ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE
David Woolley
As summer continues to roll along at Tavistock, the Entertainment Committee and our great staff continue to work on providing our members with a diverse line-up of events at the Club.
Come out and enjoy the Entertainment inside the Fulton Room on Friday nights. A great way to see friends and unwind.
The annual National Dog Day at Tavistock has been rebranded to “Pups on the Patio”. This is an event for the entire family, especially your precious pup(s). It will take place on the patio Tuesday, August 27th. Don’t leave your puppies at home, bring them to TCC, where they can dine with the family. We will have a special menu with dishes both you and your dog can choose from. AWA will be at the Club and a complimentary printed family pup photo will be your souvenir. You will also have a chance to win a woof basket with treats and goodies for humans and furry friends. Ala carte reservations are required and a proof of vaccines.
Brewfest is knocking on the TCC door. Get a group of friends together
and celebrate the end of summer in style at the annual Brewfest on Friday, September 6th from 5:00 to 9:00PM. This ever-popular event will be held under the tent and will feature 11 craft breweries: Swedesboro, Whims and Armageddon Hard Ciders will be here for the first time along with Spellbound, Kings Road, Kane, Double Nickel, Anglesea, Gusto, Farm Truck and Bucket Brigade. Chef Kelly will be preparing a tasty buffet and Bob Anderson will provide the live music. Guests are welcome so get your reservations early!
On behalf of the Entertainment Committee, we would like to extend our appreciation for your continued support of the Tavistock entertainment events throughout the year. We have tried to provide you with new events, along with the traditional favorites and your support has been nothing short of amazing!! It is you…..our Membership……who make Tavistock Country Club the social envy of other clubs in the Delaware Valley.

It Was A Funfair!
Michelle Scianni
It’s a Club Tradition! TCC was transformed into a carnival ground on Thursday, June 27th. Guests were welcomed by colorful balloons and a friendly juggling stilt walker who gave you a taste for what was to come. The smell of buttered popcorn drew you even closer to being entertained by a strolling unicycle juggler, a face painter DJ, thrill acts and a balloon artist. By the sights and sounds of the carnival games there were lots of winners that night. The rock wall and the game truck were new additions to the carnival this year and they were a big hit. As members and guests climbed to the top of the rock wall, they were almost eye level with the hot air balloon. We saw lots of happy and funny faces on the traditional amusement swing ride. Snacks and sweet treats were abundant. Some of the favorites were cotton candy, water ice, fries, hot dogs, burgers and pizza. As the temps dropped and the sun set the carnival started to quiet down and one member said “can’t wait until next year!”

Meet Gene DiMedio
Where and when did you start playing golf?
I was 20 years old at Ramblewood Country Club with my future father-in-law. When I started there, it was only 18 holes and I saw the new nine develop.
How long have you been at Tavistock and who was your sponsor when coming into the Club? I came in 1976 and Gene Mariano was my sponsor.
Most memorable playing moment at TCC?
I won the President’s Cup with Fred Dunhour and the two-day member guest.
What is your favorite hole at TCC and why?
Hole #1 because it’s not the hardest hole but there is the anxiety you get when teeing off. #16 has been the toughest on me. I did witness two holes in one there though, Rich Lawnicki and John Conway.
What is your go to meal at TCC?
I go with the ahi tuna.
If we put a “DiMedio Special” at the halfway house, what would it be?
A hotdog with the works!
Who would be in your bucket list golf group at TCC?
Dave Wilson is in there. I would round it out with Craig Remington and Barry Falkenberg. That’s the group that I played most of my rounds with at TCC.
When you aren’t enjoying TCC what else are you doing?
I love to spend time in Ocean City, NJ where I like to boat and fish.
Most memorable personal golfing moment?
I have a hole in one at Merchantville Country Club. It was on hole #6 and I never saw it go in. I still have the ball and they gave me a plaque.
What is one thing you’ve done at TCC that you consider to be proud of?
Being a Board Member would be it. I was a Board member for 27 years. Overcoming the challenges with that group such as the drop of wait list members in 2008 and the sudden loss of George Wolf.
Favorite event or tradition at TCC?
Opening Day and the President’s Ball. The President’s Ball was always a beautiful event. From the black tie and big party, it was always the event of the year.
What’s your favorite course outside of TCC?
Pebble Beach – every hole with ocean views is just spectacular. I like to play golf quickly, but I wouldn’t mind a six hour round there.
One thing you could add or change at TCC?
Membership at TCC as affordable as possible. We have always been proud to make it a great place but affordable.
What do you like most about Tavistock?
The staff and the members. The people are just wonderful, they make the Club what it is.

What’s the best way to get out of a sand trap?
Sand traps, or “The Beach” as we golfers call them, are not as hard to get out of as people make them to be. The key is having the proper technique, and a little confidence. Scan the QR code below to see a video will show you a couple simple moves that will take your sand game to a new level.

A COOL SUMMER DIP RECIPE
Chef J. Kelly Morrow
Ingredients:
5 chopped green onions
8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
1 ½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup bacon bits
½ cup slivered almond
Mix all ingredients together and chill for two hours or until ready to serve.
Best with crackers of your choice or impress your guests with the below cracker recipe to dip into.
Cheddar Crackers
Ingredients:
8 ounces sharp cheddar, finely grated
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, cut into pieces
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
Pinch of cayenne
3 tablespoons ice water
Directions:
1. Put the cheddar, flour, butter, salt, seasoned salt and cayenne in a food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles sand. Add the ice water and pulse until the dough comes together.
2. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for one hour.
3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
4. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.
5. Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut it into squares with a pizza cutter. Use a wooden skewer to poke a small hole in the center of each square.
6. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and bake until golden brown, 15 to 17 minutes. Allow it to cool before packing up.
