It’s officially the time of year we all waited for……golf season!! If you haven’t already joined one of our Women’s Golf programs, it is not too late to do so; just call or e-mail Sue Tindall in the office to register for the 18-Hole and/or 9-Hole league mailings. We would love to have you join in the fun!
The Tavistock Women’s Golf Association kicked off the season with its annual general meeting on April 4th. Besides general Club updates and the forecast of women golf events, the meeting introduced Bridget McLaughlin, our new Assistant Pro, who will be working with the Tavistock Women’s Golf Association. Welcome, Bridget! Meeting minutes were sent out to all 18-Hole women golfers via e-mail. If you have not received these minutes, please get in touch with MaryKay Maley at mnms400@comcast.net to be added to the mailing list.
On April 11th, our 18-Hole Women’s Group enjoyed their opening day, “Swing into Spring’ hosted by Agnes Madden and Jane Quigley. After a fantastic morning of golf, the celebration of the start of the golf season continued with a fabulous lunch. Thank you to the Golf Professional Staff, Caddie Master, Bill; our Locker Room Attendant, Lucy; the Banquet, Kitchen, and Clubhouse Staff; and especially to Agnes and Jane for another memorable event! You ladies rock!

Reciprocal Club Hiring Program
HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT
Dear TCC Members,
The present-day business environment has created hiring challenges and employee retention difficulties and the hospitality industry is no exception. Our current Club environments are beaming with strong membership enthusiastically utilizing our Club facilities which in-turn requires a strong professional staff to accommodate membership needs. Hiring has now turned into a full-time effort across management teams to reconfigure and redesign employment strategies. Strategically Tavistock Country Club is teaming up with Riverton Country Club and Laurel Creek to unilaterality work together to support each other’s membership needs, hiring expectations, and operational requirements. The 2023 school year will be ending and before we know it, individuals will be searching for summertime employment and we have a solution. Like many private Clubs, Tavistock has a policy prohibiting the membership’s children as well as close relatives from being employed at Tavistock. Riverton, Laurel Creek, and Tavistock have joined together and decided that the reciprocal hiring of our membership’s children or close relatives at another club is not only allowed but encouraged. This new venture will afford the member’s children of any of these three clubs the ability to apply for a position at another one of the reciprocal Clubs. If you have someone who falls into this category and is looking for a summer job or seeking a long-ter m career opportunity, please have them apply as soon as possible via the following email contacts. Please indicate their “home” Club in their email.
For Tavistock Country Club: Kim Sandelier, Human Resource Director kim@tavistockcc.com
For Riverton Country Club: Hannah Librizzi, General Manager hlibrizzi@rivertoncc.com
For Laurel Creek Country Club: Joel Inman, General Manager jinman@laurelcreek.org
The members of Riverton and Laurel Creek are also receiving this letter to introduce them to our initiative. We are hopeful that this new collaboration will set a new precedent as we navigate these challenging times while supporting our membership and strengthening our staff.
Sincerely,
Colin Mack-Allen General Manager

FROM THE TCC KITCHEN
Chef J. Kelly Morrow
Introducing Tavistock’s new smoker - the Judge 5FT with Rotisserie. It weighs 1,800 lbs and is made in the U.S.A. by American Barbeque Systems. If you tried the leg of lamb at Easter it was cooked in the smoker. It is built to handle all our grilling needs with plenty of room for the culinary team to grill and smoke at the same time. It will provide consistent heat throughout the smoking process for continued cooking and great flavor. Not only does it smoke but it allows us to sear and grill over direct heat. It also has a rotisserie option to make meats, poultry and fish even more tender.
Some of the things we plan to be using it for are:
Salmon
Brisket Ribs
Pork Tenderloins
Pork Shoulder
Chicken
Sausage
Leg of Lamb

Member Dining UpdateMoving to the Roof top Tent
As we get closer to the Member Dining Rooms reopening, the temporary Member Dining in the Coulter Room will be coming to an end in May due to previously booked banquet events in the Ballrooms. To provide a dining venue for the Members, the tent is scheduled to be installed on May 25th on the rooftop, which will serve as the new temporary dining. Once we have the exact dates of the dining area switch, we will update the Membership via Tavizine. Until we have the date, we are going to ask that all a la carte reservations starting June 1st be put on hold. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate the final steps of the project.

Jordan Hoeft Assistant Superintendent
What do you like about your current position?
I enjoy being outside. It gives me a sense of freedom while still getting the job done. Being complimented by members about the great condition the course is in is very fulfilling. The grounds crew is like my second family, which makes for a better experience overall.
How long have you worked at Tavistock?
6 years
What is something you plan on doing that you have never done before?
I hope to play in amateur golf events in the coming years. And the bigger picture is my wife and I plan to buy a house and start a family.
Do you collect anything?
Putter covers
Do you like roller coasters? Yes
What are some things you like to do when you’re not working?
The reason I work at Tavistock is for my love of golf. This job has taken me to places I would have never dreamed of. So, golf takes up a lot of my free time, alongside spending time with my wife going to the beach and we love going to Disney.
What is your favorite family recipe?
My grandmother’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Do you have a favorite holiday tradition?
Not every year but lately my family all meets somewhere warm for Christmas. My brother and two sisters live in Wisconsin, and I don’t get to see them often, so it makes it pretty special.
