“Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.” Dogs are truly amazing, providing unconditional love and companionship. Many dogs take on meaningful jobs as service animals and there are countless tales of absolute devotion and heroism attributed to our four-legged friends. This year, in celebration of National Dog Day, on Friday August 26th Tavistock is opening our veranda to dine with your dog. This member only event will feature a special menu and a caricaturist. Please bring your best friend and enjoy what is certain to be a most remarkable evening. And while August days may be hot and muggy, there are many offerings at your Club that will certainly lift your spirits. Fridays welcome our official bagpiper and cool, live entertainment jazzes up our lounge. And when the sun goes down, what better way to end the day then by having dinner and drinks on the veranda? Cooler days are just ahead in September, and by the way…. a new event will be coming to Tavistock on Sunday, September 25th.

Tavistock presents Symphony in C All-American Brass who will be playing for a memorable evening of music. Save the Date! We look forward to a night of extraordinary classical, Broadway, and pop hits filling the air on the veranda (weather permitting). Dinner and drinks will be served. Please note that this performance is not subject to concert etiquette and will be a fun-filled night. Be sure to Save the Date for a Cigar Dinner on Wednesday, September 7th and a Fall Wine Dinner! All Tavistock’s women golfers participated in the annual Par 3 Fun Day on June 28. The entire course was set up as a Par 3 course with a length of 1921 yards. In anticipation of the upcoming 4th of July holiday, there was a red, white, and blue theme and American flags served as the tee markers. The event was flighted into red, white and blue flights based on handicaps and there were on course contests as well as individual low net competitions for each flight. Following golf, the women enjoyed a delicious luncheon with door prizes. Thank you to Cynthia Heald for planning a wonderful event and to the Tavistock golf staff for all their hard work setting up the course. Congratulations to all the winners!

Celebrate the value of mentorship by participating in the 20th Deeg Sezna, set for Aug. 2 at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa. Open to males and females, the Deeg Sezna pairs an individual 21 years of age or younger teams with a teammate 10 years (minimum) his or her elder. All females and male/female teams will have their own division. Registration for the Deeg Sezna closes July 16. The event honors Davis “Deeg” Sezna, Jr. of Hartefeld National, who lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001 in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. The goal is to give experienced golfers quality time with the next generation, and vice versa. 6

Justin Davis the National Business Manager for the consumer products company, Church & Dwight Co in Ewing, NJ. Justin and his wife, Alissa, live in Cherry Hill with their two sons, Benjamin and Andrew. Justin attended Paul IV high school followed by Saint Joseph’s University. Justin is very involved in his community, routinely serving as coach to his kid’s sports teams, as well as supporting the Cherry Hill Youth Athletic Association, Cherry Hill Soccer Club, the Christ the King Regional School PTA and the Ronald McDonald House of South Jersey. How long have you worked at TCC? Since February 2003. 19+ years. What is your current position? Controller & Office Manager What is your favorite part about working at TCC? Teamwork, engaging with our Members and Board Members. What is your proudest moment while working at TCC? There are many proud moments. The ability to lead projects and continue to adapt to new technologies and processes within the Club industry and apply them to Tavistock. When speaking with my colleagues and professionals in the industry I am so impressed with all the advances and how TCC seems to be ahead of curve in every department when compared to other organizations in hospitality.

What is something that most people don’t know about you? Since 2003 I have been a member of the Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals (HFTP) both within the Mid-Jersey and Greater Philadelphia Chapters. I have served on the Greater Philadelphia Chapter Executive Board since 2016. I currently serve as President of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter. Since November 2021 I have been serving on the Global Advisory Board with the HFTP International.

In July of 2019 I had the honor to be the keynote speaker for the country club software vendor, clubsystems, during their staff’s “Annual Summer Camp”. I spoke to the topic, “A Day in the Life of a Controller.” Do you have any hidden talents? I am a certified personal tax preparer. What do you like to do outside of work? Spend time with my husband Bob, family and friends. Gardening, sports, travel and I enjoy the Jersey shore. My husband and I have been an Eagles season ticket holder since 1980. Anything about your family that you would like to share? I am related to Betsy Ross. Joseph Boggs Beale was the great grandson of Betsy’s sister, and he married my great, great grandmom. Not many people know who Joseph Boggs Beale is, but you may have seen his work. He did not paint the original Spirit of 76 but he was commissioned by President Garfield to create a stamp version of the painting for the Centennial Celebration in 1876. Joseph Boggs Beale is the artist who made the piper and two drummers famous. What has kept you at TCC so long? The Board’s commitment to technology and the support of our staff and members during the transitions with the country club accounting software changes throughout the years. The challenging responsibilities bring new opportunities with learning and growing along with my dedicated staff and coworkers. In addition to my accounting responsibilities, I have held various roles within the operations of the Club over the years including Membership, Website, Tavistock News and Tavizine.
