. Another passion is landscape photography. Do you have any hidden talents? Playing the piano. What do you like to do outside of work? This is an easy question for me. I absolutely love to travel with my backpack and wing it with no reservations! Have been fortunate to travel to many places all over the world such as: Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, France, Poland, Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Morocco, Greece & Turkey to name just a few. When traveling, I can engage my passion of landscape photography. Next on my bucket list of places to travel to would be Asia or somewhere in Africa. Anything about your family that you would like to share? I have two sisters (one who lives in Mexico) and a mother. What has kept you at TCC so long? What has kept me at Tavistock so long would be a couple of things. First off, I really enjoy how my co-workers care about the people they work with. If someone is going through something emotionally or financially, they will always step up and try to help them out. This would have never happened at some previous jobs I held. Also, I really enjoy what I do and continuing to meet new members all the time.

TAVISTOCK COUNTRY CLUB IS DEDICATED TO CREATING A FIRST -10 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT THE HUMAN RESOURCE COMMITTEE David Woolley How long have you worked at TCC? 28 years What is your current position? My current position is Men’s Locker Room Attendant. Got my start at TCC as a dishwasher which then led to being a cook. I have been in my current role for almost 20 years now. What is your favorite part about working at TCC? There are a few things which make working at Tavistock so enjoyable. First off would be the members. I have really enjoyed getting to know so many people over the years. It is also cool to see the second generation of these people come through the Club. Another favorite part would be my fellow employees and knowing they are there for me if I ever needed it. The final thing that comes to mind is the flexibility the position offers in the off season. I like to use this down time to travel. What is your proudest moment while working at TCC? The thing I am most proud of is that I worked from dishwasher to the position I currently hold. I worked hard and took advantage of the opportunities that presented themselves to me over the years to get where I am today. I would also like to say how grateful I am to Mr. Wolf for giving me these opportunities for growth when he did.
